We’re packing. However, just been into our large attic and think we need another sort out. Not helped by the bike workshop that seems to have grown up there!surprised I think this years festive wreath might involve a bicycle wheel......or two........or three🤣🤣🤣

    Just catching up,

Husky sorry to read about your wife, my OH has just got over his Shingles and he was in a lot of pain, it must be very hard for your wife.

Had to collect the caravan from storage yesterday and put it on the drive, we found out the road to the storage site is closed from today and we wouldn't have had access, and we need the van at the weekend.

Weather not been good, heavy showers, but mild, OH has been out in the garage fitting a new brake hose on the MG, and a bit if welding. I've been at work, boss delivered a trailer load of Christmas trees to the BBC at the weekend. cool

All the talk of clearing out, reminds me I must get the spare bedroom sorted before Christmas surprised

Had a visitor this afternoon so clearing out put on hold yell

Pneumococcal jab done no problem, arm not stiff or sore so far.smile

Would love to go away for a few days but just toooooooo much work to do. Haven't even thought about Christmas yet, no cards bought no presents, wouldn't even have an idea of what anyone wants.

Shingles, Mum had them on her head and face twice and once on her back and front. Sister had them on her back and front. I've had them but only mild (and that was bad enough) on my left shoulder and all down my left arm. It really is an awful painful thing to have, if the jab can help prevent it then why wait until folk are 70 before giving it to them.

Very muddy (for me) on "our" walks today no problem for Rosa and four paw drive, several really heavy showers have washed the leaf fall down the roads into large piles on the corners,

Our post office ( in the co op) has been closed on several days because of staff sickness.there was a "scratch crew" in today,  and it showed,as they seemed a bit out of their depth and had run out of stampssurprised

Husky commiserations to your wife, and you 😉. Sounds dreadful. I worked with someone who got shingles of the eyes - very very poorly!

I've never had chicken pox, I think I may have said before? They closed our primary school and we were sent to play with the kids that had it, as you were in those days, but neither I nor my brother caught it. Missed it when my children got it, theres almost 5 years between them so 2 separate occasions. Hoping that means I won't encounter shingles. Eldest granddaughter had her chicken pox jab last Friday.

Bought my Christmas stamps when I posted my NZ cards first thing this morning.

Very grey but mild day, went out into the garden to tidy and cut back but showers drove me in after an hour  when one didn't pass swiftly and the breeze got up. So have up on that and tackled the Christmas cards. One of the reasons I wasn't looking forward to the task as my Christmas card address book was overflowing last year after almost 30 years use 😲. Crossing out of deceased 😢, change of addresses etc so I'd written a list but not included addresses! Completed the task and enjoyed it, but not done neighbours yet, and decided I needed a new book so walked into town and bought one. Struck while the iron was hot and transferred all details neatly into the book so the task should be more straightforward next year!! I won't post until the end of the week as I don't like to receive mine too early, but that said we have 2 already. 1 from NZ which took 3 days from franked date to arrival which beats any previous record!

Where next enjoy your quiet week, I expect you'll be lost without them 😉.

Helenandtrevor good job you knew the road was closing otherwise ......... 😲😲.

Takethedogalong where are you iff to? I know it's a cottage, so I do pay attention 😉, just forgotten destination if you said! Enjoy.

Please all of you don't mention sorting and clearing out it's something that needs doing here but were not good at it!

Bright sunny day again hurray! flipping cold over night though, we still have a thick covering of frost where the sun has been.

Another and hopefully last coat of varnish done upstairs. OH had a trip to the skip with another car load of rubbish. Called in at the builders place but couldn't get what he was after so a trip into town required later on today.

I have an appointment with my 'back' lady, nice massage smile

By the time we get back from all that I doubt we shall have time for anymore work upstairs so I guess it will have to be the ironing frown

Hope others are having a nice sunny day to.

Have had to stay in today awaiting a late delivery from France (delayed because of the turmoil there.) Parcel company wont leave it where we requested and no idea of time!

We had a lovely sunny but frosty start to the day but the skies have "lowered" so not so good now.

Had a lovely day out enjoying what I enjoy best, walking and looking at nature, on the Wirral.

Got home late afternoon and whilst having a coffee opened a new library book, Eat Better, Live Longer. Always have a cookery book to hand. This one supposed to tell you which foods are best avoided and which to eat more of (as it says on the tin). Well, I came across a highlighted text which will change everyone womans life, if they wish....

"A Japanese study showed that women drinking the most green tea were 17 per cent less likely to die..."

Why hasn't David Attenborough done a programme on these never dying women? Has anyone seen a 150 year old woman yet?

Kind of makes you take everything else with a (reduced) pinch of low salt.

Not a good day today. Woke up to a cold morning but sunshine so OH decided to do some washing. By the time the machine was on down came the freezing mist, which lasted most of the morning. Then the washing machine gave up the ghost part way through the spin cycle, although fortunately we were able to open it. So off to town to get a new washer, as we've no time to hang about because we head off for our Christmas trip early next week. Delivery on Saturday so all should we be well for when we return.

What a lovely thing to do moulesy. Do you take Lady with you as well or is it strictly one to one with the cocker spaniel? (Our son and DIL's cocker is quite a strong willed young lady as well laughing)

Yes, well done Moulesy. One of our neighbours became a dog walker for a charity but had to give up due to illness. He found it excillerating.

Chucking it down at the moment but I need to go out. Stay safe everyone.

A nice thing to do Moulesy, my nephew used to walk RSPCA dogs in Bristol, he used to escape from the office and enjoy some fresh air. It's a good way to help and get out and about...not that you need it! With our very old dog just now I miss those walks.  smile

At the moment I'm walking her separately until she gets used to me. There's no hard and fast rule, though, so sooner or later I'll take the two together. So possibly a few pounds shed by me before you-know-what comes around, but definitely a few pounds for the dog (she'said called Judy) to shed! smile

    Well done M.

When I was around 30 I became friendly with a pensioner of around 75 who turned out to be a distant relation of my wife. She was taken into hospital and thought that to be the end. Her dog was taken in by a neighbour and when I found out the next day I collected the short haired roly poly terrier. Grossly overweight. The lady was in hospital for 8 weeks and made a full recovery.

I visited a couple of times a week and when she was feeling better during the last few weeks in hospital took her outside in a wheelchair to see her beloved dog.

When she finally got home the dog was slim and she kept it that way with regular strolls and Less Food and Treats. smile

Husky great news re the stair lift.

Moulesy what a lovely thing to do, the charity sounds great.  OH has been walking neighbours little dog this week, as she has Shingles now.

Nellie hope new washing machine turns up and doesn't delay your next trip away.

DIL rang this afternoon to ask us to have 2 grandsons for a sleepover on Friday night. Just one slight snag. One of the bedrooms they sleep in was full of Chistmas presents, christmas decorations, and christmas paper. I have just spent a couple of hours moving everything to somewhere it cant be seen. We have also wrapped up their presents so no peeking!!

We have to wait in tomorrow for a man or woman to come and look at our non working dishwasher. We have also priced up a new one in JL so we have some idea whether a repair is financially viable. We have been keeping old fashioned crafts alive by washing up by hand this week 😣

    That's what we did.

The new one should be in and used before we head off on Tuesday. There'll be problems for some if it's not!!

Thanks Helen, we should get away ok, all being well.
