Website maintenance should have nothing to do with the texts being sent. I think they aren't allowed to use the name myessocard anymore

This weeks price for diesel as notified by the card operators is £1,253

price quoted by petrolprices.com at the same service station is £1.239 so where is the saving by using the card ? Will pop out over the road tomorrow and report back to what I was actually charged.

I can confirm exactly as above. £1.253 for this week and my local Esso Garage is charging without the card £1.229. So over two pence per litre cheaper, mind you, the small print does say that in the even t it is dearer, you get 1p a litre off. Just not sure if that is off the published rice or forecourt price. Either way, certainly not a money saver in Aberdeen.

You will be charged £1.253, the receipt will say £1.239, but Pump King will debit your card at the higher price of 1.253. Just use the Debit card and don't bother with the esso card for at least this week.

Where does it say that in the small print? Looked in T&C's and no mention there unless I missed it.

Mind you why would you use the card at £1.253 when you get it for £1.229 even with the 1p off?

I too have noticed the steady increase in prices from Pump King which isn't reflective locally of fuel prices generally. They seem to be creeping lower.

I wonder if the response to this will be the usual 'due to overwhelming demand' and 'victim of our own success' statements or they started out as a loss leader to get people to sign up. Now they need to start making money. Pure speculation of course:)

Under Members' Offers - Esso card etc - towards the bottom, it says -

"Saving varies based on My Esso Card special rate and Esso pump price rate. On average members will save 8p per litre on premium diesel or unleaded fuel and 5p per litre on standard diesel or unleaded fuel. In the unlikely event that the forecourt fuel prices are cheaper than the My Esso Fuel prices, members are guaranteed to save a minimum of 1 pence per litre on any fuel type."

Did you not read that before signing up?

Ah see it now. Wonder if that's legally binding as it's not in the Pump-King T&C's that you sign up to. They're the ones I'm reading.

Also, seen no details about the free prize draw. Don't they legally have to announce the winners?

Until I get my refund and they start answering the phones (just get constant engaged tone) and respond to emails I'm not using it anymore.

I have used my esso card 3 times now and made savings each time against the local supermarket price. I have not used my card since the 6th January so I was surprised to receive an email from Pump King last night for my Diesel order from 16th January at 10:51 for £48.54. I have emailed Pump King and tried calling the number on the email this morning but it is constantly engaged. It looks like the £48.54 is scheduled to leave my bank account tomorrow. If anyone at the Club has any contacts at Pump King then any help in getting my money back would be much appreciated!

Not sure what number you have but I managed to get through this morning on 020 3468 8578, it was engaged all last week but did answer today.

Good grief dlw, is this issue not resolved yet ??!!

Your post's date suggests that you received the email on the 20th Jan for fuel drawn on the 16th. Some card holders, including myself, had a similar unexpected email on the 11th Jan and were assured that this was due to a system software glitch. If you check the amount charged, you may find the latest email is for an amount which is exactly the same as some or all of your previous purchases and has been double charged.. If you email pump-king accounts@pump-king.co.uk they should issue a refund if it charged in error.

If this issue is indeed still happening it is far from satisfactory.

This "offer" appears to be getting worse, not better!

It really is about time someone from the promoter, i.e the Club, answered some of the concerns that members have!undecided

dlw, I've reported your post, to see if that gets a response.

When they double dipped our card about two weeks ago it was for a large purchase we had made beginning of December.  However we had insufficient funds to cover the amount on the second occasion and then got a very threatening email.

In addition, to an issue many years ago with funds illegally withdrawn on our account we have this double dipping.  Now maybe people may understand why it is best to keep a minimum amount of funds in a current account.

I can't get through to Pump King on any number, always engaged, so have tried the email on their Web site which has bounced back as undeliverable.

Esso have washed their hands of it... "Nothing to do with us sir, think you should contact Pump King"

I don't have a lot of trust in this scheme as it stands and along with others who have done so, will be cancelling my debit card so they no longer have my card details.

No one from the Club to offer advice?

What did they say? Did they sort out your query or take your details and pass them on?

Last time I spoke to somebody I was told to email them as I would get a quicker response as they would just take a note of my message and pass it on.

7 days later still no response and no refund and line permanently engaged. Think they may only have one line

Can't believe the club are still promoting this whilst these issues are outstanding. Maybe they should take the offer down for say a month. Let it settle down and then re-launch it when Pump-King can handle it better.

I've changed my debit card details to an account that has zero funds in case they try another double dip.

If they try and take it from my previous debit card then they would be in serious breach of data protection and GDPR laws as those details have been removed so they should not retain them

I tried 020 3468 8578 but that was also engaged at first and when it did ring there was no reply! The number on the bottom of the email I received (0203 962 2335) has been engaged every time I have tried today. I will just have to hope they respond to the email I sent last night.

then on first time of using the pin number did not match the card. double checked the number and I was right.

trying to query the problem via email but as yet no reply from pump king or my esso card.

I cannot find any way of changing it using my esso card profile page.

If it helps, my pin number changed when I received my card, I believe there is no way to change it yourself, I'm afraid.

The myessocard website no longer works, you need to use pump-king.co.uk but I don't think that will assist you eitherundecided

    Hi Rowena.

What about me? I've been phoning (well trying) and emailing for the last 1 1/2 weeks and getting no responses and still no sign of a refund. I'm missing over £45

    Thanks

I am in exactly the same position, having originally applied on 22 November!

Numerous phone calls later and I just get fobbed off by PK and promised action from the club still hasn't happened. I am well disillusioned by the whole sorry sage.

BTW, will the free fuel offer be extended again to cover those of us who have (through no fault of our own) been excluded by virtue of not being able to purchase fuel on the (non-existent) card? Somehow I doubt it!

They will probably keep changing the date of the prize draw until eventually we all forget about it!  smile

As the club seem to be keeping a bit of a low profile on this debacle perhaps it is time for contributors of this thread who have worries about their Esso card or PK holding their bank details, to start bombarding the CC main switchboard with telephone calls on the subject. That might stir things up a bit.
