What are you all up to

Heavy rain in SE Wales from about 5:00 this morning, so it was a wet walk out before breakfast for Flyte and myself. Fortunately it eventually stopped by the time we were ready to pack up for the off. There was little wind as we crossed the over by the Severn Bridge and the sun came out by the time we got to our CL near Highbridge. Looks as if we'll have a clear sky tonight although I guess that it will be cool.

oneputt...would be interested to know which site you were able to arrive so late at.

Harwich to Hook is a crossing we like, but the late arrival time is a bit of a problem.

Last time we booked Delftse Hout, but we were not impressed   by the pitch we were given.

We would prefer to drive on further if we could arrive late at a site, we would be heading into Germany.

Moved down to Agde yesterday very hot 32c, overnight 26c. Woke to a cooler day today as a stiff breeze, been lovely all day. Went out food shopping this morning on the bikes then spot of lunch, out again this afternoon cycled up to the Canal du Midi and along it for awhile. Came back along the far bank of the river Herault aiming to get the little ferry back over to our side of the river only to find it wasn't running today. Had to cycle back into town and then back along our side of the river, longer ride than intended but the weather was great.

We returned home yesterday after a very enjoyable 4 night break in the Lake District. We were staying at Troutbeck Head C&MC site which is one of our favourites. They have done a very good job with the refurbishment the pitches have been redeveloped and the toilet block has been improved and is now much better laid out and much more modern. We visited Keswick, Windermere, Penrith and Ambleside during our trip. We were lucky weather wise so all in all a good trip. We are away again at the end of next week which will be a 9 night break in Yorkshire looking forward to that. Hope everyone else who is away are having a good time.

We woke to a bit of ground frost, as expected, and another fine sunny day. First job was washing the bedding etc, before we headed off to Brean, passed all the caravan sites Dodgy , none of which we'd consider stopping on nah . Parked at the N/T car park and walked the length of the Downs to the Old Fort, where we had our picnic lunch, and back. Even less height than yesterday, but still grand views. Stopped off at Lidl at Burnham for some provisions and Asda at Highbridge for petrol.

Glad that you've got back safe and sound, WN. Just a pity that you've had to cut your trip short as the weather's supposed to last this good till the weekend at least. Still needs must, I suppose.

Just got a letter today from our GP re Flu vaccinations, mine is scheduled for 13/11, so a long time away yet.

Keeping busy with this "new house", rebuilding walls finished, now working on door frames to have them in oak, not easy!

We need a plasterer now, but that is proving problematical.

Old house still not sold.  They have an offer, but it is well below (£15k)  what they ideally need.  If they have to take it then we will have to lend them several thousands to tide them over for a year or so. I suppose that is what the bank of Mum and Dad is for!

Plenty of viewers want their house, they just do not have, or can borrow, enough money to pay the right price for it!

Arrived back yesterday,  at our seasonal, after a lovely week at my sisters place in the Provence. Temperatures were unusually high for the time of year, generally 30 / 33C, although we did get one cooler day when the mistral was blowing. It was a bonus missing the gales and rain of last week, lots of leaves are down, so it was clearly quite strong.

It was a rather longer than scheduled journey back, as a TGV broke down ahead of ours and we were diverted off the high speed tracks onto normal line, so our speed was cut from 180 to 70 mph. As a result we missed our connection in Lille. Eurostar were great though, rebooked us and lots of others on another train. Unfortunately for those of us going to Ashford, it didn't stop there, so we had go further towards London and get off at Ebbsfleet. As promised there was a Eurostar person waiting with tickets for the standard train back to Ashford. So apart from time, 8.25 rather than 5.5 hours, no real problem.

Stopped in the Ashford Travel Lodge, as planned, on Monday night and visited Dover Castle, for a few hours, before traveling back yesterday. It's well worth a visit and really needs a full day. The war time tunnels, many of which were carved out at the time of Napoleon, were fascinating. The views from the top of Henry II keep, stunning. It's an English Heritage site and members get in without further charge, except for special events. If not it would probably be worth joining, as the entry fee, which isn't excessive considering what there is to see, would have been half our annual membership.

The M20 was free flowing, going back 😀( well limited to 50 mph) having been closed on our journey down.☹️
