Glad that your crossing was fine OP, and that you've arrived at your campsite safely.

Enjoy your stay at FM, JVB, it's obviously going to be a busy time for you there.

It has no right to be fine in the Lakes when we're away from Cumbria, Francis.wink You must have done something right lately. Have a good stay.

Hope you had loads of fun on the beach today, tda.

Heavy rain in SE Wales from about 5:00 this morning, so it was a wet walk out before breakfast for Flyte and myself. Fortunately it eventually stopped by the time we were ready to pack up for the off. There was little wind as we crossed the over by the Severn Bridge and the sun came out by the time we got to our CL near Highbridge. Looks as if we'll have a clear sky tonight although I guess that it will be cool.

oneputt...would be interested to know which site you were able to arrive so late at.

Harwich to Hook is a crossing we like, but the late arrival time is a bit of a problem.

Last time we booked Delftse Hout, but we were not impressed   by the pitch we were given.

We would prefer to drive on further if we could arrive late at a site, we would be heading into Germany.

As you say Rocky stunning.  Your pic reminded me that it’s not always the case that the weather is always better over there still heavy rain showers here and cold this morning at 6C.

Off to Celle later to stock up and maybe have lunch at a Mongolian Schnell Imbiss🍺

K I come to a site 14 miles west of Celle.  My brother has stayed here for a considerable while and is treated as a family member of the owners.  So they arrange access for me plus electric is already set up.smile

Another stunning morning here as well, East Coast is lovely at sunrise. Early morning walkies for me, across stubble fields, better than grass at moment as lots of morning dew now. I use the term walkies loosely, the canine family members are limping, an excess of beach madness!laughing

We have a flock of partridges visiting each morning on patio here, pretty little birds. I will try and get a photo.

Might be mighty Bamburgh and Seahouses for us today. This holidaying is such hard work............smile

A busy week ahead but a nice evening off planned on Wednesday to see Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra play the New World symphony and an extra treat next weekend seeing the Syd Lawrence big band. So that should liven my brain up a bit! wink

Can't match R2B for colour, but am currently pitched up on a CL in the Chilterns with superb views, red kites wheeling/gliding over head at about 20ft., weather dry but getting colder at nights.

Just watched 'Biggles' practising his aerobatics, along with a smoke trail.

Can hardly hear the hum of traffic on the M40 - (perhaps I need new batteries in my hearing aidslaughing.) Seriously though have never been here before - always passed through, wow what an area of outstanding beauty.

Thought the 3rd WW had started but it was only the German panzers live firing on Hohne ranges.  Spent the last couple of hours trying to figure out with Virgin why my phone wouldn’t connect with networks ‘over there’.  Hopefully will be sorted by the morning.  Been very showery and autumnal today, so much so that heating in on in the van. ❄️☔️🔥

    Grand atmospheric photo Rocky!

Concerts sound good brue, hope you enjoy them both.

Sorry to hear that your weather's not too good OP.Hope that it picks up tomorrow for you.

Lovely sunny day in N.Somerset, but a bit chilly when the breeze got up. Drove down Cheddar Gorge and then onto N/T car park at Kings Wood. Walked to the far end of Wavering Downs and back....what great views!! Clear sky tonight so we might have a bit of ground frost by morning.

Moved down to Agde yesterday very hot 32c, overnight 26c. Woke to a cooler day today as a stiff breeze, been lovely all day. Went out food shopping this morning on the bikes then spot of lunch, out again this afternoon cycled up to the Canal du Midi and along it for awhile. Came back along the far bank of the river Herault aiming to get the little ferry back over to our side of the river only to find it wasn't running today. Had to cycle back into town and then back along our side of the river, longer ride than intended but the weather was great.

Oneputt, you at Winsen Aller by any chance?wink

We returned home yesterday after a very enjoyable 4 night break in the Lake District. We were staying at Troutbeck Head C&MC site which is one of our favourites. They have done a very good job with the refurbishment the pitches have been redeveloped and the toilet block has been improved and is now much better laid out and much more modern. We visited Keswick, Windermere, Penrith and Ambleside during our trip. We were lucky weather wise so all in all a good trip. We are away again at the end of next week which will be a 9 night break in Yorkshire looking forward to that. Hope everyone else who is away are having a good time.

Travelled back home today from our CL near Bath. All went well, as surprisingly easy drive, albeit a bit longer than I like to do.Mrs WN just put in her third lot of washing, car unpacked, emails sorted and now perusing likely CL sites for next week.smile.

Supposed to have my flu jab next week but they'll just have to wait for me.

Glad you enjoyed your trip over Wavering Down, NTH. Just goes to show that you don't have to be up a mountain to find a view.

Where are off to next TG? Still finding plenty of sites open at this time of September or just one or two?

We woke to a bit of ground frost, as expected, and another fine sunny day. First job was washing the bedding etc, before we headed off to Brean, passed all the caravan sites Dodgy , none of which we'd consider stopping on nah . Parked at the N/T car park and walked the length of the Downs to the Old Fort, where we had our picnic lunch, and back. Even less height than yesterday, but still grand views. Stopped off at Lidl at Burnham for some provisions and Asda at Highbridge for petrol.

