Finally got a few minutes to myself, and having a quick CT catch up.

It's been bitterly cold and wet today, had a quick shopping trip this morning and then OH took the back door of the Freelander apart this afternoon, it's not been locking frown he has fixed it once but the central  locking isn't working again,  I found plenty of inside jobs to do.

Have just finished putting the Christmas tree up, outside lights will have to wait, not going outside again!  laughing

Wherenext thanks for the update re the wine in Aldi.

Nice to read everyone away is having a good time.

Nellie,  we did a couple ,of lovely walks along the Nidd valley in the Autumn , including walking into Knaresborough but have to admit that after a visit to the lovely alehouse in the town, we caught the bus back! embarassed

What a dreadful day, weather wise, hope Francis doesn't get snowed in and enjoys the get together. Visited elderly neighbours, who ordered an enormous pile of logs and can't stack them (the sort of pile that will give even the healthiest volunteer stacker back ache for a week.) As they also have gas heating I know they'll be ok, so the logs have been covered with a tarpaulin weighted down against the strong winds and rain.

I've retreated to the fire side, Christmas cakes nearly sorted, must stop eating the spare marzipan!

Been zero or below all day here. We got home last night from cottage, straight into full on Mum caring duties, plus sister who has trapped a nerve in her neck.frown In agony, can’t move, so I have been with Mum all day. However, have got stuck into knitting, so enjoying that.

Rain started around 5pm, just hope it isn’t freezing. That gorgeous hot summer seems a long way away tonight. However, not long to shortest day, and the days will be getting longer!smile

Brue and Bakers2 I bought a metal christmas card holder some years ago. 2 photos below. It has been a foul day today. Bitterly cold, windy and freezing rain this afternoon. I had to pop out to Morrisons this afternoon to get the marzipan and icing for daughter to decorate the Christmas cake I made last month. It was freezing πŸ˜¨β„ I have finished wrapping and decorating all the Christmas presents today 😊. I needed to get ahead of the game as OH has a lot of hospital appointments next week which are fairly routine but will be time consuming.

Hope all those travelling are safe.  It’s very violent here in East Norfolk with winds gusting up to 55mph.  Fire lit so cosy while watching the empire strikes back. πŸŒšπŸ’«πŸ›°πŸš€πŸ›Έ

We woke to a light covering of snow here this morning and contemplated cancelling our plans for the day as the forecast was so bad.

Day off from house renovations as it was OH's birthday yesterday and we were all invited to DS's place in Ayrshire for lunch today.

Left here at 10.30 and went to DD's house in Glasgow first in case we should all travel together.  Very little snow in town.  They decided to take their own car as they needed to leave earlier than us.

Lunch was a delicious Lasagne made by DS, with salad and garlic bread, followed by an equally delicious Black Forest Gateau made by DD.  No snow in Ayrshire, only sleet and hailstones, but very cold.

OH then got her present.....a new iPad......so she is now getting to grips with what it can do.

Heavy rain on the way home, so less snow here now than earlier.

Nothing quite like the warmth of a log fire gently crackling away in the grate, particularly at this time of year.

A glass or two of sherry goes down well!

Dry this morning so we managed a good walk down through Hampsthwaite to the R.Nidd and then back round to the van. The rain started just after noon and was freezing on the car and the ground as it landed, and was quite heavy at times. It has finally stopped and it seems to be warming up a little so hopefully it will have melted by the morning and we'll have no problems getting off and onto our next port of call.

We are just home after a lovely weekend away at Strathclyde Park C&MC. We went to the  Christmas festival at the theme park complex yesterday which was lovely but very busy. The weather yesterday was terrible it was rainy and very windy all night last night. Luckily when we got up this morning the sun was shining so it was an easy drive home this morning just an hours tow. Caravan now back in its space in the drive it will next be out for our 4 night trip we are having between Christmas and New Year.

Much better morning, winter sunshine so headed off to do some Christmas shopping. 🎁🎁🎁🎁  our local Millets store is closing down and has some fab bargains ☺ also bought some bubbly from M&S as we had earned a gift card from purchases on the credit card.   Had planned to go to the Farm shop but realised we were too late 😟 so will have to try and go tomorrow now.

Spent this afternoon writing some Cards and OH put a few lights up outside.  Had a fun time spreading our awning out in the lounge, and then folding it up to put back in thd bag. It had been drying in the garage.

Francis glad you had a lovely weekend and arrived home safety.

Millie hope you had a lovely lunch out with friends.   Safe travels Nellie.

Must be time for a mulled wine 🍷Merry Christmas ☺☺

After an horrendous day weatherise it’s crisp and dry today.

    I’ve been making lists -

    presents (all bought and wrapped)

    cards (all sent)

meals between now and Christmas (it’s the normal food that catches me out )

shopping for all these meals (a very full trolley from Booths this morning)

dates/times when family members are coming β€œhome”

boring jobs like sorting out bedrooms and cleaning all the house

decorations to put up (tree bought on way home from shopping)

Its a bit more complicated as I’ll be three score years and ten in a few days  and we’ve been planning celebrations for that. Nothing flashy like OH’s earlier in the year.

