What are you all up to

Still keeping busy at the "new" house, which is actually about 85-90 years old as far as we can make out. The demolition in the main bedroom and en suite is almost complete, the false wall having been removed in the bedroom and the basins removed in the bathroom. Still the relocated door opening to cut and the towel radiator to move.
The bath has arrived and we have checked that it will fit as planned. Now we have to measure up for and order the new materials and start putting everything back together, which hopefully shoud go more quickly than the demolition!
The "old" house, only 5-6 years old, is still not sold, and now one of the similar ones that was sold some 7 weeks back has just come back onto the market, which is very bad news.
OH and DD have been out looking at tiles and flooring, and buying paint, and DD has decided to push the boat out and get oak skirtings etc for the bedroom. There is also talk of a wooden floor to be laid in herring-bone pattern, that should be interesting!

One of the advantages of living on the coast is that generally one is travelling against the flow of the majority. Just to be safe I don't usually venture out on bank holidays. As a former banker, of course bank holidays should only be for bank staff then we wouldn't get all these traffic jams.

My children had similar views to yourself CY when they were at school. Teacher training days were called Baker Days, after the then education Secretary Kenneth Baker (also their grandfather 😉), they took exception to the other children getting 'their day off!

Nice sunny morning but chilly wind. Food shopping awaits!
Haven't found anywhere convenient to go before our trip on Monday, so we'll be travelling Monday morning, OH is going to check out for onward move 😁 not sure when 😲 but we have a full week from today to come up with a plan 😂.
Husky hope the source of your water drip can be located and remedied quickly. KjellNN would be good in such an emergency but he seems fully employed at present 😉. I hope it doesn't cause too much damage.
Tammygirl sometimes what you wanted to achieve doesn't align with the gods - better luck today 😂. Don't get the ispdea the rest of the country are basking in wall to wall sunshine, we certainly aren't!! It hasn't been cold through grey and muggy most of the time. Wish we had time to nip over the channel, but we only have a couple of weeks so we'll stay over here and explore.
Enjoy your day folks

Bright and breezy day here today so lots of household and gardening jobs being done. It is very satisfying.

Hope those on the roads heading off on holidays or returning home have a safe and uneventful trip.
We did some supermarket shopping locally this morning. Had a very interesting "conversation" with the man in front of me at the checkout. He stood with his back to me and moved closer. I obviously gave him a bit more room, whereby he turned around at and either accused or invited me (still not sure) of wanting to touch him. He didn't say where but Mrs WN immediately stepped between us, when he did the same to her.
I did wonder whether the MIL was going to ask if she could have a go but she thought better of it.
Obviously well passed his medication time. He then told the checkout assistant to watch us as we were a bit weird. As we're regulars she quite rightly agreed that we were and she would
and off he flounced. Tesco's hasn't been so interesting for ages.

Discovered that my terrestrial TV aerial had lost its signal so obtained access to next door's garden to check the co-ax cable connections. Upon investigation it transpired that the tenants who had recently moved out had obviously been a bit too enthusiastic with the hedge trimmer as there was a two foot length missing. I know they talk about "free to air" programmes but that was clearly a bit too much of a stretch.

More buying of bits and pieces for the caravan this morning and then some food shopping. Went to Tesco's but didn't have half as much fun as WN
Back home for lunch then a quick trip to the hairdresser for a light trim
what is it with hairdressers and scissors.
Then back to putting things in the caravan and moving other things around, lots of space and cupboards just need to get things where I want them. Not got as far as clothes yet but have allocated which top lockers we will use. Can't find one of my clothes peg hangy thing, has to be somewhere I took it out of the MH
OH been doing a few little jobs in the caravan, he's turned a couple of 240v sockets by 90 degrees to enable the chargers to fit better.
Having a problem finding somewhere to clip the 2 small fans we carry, we had over head shelves on the MH but the one we have now is much thicker and the clip doesn't fit.
Pretty chilly here today again, raining this morning for a while but the sun came out late afternoon and is still out. Think we will have clear skies tonight so it will be even chillier by bed time.
Have decided where we are going, no surprise its France
ferry booked for Sept 6th, campsite booked for the 5th. Going Dover Calais this time as we have to go to Loughbourgh on Tueday 4th to get the cycles serviced.
Stopping in at Penistone first for the weekend to see No 2 son and family, haven't seen them since February so lots to catch up on. I like a plan when it comes together, no wiggle room in it though so all had better go smooth.
Hopefully we have 5 - 6 weeks depends on weather then come back to UK and have a month or so here. Have joined NT so we will have things to do if the weather isn't great on our return. Will stop off and see No1 son and family on the return trip.
Next 5 days are going to be busy busy
All those away for the BH have a safe trip and hope the weather and roads are kind to you. All those staying at home hope you have a nice quiet time

