Found >this< well made video on U-Tube. I think even seasoned travellers will find at least some of it of interest.

    If he thinks Red Pennant is a 'little' more expensive I wonder what he'd consider as a 'lot' more expensive? 🤔

    Travel insurance as one gets "older"becomes almost a vital part of any overseas trips and Red Pennant is well known and trusted ,and one we always used when going "over there"in the past,cost against peace of mind No Contestlaughing

    Just had a watch of it. There were some good points in it particularly about route planning although personally I would no longer do those number of miles per day but we did when we were younger! It did cross my mind that a series of shorter videos dealing with each topic separately might hold the attention a bit more. I think it sometimes difficult to appreciate such videos when you have a lot of personal experience of touring abroad but we all had to start somewhere and for the newcomer it is a good starting point.

    I started to watch it but quickly thought Oh lord, right from the start it assumes a dog is a necessary accompaniment ....  and pressed Delete.

    On the other hand a dog owner would have been pleased to hear the words that insurance from RP covering the repatriation of their pet. Not all insurance companies will take this on and it's something to think about.

    I thought the route planning was bit on the OCD side ...  I set my sat-nav & follow it using a bit of common sense ... certainly don't go to street view

    Well there you are embarassed

    I didn't get far with the film but if the man with the little dog on a cushion in his van was showing people how you can take the animal on a lead to go and see the Impressionist paintings in the Musee d'Orsay, or go up the cable car to the top of the Aiguille fu Midi, or look around  the Duomo in Pisa ...then perhaps it was useful after all.

    After the euphoria of watching the dog at the beginninglaughing I settled down to watch the remainder of the video, well made and informative for those that might take the first step over the water. You could have skipped the beginning and perhaps picked up a few tips wink

    And also realised they were going to Portugal...slightly off the beaten track for Parisian Museums and the Duomo in Pisa. Bit of a detour for that Eurotraveller? undecided

    You can hardly use common sense if you did not know what town your heading for.

    Unless I missed it, I did think he could have mentioned carrying paper maps for back up and ease of looking at the overall route.

    He did suggest writing down a list of towns etc on the route, particularly if you are on your own and haven't got a passenger who could help.

    Whether travelling as a couple or alone via Michelin is my guide.  I make sure the route selected using Michelin is the correct one entered in the sat nav.
