To Mark and Pam. Obviously the terms and conditions relating to the caravan being on - site at a CMC site for the season is not suiting your family's requirements.  -----------There are other Caravanning organisations and private sites in Scotland which have different T&C's  that  might better suit your family's requirements, which you might  care to investigate at the end of the contract with the CMC..

Wherever you choose, I do hope that your family requirements are met.

And their requirements are exceeded, let alone met. 👍🏻

Who knows, and in truth, who cares apart from the OP. It's their choice, their options. Good they found something to suit.

Cost wise it’s the same for the season pitch.. except all the family can enjoy the site all year without paying another lot of pitch fees..  Thanks for all the helpful advice from some of you guys.

To the people who don’t think the rule should be reviewed as I simply stated in my OP, it’s the old saying”don’t bite the hand that feeds you” The CC need new blood, that ain’t happening!!

But it could be said it only needed reviewing as you couldn't get what you wanted?

And I've been hearing that new blood thing for over 19 years now, yet the club is still here?

I suppose the crux of this might be that CAMC is a club which offers benefits to members unlike commercial sites which are open to all comers.

The club views family and friends as non-members, which they are, so it could be argued that non-members are not entitled to the benefits provided by membership. Commercial sites don’t bother as they’re only interested in the bottom line which is demonstrated by the example given by EasyT regarding charging extra for electricity.

With the number of members the club has not sure why they should change the rules to encourage new members?  Getting members doesn't seem to be a problem to them.  I would question why your dad joined the caravan and motorhome club to then site his van for the season, surely one of the biggest benefits of the club is the variety of sites available.  Maybe next year he should look for a commercial site that does seasonal pitches and allows you to visit for free which it sounds like is what you were expecting

MarkandPam, so glad you have found something more suitable for your family and in such a lovely place as Aberfeldy. We know it well having owned a timeshare there for many years.

ET, even if they have to pay for electricity, I very much doubt it will cost £30 a night.

I doubt that it will either Tammy. I have no idea on the full terms of their deal but as long as it works for them it sounds good. The CC terms suit some well and others less so.

But it doesn't make it right! What is right is questionable but to flaunt the present rules or disregard them is not right either. It puts folk, both members and staff in difficult if not confrontational positions. Like the laws of the land ignorance is not an excuse. Afterall, rules are there in order to be fair to all.

So for example, if you are a member of a golf course, can others use your clubs on that course for free? It's not the clubs, it's not the caravan or that pitch, it's you that is the member. The member with the opportunity and 'contract' to stay on that pitch, on that site!