Glad that you've got back safe and sound, WN. Just a pity that you've had to cut your trip short as the weather's supposed to last this good till the weekend at least. Still needs must, I suppose.

Not sure where we are going to next WN laughing sites here are closing down in a weeks time so will have to get the books out. We still have 4 weeks left until we need to be home so might even wander into Spain if I can persuade OH. Weather is still very good here this year much better than this time last year.

Had a cycle ride along to Cap de Agde this afternoon, then an hour on the beach. This time last year they were empty but today really busy, yet the sites are fairly quiet.

OP, yes having a good time, enjoying the good weather and being able to get out and about more. Sorry its so cold up your way maybe you'll get an Indian summer.undecided

Just got a letter today from our GP re Flu vaccinations, mine is scheduled for 13/11, so a long time away yet.

Keeping busy with this "new house", rebuilding walls finished, now working on door frames to have them in oak, not easy!

We need a plasterer now, but that is proving problematical.

Old house still not sold.  They have an offer, but it is well below (£15k)  what they ideally need.  If they have to take it then we will have to lend them several thousands to tide them over for a year or so. I suppose that is what the bank of Mum and Dad is for!

Plenty of viewers want their house, they just do not have, or can borrow, enough money to pay the right price for it!

Unfortunately it seems to be a buyers market especially where we live so most folk seem to be spending more on their current house instead of moving.  That also means good tradesmen are hard to find.  People offering SIL a premium to move their jobs up the queue.

Another cold start to the day over here, still only 5C, it’s a shock to the system after our lovely summer, still it’s dry so that’s good.

Decided it’s going to be a day of walking over the heathland

You sound busy KJ, the housing market is different across the country. We tend to get new moves from the "home counties" round here where buyers sell expensive properties and pay more to move in. Unfortunately it pushes up prices for the locals. It has slowed up recently which shows that some have decided not to move.

Our daughter in law has been here overnight, it was nice to see her. We are hoping their NE house purchase will go through but it's all a bit unpredictable. They were lucky to find a place they could afford as houses get snapped up where they are moving. She was a bit surprised to see the extent of the contents of her old home squeezed into ours!

Cold start here, we've had some early frosts. Potato machinery on the go this morning. Time to buy a big bag that will last through the winter, the local farms sell them.

Nice to here folk seem to be having such a good time on their travels. Good luck with the awning JVB.

Arrived back yesterday,  at our seasonal, after a lovely week at my sisters place in the Provence. Temperatures were unusually high for the time of year, generally 30 / 33C, although we did get one cooler day when the mistral was blowing. It was a bonus missing the gales and rain of last week, lots of leaves are down, so it was clearly quite strong.

It was a rather longer than scheduled journey back, as a TGV broke down ahead of ours and we were diverted off the high speed tracks onto normal line, so our speed was cut from 180 to 70 mph. As a result we missed our connection in Lille. Eurostar were great though, rebooked us and lots of others on another train. Unfortunately for those of us going to Ashford, it didn't stop there, so we had go further towards London and get off at Ebbsfleet. As promised there was a Eurostar person waiting with tickets for the standard train back to Ashford. So apart from time, 8.25 rather than 5.5 hours, no real problem.

Stopped in the Ashford Travel Lodge, as planned, on Monday night and visited Dover Castle, for a few hours, before traveling back yesterday. It's well worth a visit and really needs a full day. The war time tunnels, many of which were carved out at the time of Napoleon, were fascinating. The views from the top of Henry II keep, stunning. It's an English Heritage site and members get in without further charge, except for special events. If not it would probably be worth joining, as the entry fee, which isn't excessive considering what there is to see, would have been half our annual membership.
Photos are of the Roman lighthouse and H2's keep and France from the top of it.

The M20 was free flowing, going back 😀( well limited to 50 mph) having been closed on our journey down.☹️

Train is a great way to travel "over there",we went to Lake Garda two years ago,but like everything these days one "problem"can really cause on going difiiculties, but despite as usual the few who love to complain the "back up system"norma ly works finelaughing

We got really delayed in Germany one year on a coach tour,we were 3 hrs in a roadworks traffic jam,but there was no back up then, and the "locals" did not seem to copesurprised

Hi everyone.  Just thought I'd pop down to say hello and let you know that I'm finally off on Monday (1st October) to have my right knee replaced.  The anesthetist has finally given the go ahead after doing so many checks and tests. I went to see him yesterday and he arranged for me to come in straight away.  It will be a good job to get it done and dusted now.  Hopefully I'll be up and running (well perhaps not literally) before the pre-Christmas concert season begins.  I would hope to carry on very much as usual in the meantime - Carol will act a chauffeur.  I do have a wedding to play for next Saturday - but I've managed the organ before with one leg!  I think I'll get someone on standby, just in case... smile