Your trip sounds great tammy girl. Hope you get your cupboards sorted out and can then remember where you have put everything 😁. I had a good laugh at your Tesco experience WN 😂.
It's been a wet and windy afternoon here after a bright and sunny morning. I have put the fire on this evening 😲 the first time for over 3 months. My excuse is that we needed to check that it still works OK. Its hard to believe that we had the fan on Tuesday evening. We are not going anywhere this BH weekend. Our next trip is to Sandringham in 2 weeks.

Good news on the leak. Hopefully similar for Tuesday. Fingers crossed for you Husky.
Very dark here and heavy shower with a good blow. Like you milliehull we've put the fire on. Huge drop in temperature from yesterday 19 today but 27 yesterday 😲
Your trip sounds good Tammygirl, fitting in family too. Hope your tight schedule works fine, I'm sure it will 😉
I shopped in Tesco this morning, not as exciting as wherenext's experience. Gave me a chuckle.
Actually fires working too well phew!

Glad that you manage to fix the water leak HD. These sort of things are most frustrating. Hope that your prospective buyer turns up and makes an offer.
Your trip sounds interesting, TG. You soon got that sorted out, quicker than you've managed with the van
It sounds as if you've got lots of work for the future, Kjell. Will it stop you getting out in your van for a while?
I think I'll give Tesco a miss after your experience, WN, we have some very strange people here too.

Home at the end of our latest trip after a 70 min from Carnforth. Van away and emptied out and OH managed to get a few loads of washing done and dried even though we had a few short sharp showers. One more site booked for our next trip this afternoon and another enquiry sent, so progressing well up to now.

Glad you are back home safely nth. Enjoy planning your next trip.
Hope you are OK Robsail. That sounds as though it could have been dangerous.
There is 'nowt so queer as folk' and obviously they frequent Tesco😂
Good luck with your viewing on Tuesday Husky.

The lengths of insulating tape on my hedge trimmer cable is testimony to ease with which such events happen.

Had a bit off an "eventful" journey home from friends in Wellingboro yesterday at 1700 hours
event 1, hardly any traffic on A14 east bound or on A1 southbound
until
event 2 Huge cloud burst and thunder storm on A1 just north of Stevenage brought the whole 3 lanes north and south to complete standstill ,have never been in such bad rain before
,managed to get off at next junction and home via local roads

Tell me about it, I can book holidays with my eyes closed
trying to squeeze all that I want to take in the caravan's 104 kg payload is going to be a challenge. Especially as we used to have 350 kg payload with the MH. The car is going to have to take all the heavy things including 2 eBikes on the tow ball. However we used to do it before the MH so just need to get back into the way of it.
Winter trips won't be a problem as they will be UK based but the Spring and Autumn trips could be interesting.
Off to weighbridge on Tuesday then we have 1 day to re-adjust if needed.
Sun out at present but not warm as wind is chilly coming from the North. Lots of clouds but rain not forecast today however tomorrow it will be wall to wall rain.
Brue, thinking of you, I know what you are going through. Take care.

Thinking of you as well brue. Best wishes and take care.

Making some progress on rebuilding the bedroom wall, next we need to measure up for the plasterboard, which I think we will need to have delivered. Things are going quite slowly as DD can only help me when the wee lad co-operates.
Day off tomorrow as DD is having some friends over, so instead I will be helping our son install new lights in his byre.
Nellie, I doubt we will get away again this year, need to press on with the jobs, then we have my sister coming over in October, and before we know it, it will be Christmas!
