If it is a 'binding contract' I am sure the CC will know exactly what it has contracted to charge. laughing ........... won't it?
We will see next March. 🤔
Although that booking has been off / on due to redevelopment / postponed redevelopment, all without any notification. So I am not holding my breath.😀

from the booking conditions
Price of Club site pitches and Accuracy
The indicative prices shown on our website and booking app are valid only for the duration that those prices are published. Indicative prices are subject to change at our sole discretion. In the event that indicative prices change, the new published prices will apply to new bookings made and the old published prices will not apply to new bookings.
We make every effort to display prices on our website, booking app and booking confirmation correctly. However occasionally changes and errors occur and we reserve the right to correct prices and other details in such circumstances; prices shown are therefore to be considered as indicative only. The final price for your booking will be determined when you arrive at our Club site. It is only at this point we can confirm your party accords with your booking.
It is always possible that, despite our reasonable efforts, our indicative prices for a Club site may be incorrect. Should we discover an error in the indicative price of your booking, we will confirm this and you can decide whether or not to contract for the correct indicative price. Please note that if the pricing error is obvious and unmistakeable and could have reasonably been recognised by you as a mispricing, we do not have to fulfil your booking to you at the incorrect (lower) price.
From time to time, we may need to make changes to the indicative prices. In such circumstances, the following may apply: (a) where the revised indicative price is less than the indicative price stated in the booking confirmation, we may charge the lower amount; (b) if the revised indicative price is higher than the indicative price stated in the booking confirmation, we will contact you as soon as possible to inform you of this change and provide you the option of continuing your booking at the revised indicative price or cancelling your booking (if we are unable to contact you using the contact details you provided during the booking process, we will treat the booking as cancelled and notify you in writing); or c) where the revised indicative price is higher or less than the price stated at the time of booking we may leave your booking unchanged.
The price of a booking includes VAT (where applicable) at the applicable current rate chargeable in the UK for the time being. However, if the rate of VAT changes between the date of your contract and the date of your stay, we will adjust the VAT you pay.
Hmmmm.

I agree. Just putting it out there 😉. I'm alright Jack, I have no bookings in hand. Still think it's interesting to read/watch. I wonder who will be first to test out the already booked price against the increased one? I do hope they report how it went.

The important information LINK in the email the club sent, does not say anything about having to provide proof at the time of checking in, you should just be charged the original price quoted.😂
You will still pay the original price quoted for bookings made prior to 5 Dec 2018.
On 5 Dec 2018 the prices for 2019 were updated on the website and in our systems. However, the price you pay will be discounted to the original price at check in.

I can't see how the system can provide this info, unless wardens have access to old bookings at old prices...
why would these be available as they are the very thing that's missing...
in that case, it suggests the wardens will 'calculate' the discount applicable at the till....hmm...
and who says it will be applicable without a requirement to produce your booking with that date on it?
assuming members can negotiate they are entitled to a discount it then means that every site has to have to hand the the previous prices, for adults/child/service pitch charge (if that's changed) and extrapolate by the number of each and then by the number of applicable nights....while the queue forms behind...

Exactly as I said BB
The rolling booking programme was going well, new prices came into force on the website at the time usual for prices to increase (looks like April to me), and bookings made and acknowledged were at this new price.
The glitch has come because the Club had miscalculated it’s prices for the 2019 season ( slapped hand for the price setting group), and so decides to up its prices mid season. This is after thousands of folks will have gleefully adopted the rolling bookings, making bookings further in the future, so there are possibly more bookings for next year than usual.
Then the penny drops regarding operating budgets and revenue forecast, and whoops, we need to charge customers more. So a mid term price increase is put into place, which impacts on all those thousands of bookings, post April, that have already been made. To further add to the issue, an email reaches some, not all, members saying book before 5th Dec and get the original price increase, not the recalculated price increase, meaning that many more folks benefit from the original 2019 prices.
Then, someone checks with IT, whose reaction must have been meltdown. As no doubt will be the reaction of lots of Wardens who are going to be at the sharp end of all this come April.
After April 2020, things should be ok, providing the Club doesn’t do another mid term price panic, but it’s going to be an interesting year both for the Wardens and frustrated visitors.
On the customer care front, at least the Club has honoured the booked prices, which on some sites, for a fornights holiday could be in the £40-50 region, not something folks on a budget are going to tolerate quietly. All you have to do, is prove it!

So which is it? This appears to have all the clarity of another 585 page document plus 26 page addendum which is exercising the minds of some 650 people.

I have put in a report asking if the club can clarify wether email confirmation of booking will be required to get the discount. As it does not say it will, but as BB points out, does not say it won't.
If it is there will be a lot of annoyed customers who do not keep them and perhaps have relied on my bookings. Also as I have already mentioned, if you have had to make a booking in two halves as it was across months, you receive no confirmation of the amendment. I would imagine that will apply to quite a few.

Quoted text from BB's last missive.
I made a booking on 12th.November for a 1 night stay en route home from the ferry next year. The confirmation email quite clearly shows the price so all one has to do is produce your email.

After seeing the price increases i can only now assume the CAMC only wants to appeal to the richer members of society as it has now priced itself out our price ranges, having sat and looked at what we can and can't now afford for us to continue caravaning we have booked all our next years travels to private sites, in one case saving over £150.00 for a stay of two weeks, so no brainer, and what's more disturbing, it is an affiliated site.
After being a members for over 15 years we fear this will be our last with the club, become far to elitist.

