After yesterday's grey miserable day, today is lovely sunny and bright.

Waited in all day yesterday for 2 big parcels to be delivered (furniture) which didn't turn up.ย yellย Called this morning to delivery company, got passed from pillar to post to be told that they are coming today now. No apology or explanation.yell

Starting to get the house back into some kind of order now, will be better once the new carpet goes down in the attic room then we can put everything back that is scattered around the house.

I've managed to make the lounge and dinning room look a bit christmassy, not going overboard this year as none of the children/grandchildren are paying a visit.ย frown

We don't have a Homebase anymore either but we do have salt/grit bins all over the village, we live on a hill so there are plenty on our road. OH went and got a few bucket fulls a few weeks ago. We've already had the snow plough round for the pavements.

I'm busy designing and making a memory book for Mum for her Christmas, why do I leave things until the last minuteย undecidedย still haven't got anything for OH. Food for Christmas all bought apart from perishables.ย

New router and TV box arrived from Virgin. Given the potential for digital chaos to ensue, I think I will leave it until tomorrow when I have a clear day before fiddling with anything.

So easy to set up CY. ย Plugged in router switched on, connected tv box switched on and left it to sort itself out. ย Router up and running so logged on with all devices. ย I would say about 10 minutes in total . ย

I have had a busy few days like everyone else. I was on Welcomer duty at the Cathedral yesterday and the big excitement was that Jonathon Foyle came in with his mother to have a look round. He is such a lovely man. He has recently written a great book about the Cathedral and his mother lives locally. She actually remembered that I had sat next to her and had a chat when Jonathon Foyle gave a talk in the Cathedral about the medieval ceiling last year!ย  Poor lady was in a wheelchair as she has recently fallen and broken her hip. I have had computer troubles today but lovely SIL has just been round and sorted it out. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We're on a bus route, which the local council never grits, and have no grit bin either, but other streets, with no bus route do have them. It's unbelievable really.

Pete, I echo Brue's post. Is your band not in demand over Chrimbo?

After plumbers visit yesterday it was a relief when shower worked this morning. A day of taxi driving for MIL who had various appointments and a Christmas party to go to this afternoon, so I took the opportunity of getting in those food items that tend to be hard to find near to Christmas as people who never normally buy it suddenly find that Christmas will be a disaster if they don't buy some only to end up throwing it away 3 days after the big day!

Has anyone seen our Rudolph? He goes missing every year, mainly because we forget where we've stored him only to reappear usually on Christmas Eve.

I spotted him with his head sticking out of an upstairs window above a butchers shop as we headed into Scarborough today. Wonder if they're selling Reindeer meat as venison for Christmas.wink

Somewhat unusual day today. Woken by the telephone at around seven this morning. it was my youngest son. Joss (13) not well with a cold could we look after her? You agree to anything when you are half asleep! She is no bother and generally happy to entertain herself on her iPad although Margaret did drag her way to make some mince pies which not only did she enjoy but also prove to be quite competent at the task in hand. Apparently she had made bread the day before at school. After lunch Margaret and Joss settled down to watch the DVD of the new Mama Mia film when another frantic phone call from Simon. The dog walker had rung to say one of the dogs had had an accident and manged to rip out one of the claws on his back foot out. So Simon was off to Northampton to collect the dogs and take the injured one to the vets and could he bring them to us afterwards. The more the merrier we thought. Doug was quite subdued and he did not like having his back leg dressed up! Even the younger dog seemed a bit quiet, perhaps the incident frightened him? They had all gone by 5.30pm but they will probably be back tomorrow!!! Other than that its been a lovely day weather wise and not too cold. Even managed to wash most of the motohome.

Oneputt have a wonderful time. We've visited the Thursford Christmas show, not this year, and thought it was brilliant, I'm sure the twins will be enthralled. I envy you ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜ข.

DavidKlyne trust that Joss is recovered by Christmas and the dogs are back to normal shortly.ย

I awoke yesterday with a sore throat and a bit nasally. Cooked the mince pies I'd made Tuesday evening. Had a phone call as I was starting on the making Tuesday morningl from my friend who lives in Northumberland to say she was down did I fancy catch up? All very last minute, often is with her ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Made the pastry and then went out for a cuppa and lunch. Don't get to meet physically very often so very nice .

Wednesday after cooking the mince pies, I've never spun the task out for so long! I had a dental appointment for check up and clean, lucky me. Told dentist thought I was starting a cold, he asked if I'd mind him not cleaning teeth today? I was delighted, I have very sensitive teeth at the best of times. Bad news got to have them done on 19th next month. Wrapped the last of the presents yesterday afternoon. So apart from last of the shopping for perishables I'm done sorted.

Feeling and sounding full of it this morning ๐Ÿ˜ข. Going to take it easy today as we have a trip booked for seeing the West End of London and Kew Gardens lit up. Beautiful morning here, clear blue and sunny, would be a great day for a walk but I'll try to keep in line temperature today.

Whatever you're doing enjoy your day folks

Edit brilliant news Husky, hopefully it'll go through without a hitch. You posted as I typed.

Tricky I really hope you can amuse yourself through Christmas and the new year and that Concorde is repaired and ready for trips very early in the new year without too much expense. Life is never easy!!

Not quite Ground Hog Day but Joss and the dogs are back. Doug the dog with the injured foot seems a little happier today. Mind you he was a bit upset when Margaret took the other dog and Joss out to deliver Christmas cards! Problem is keeping the dressing clean on Doug's paw. I used cling film to wrap round it so he could go out in the garden to conduct any business, it seemed to work OK.

Great news HD.smileย It was a great weight off my mind when a buyer was found for my 50% partnership.

By the sound of it Oneputt is more excited than the little ones.

Mrs WN decided it was suddenly Spring and everywhere is getting cleaned,ย  bedding included.

Thanks for Rudolph sightings but ours is a little bit smaller. Those must be imposters, probably Dasher playing his tricks again.

I'm with Mrs WN. Fortunately I did our spring clean last week, was going to do the bedding today but that can wait until I feel more like it. Just that and towels and a vac around before the day. There'll be everyday clothes but that's easy. I dont know why but I have always deep cleaned and done bedding etc before Christmas, was more when the kids were home ๐Ÿ˜‚. Then I don't feel guilty if I dont tackle things until 12th night ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Just dont stand still for too long WN!