Best forward wishes for your 70th.Goldie (just proving I can count)

Husky - Glad you put a smiley on your post.

Good luck to all who have lost loved ones during the year.

Yesterday was so bad that I couldn't get out. The rain wouldn't have bothered me but branches were falling so we stayed put. Made up for it today with a brisk walk. Bumped into a neighbour who was trying to deliver his cards whilst walking with 2 crutches and 2 dogs so took cards and dogs off him and sent him back up his drive. Just because you get older doesn't mean you get more sense (not having a go at you GoldieπŸ‘΅).

Bangers and mash with onion gravy for tea.😝

    Thanks, Helen, it's going well.

After the horrible weather yesterday we woke to a sunny morning and all of the frost had gone. I was surprised to see a patch of snow on the ground last night when I was out with Flyte at 10. Easy drive over to Snainton and surprising little traffic in our direction around York although there was quite a queue heading in the opposite direction. The site is certainly a good find easy access and very quiet.

Happy birthday for next week Goldie.

Glad that you had a good trip Goldie. Hope that the weather stays fair for your next trip.

Busy day today. Had our, what seems to becoming an annual get together, at a local pub/restaurant for family members. People came from Southampton, London and Northampton as well as the MK contingent. Not forgetting baby Mila who is about 4/5 months old and the star of the show! At Margaret's sister insistence we had to wear Christmas jumpers. I don't quite match up to Colin Firth in mine!!!

Well done David.  OH won't even buy a Christmas jumper, never mind wear one!! I do have one or two bought over the years and like an opportunity to wear them.  That sounds a lovely occasion to get everyone together.

Goodness WN. Your neighbour sounds like a disaster waiting to happen - 2 crutches, 2 dogs and a handful of cards!  Good job you were there to help out. Well done.

    Happy birthday Goldie.

Gradually getting through the long lone of concerts, practices and services before Christmas.  We were packed out for the Polesworth Abbey Carol Service last night.  I have a bit of respite today before more performances and practices before Christmas Day.  I haven't told anyone about my 'day off' today.  Stillvhave to take a keyboard speaker in for repair, but hopefully some Christmas shopping later.

Glad  to  see  you  are  all  busy  &  productive  this  week  laughing.

Did  a  bit  of  'present shopping'  in  Sainsburys  in  Nantwich  today  . I could  have  managed  to  do  it  in  Crewe  but  I  decided  to  get  the  lads  on  their  carpark { Poles  ??embarassedundecided }  to  give  the  Ducato  a  quick  wash  while  I  was  inside  shopping.  When  I  got  back the  'van  was  sparkling  and  the  moment  I  removed  the  alarm  they  swung  all  doors  open.  then  they  swiftly  wiped  down  the  door-frames  &  even  the  carpets  got  a  wipe  over  too  surprised .

Normally  I'd  do  it  myself  but  I'm  creaking  like  a  farm  gate  at  the  moment  and  if  I  got  down  to  wash  the  wheels  I'd  need  a  long-jibbed  crane  to  get  me  upright  again embarassed !!

Still  the  alternative  ain't  one  to  select  is  it  wink.

Enjoy  yourselves  with  your shopping, wrapping,  writing, posting,  days off ( sneaky  that  one  David innocent)  and  enjoy  your  'Special  Day'  Goldiekiss

Happy birthday Goldie πŸŽ‚πŸΎπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸΉ. Apart from being nearer Christmas can I ask why celebrations will be nothing flashy like your OH's? I know his was a double celebration but please ensure they you have a big fuss made for you. Show them this and tell them I'll ensure they do πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Lovely bright day. Called into B&Q as I wanted a red bow or similar for my door wreath and it is nextdoor to our Wyevale. Christmas over there, few artificial trees about half a dozen and some  poinsettias and red plants! Felt very bah humbug and very sad as it's still a week before. Got what I went for in Wyevale. Thought I'd call in Asda as I passed, police car blocking the road into the carpark glimpse of a fire engine about the loading bay. Travelled on to another garden centre. Beautifully Christmassy πŸ˜€πŸ˜ƒ. Spoilt for choice but got something, quite pleased with it but next year I'm definitely doing a new wreath.

    Lovely relaxing reflexology this afternoon.

Been awaiting delivery of DIL2B present, saw something online and ordered. Slow on acknowledgement saying there would be a delay because of volume of orders! Was a tracked item and it was then I discovered it was being made in China 😯😯. Sent to Yanwen 11th arrived UK 14th. Checked earlier today, not updated further. It was delivered this afternoon πŸ˜€ phew! It's exactly as shown online πŸ˜€. So that's the shopping all finished wrapping of last bits, need OH to make himself scarce! Mince pies to make, aiming for tomorrow morning, then I'm sorted bar fresh shopping.

Got a trip booked to see Kew Gardens lit up on Friday. Its beginning to feel a bit like Christmas πŸŽ„πŸŽ„