WN, and that's fine....but not all have a printer, nor indeed a mobile device that shows mails....
"its on my laptop at home......"
even if you have the email, I'm sure there will be some 'checking'.
Moulesy suggested reverting prices at the till now, this is a perfectly valid (and speedy) recovery position...and, as the prices at the till are the ones we pay and would be the same as the ones we booked, all will be roses....
there will be a turnover impact until all is resolved but this will give the accounts team and IT team a bit of leeway to discuss what they really want to do and how they should implement it, because this is now an ingrained ongoing issue....price rises will now always occur between booking and arrivial for very many every year.
provided that they placate customers now and fully understand how to carry the booked price to the till, they can kill two birds etc....
once they're confident of the IT 'bit' they can then make this coming price change again as soon as the system is fixed..
ongoing, all pre-price change bookings will be charged at that correct price and they can put in as many price changes as they like each year (not advocating that, btw) and all will be correct at the till and My Bookings.

That's my concern too, BB, how the wardens on arrival will be able to calculate the correct "old" price.
I've just had a look at another booking for Bolton Abbey. I originally booked that for 6 nights for the end of October 2019, prior to going to York. I amended that booking to 3 nights before the 5th of December. The cost then was £19.50 per night for pitch+2. The new price is now £21.90 per night, an increase of £2.40 per night, quite an increase, well over 10%. Interestingly, the "From" price for the site is quoted as still being £19.50; yes, it is, for all of 1 night in 2019, and it's the last night it's open for the 2019 season, the night of the 3rd of November!!

It’s a long time since I preset any POS units, 15 years or more. But even back then each individual POS unit had the capacity for well over 100 preset buttons. More than enough to double up on two sets of prices, which might be the way out next year. Will still require proof of a pre or post 5th December booking date though.
Perhaps all it requires is linking some unique numbers, ie membership number of person who made booking (on membership card), the booking reference number given in both email and my profile confirmation, and then if, and it’s a big if, the POS units are linked to the central IT system at HQ, it can all be linked to give the date booked, and therefore the price to be charged. (This must be how sophisticated IT systems such as Tesco online work, and can update any variables.) I am sure online booking systems have come on a long way since my day’s tinkering with them, but it’s having the capacity to link the unique numbers that could speed things up?
Just pondering, not sure if it’s possible.....

What, and admit that they've got something wrong. Definitely not in their vocabulary!

so I have just looked at all my booking for 2019 against email confirmation and my bookings on my profile and all have been increased in price on my profile I will be phoning the caravan club Monday morning and will be having stearn words with them to change all my prices back on my profile they have been booked 12 months in advance and only 1 booking was made on the 5th of December for new year 2019-2020 due to working and holidays I also want to know I have booked for 1 child on every booking and if he doesn't want to come I will amend like I allways have will I have to pay the new prices even though these bookings were made before 5th December??? if they say that all prices when booked will be honoured I will ask for email and written confirmation of this .
can anyone blow the email up as I haven't received this particular email and cannot read it on the first post
one of the reason I am doing all this is when you book a holiday abroad "package holiday" regardless weather the price goes up your confirmation never goes up. this is also the case when purchasing anything eg cars when you order a new car the price is the price quoted not if the company decides it wants to increase the prices before you collect the vehicle.
wonder how many people delete the email conformation when it arrives and will have to pay the increased prices when they arrive onsite.
I am also one for saving electricity but if this is the case the club will get ready when I arrive on site if they say I have to pay the new prices I will make the electric meter spin like there is no tomorrow to get my money back
I have hillhead booked for 14 nights o an awning pitch and the increase is from £588 to £600 don't they think that the £588 is enough and by the lord I can easily get the £12 back no problem I am an electrician and know exactly what to use to maximise electrical usage without blowing appliances and tripping electrics
I am not a happy bunny

SJ37, I can only post the pic in the size the forum software will allow but I’ve managed to enlarge an extract that is relevant to you. If you read earlier posts and follow the link, it is all explained.
PS. You may well know how to play the electric game but think of your fellow campers rather than 'revenge' on the club.

If you right click on the image in Tinwheeler's original post and use the "save image as" function and save it to your desktop if using a Windows machine. Once save it will open in a readable size.

SteveJ, this is the e-mail that I received and although not the same as TW's it contains virtually the same info. If you read it along with the blow-up from TW I'm sure you'll get the message. Hope this helps.
"Dear Mr .........
It’s never too early to plan your 2019 adventure, especially if it can save you money. Book before midnight on 4 Dec and you can take advantage of our prices before they increase slightly in 2019. This is to cover the rising price of utilities and the day to day costs of running a network of 160 UK Club Sites.
Many Members have already taken advantage of this, so don’t miss out.

I am not sure what people's main concern is on this subject. Is it that prices have increased twice in a shorter than normal period or is it that people are concerned they won't get the pre 5th December booking prices when they arrive on site? If its the latter, Rowena has categorically stated:-
While you will see that the booking total has increased when you view your bookings on-line (this applies to bookings made pre 5 Dec), the site staff will be notified on their system at point of arrival that the booking needs to be manually discounted.
Is it the case that people don't believe this will be the case when they turn up on site? I am sure it would be prudent to to have the printed version of the original email confirmation to hand when you arrive on site as that has the original price when booked. I am just concerned people are working themselves up into a frenzy on this matter which will have the affect of taking any enjoyment out of looking forward to their stay which would be a shame.
