Thanks for posting back geneuk, and don't worry about it we have all done the same thing in posting at one time or other. I seem to remember I posted about a site might's price once and I took a MWD price and halved it again

I am disgusted with the way the Club is going. I have been a member for 47 years and I have a seen, over the last few years, an attitude towards making as much money as the club thinks it can get away with! The pricing is a fiasco!
- An example, looking at the Brecon Beacons site. There are 40 yes 40 listed dates showing different rates. Looking at it closely one finds that weekends, Bk Hols, school holidays all play a part in the changes. In other words every opportunity to hike the price up.
- CLs will be the beneficiaries of this policy and good luck to them.
I will certainly be using the Camping and Caravanning Club more who, and the Club should be very much aware, are bringing their sites up to a high standard and giving their Members a fair deal especially with the concession to the older members which this club fails to do!
Finally if this club needs to obtain as much money as it can then it ought to think twice about the huge expenditure it must have cost to change all the signage that frankly everybody that i talk to feel was a complete waste!

I think you’re possibly confused by the mid-week 50% discount offer, Tommys. That’s why the price keeps changing during the week.

A quick look at Brecon Beacons pricing leads me to say that you are totally wrong in my view. At a quick glance there appears to be 3 true price bands. The other entries are for mid week price reductions to encourage site usage.
The peak August prices look reasonable to me and particularly for families.

Yes, I think the perceived problem is the way that the club has decided to list every midweek discount separately. I think it was SteveL who made the point, either on this thread or another, that a simple statement at the bottom of the price chart would have been sufficient. It's really not difficult for folk to do the maths!

It may be wrong in your view Easy but if Tommys thinks it is unfair then obviously the club has crossed that line with him. Most people have a line.
Anyway I do think the club have made their price range packages quite cumbersome. To change a price by £0.20 for example just gives the impression of penny pinching.

Am the only one who actually looks at that, rather than adding up all the different parts?
I suppose if the club didn't do this there be the posters who would complain the club isn't being transparent with it's pricing, you know 'sneaky'?

If the club simply said midweek discount 50% some would take that as total fee rather than just the #per pitch' element and complain to CC that there had been an overcharge. Truly they cannot win in that regard. I notice that the mid-week discount continues through August as does kids for £1. Is that penny pinching too?

All I thought that you said was that Tommys was unhappy and that changing site fees by 20p seemed like penny pinching. I said that I didn't agree. Did I miss something?
The post you responded to was not directly aimed at you WN as others complained that increases of 30p for 2 adults seemed penny pinching

Not so long ago Club Sites were our 1st choice for when looking for a suitable site. Now they are a last resort.
They've priced themselves well out of what we consider to be good value.
Now we look at CL's, THS & rallies which provide far better value.

Well, ET , as the last post to mention the words penny pinching came from me I think it would be natural of me to assume you were referring to me but I'm glad you cleared it up.
Just for the record I too just look at the bottom line and if I don't like what I see then I don't book but there will be plenty of the 350,000 members who will want to see whether it's worth the hassle of making a pretend booking just to see that bottom line. I still can't get my head around someone at EG working out that an increase of £0.20 or £0.30 for a few days, sometimes just 1 day, is worth the effort.

I'm not pennypinching it's the fact that the club do this in such a childish way. So Club do the sums and give us a price for
A out of season and
B shoulder season and
C main season.
In my estimation that is 3 prices.
If the main season is too expensive for some (mainly families) then have children's offers however don't hike it onto Out and Shoulder season as this is when most older folks holiday. Look at your expenditure instead. This is good Accounting practice and I should know, I am an Accountant.

The club does have children's offers and some of the best. If you do the sums then club sites are usually much much cheaper for families than most other sites. There are the kids for a pound and significantly kids in club land are for up to 18, while many non club sites it is usually 14.
