Electric problem Buxton
We have just stayed on the Buxton site, and although the wardens are friendly and the site looks nice, we were somewhat disappointed that after all that money spent, they have problems with the electrics.
The underfloor heating in the block was faulty and not working, at the end of October with cold mornings and nights, not really good enough when you see a notice go up, engineers coming early part of week to fix it, we left on Wednesday and it hadn't been fixed, with only 1 block, you can't use another !
Several of the electric bollards were lit all day, I mentioned it to the staff, and was told that the electrical contractors were going to look at them along with electrical load supplies in November when they were closed, don't worry they are LED and don't use much, we are all advised that we need to consider our electric use, and the club don't seem to care !
My friends were going to join us, but the online booking showed full, so give up, however when I spoke to them, I told them that there loads of empty pitches, again I spoke to the wardens and they said due to electrical supply problems they had to run at reduced occupancy, all this when the site has been open for over 2 months, are the electrical contractors picking up this lost revenue and should we be expecting more from a refurbished site, I hope we the contract is being reviewed for 2019.
I would like an explanation from the sites department on this debacle, after all it is our money being wasted here ?

You will be very lucky to get a reply from any one apart from another member when posting on the review page ,I would send an email direct to the club, and good luck with that as I have sent two in the last three weeks and apart from an automated acknowlelement have heard nothing

A few lights permanently on and underfloor heating temporarily unavailable. Doesn’t sound much of a problem to me.

I agree with you Garry it is very poor
I bet they didn't reduce your site fees or offer you another stay when they have fixed the problems.
It always amazes me how long they have sites closed for refurbishment, housing estates get built quicker than a toilet block
If you stayed in a hotel would you accept such shoddy standards?

Things break and go wrong, it’s life.
The problems are known and repair is scheduled. The wardens are being proactive in reducing occupancy until it’s sorted. The site is still very usable in the meantime do I don’t see a problem worthy of the fuss and bluster.
Dawn, in your hotel analogy you omitted mention of the obvious solution which is to check out and go elsewhere.

You can hardly expect a reduction / free stay for lack of a heated floor. The site lights on in daylight can hardly be counted as an inconvenience. At others CAMC sites with underfloor heating we have stayed on, there have also been other heat sources. The heated floor is a nice extra but hardly essential.
As to running with a reduced number of pitches. I know Buxton has had power issues in the past. Perhaps the club were not able to get these sorted prior to opening this year. As JVB stated an answer on CT is unlikely. Although, as I can't report mine, I have reported your post asking for a comment on the power issues.

I'm sorry to read there have been issues on the site with regards to the electrics. I have forwarded this to the Regional Manager to find out more about the situation and will post again when I have more information.

Looking at the FB Group pages, there have been other reports of power problems during the cold spell.The plain fact is modern vans are full of electrical appliances and there is no incentive to be careful with use. While this state of affairs continues there will always be problems on busy sites with supplies during cold snaps.

And how will that fix the problems at this site? Will having a lower ampage make the underfloor heating work? And switch off the lights?
If you want a thread about metering start one but don't hijack this one?

Yes I saw that but you suggested having a lower ampage. How will a lower ampage address the problems in the OP. If they can't then why try and hijack the thread?

We wouldn’t have noticed either aspects. Don’t use the bogs, as we have our own fully heated ensuite, and we would be off site in daylight hours having an adventure! Or pioneering, depends where we are.......🤔

That was my thought, if not then not a big issue.
If it is the only source then yes it will be chilly but as most vans have full facilities on board, again no big issue.
Bollards light during the day - again annoying for some but as its going to be sorted - no big issue.

I once had the pleasure of being on a clubsite when it had a three hour power cut. For me it would beworth paying a premium for the sight of people running arround panicking because their leccy has gone off, was hilarious and well worth paying for.
Interestingly it actually got people out of their vans and talking and as far as I know, no one actually died.

I tend to agree David. I don't require a facility site particularly but, if that is what I have paid for I expect full usage. Can't say that I would miss underfloor heating though. My bare feet generally only contact the shower base and that is pre-warmed by setting up the shower temperature and adjusting the temperature and flow before stepping in.

As a plot for an adventure story, this has all the elements.
It has a heroine, it has a situtation of (mild) peril, it has a villain you have even suggested a title.
So here is my pitch
Tommorow never comes
It was April, and no one told her that the shower might be cold and he didn’t care.
I’m sure the marketing department could turn this into a multi page story once they have decide whether it is best to use a stock picture of a photogenic couple looking out over the view from a hill top or stock picture of photogenic couple on mountain bikes. The excitement never stops.
