    thanks for your reply.

Well we are 'allowed' to fill up ours cars but  this appears to imply that we should not refill gas bottles, If there was an accident who would be legally responsible, if the 'enforcement' guidelines have not been followed and an 'untrained' person made the mistake?

A while ago I received the following from Safefill:

'Thank you for your enquiry and interest in Safefill cylinders.

As you are aware, via the article written by the Petrol Retailers Association and published in the Petrol Heads Up magazine, the Red Guide has been amended, by the Petroleum Enforcement Liason Group, to allow the filling of User Owned refillable cylinders, with safety features, on forecourts. This amendment was made last year but as yet, has not gone to print so we are unfortunately unable to provide a link. However, please rest assured that the Red Guide has been amended and we are suggesting to customers that they print off the PRA article.'

I have no idea why Safefill should think that I would be aware of anything published in 'Petrol Heads Up' magazine as it is a fortnightly electronic newsletter for members only

I'm surprised at the Technical Teams response as the CC is a member of UKLPG I would have thought they would have been more up to date with the latest.

They do attend the meetings & take note of what is said don't they?

Also I have no idea whether they are members of UKLPG. Also they do not retail LPG

I get my bottle filled up, so as far as I’m concerned that’s an end to it.

Indeed from the users point of view that is probably sufficient

On my Safefill cylinder (older red cylinder 15ltr/8.6kg) the test is 10years, states it on the label, next test is due 2021, not bothered as it has paid for itself, so will buy a new one.

Just had 9 nights away off grid and just topped it up at Morrisons, used over 6kg and cost £6.30 to refill, does for me and plenty of others.

6kg £6-30now that is blimming good, Ive just changed my gaslight 10 kg plastic bottle at Homebase £42 that's about £8 rise since the last one mind you that's almost two seasons, and barbying most nights its the lightness of the whole thing that is important to me, under 16 kg with bottle and gas..

You would come under my definition of Having to be nuts to buy one.   We go on a 4/5 night Rally at new year, no Ehu we will go through at least 10kg then.   Btw the Safefill bottle and the gaslight bottle look to me to be identical apart from the colour.

Hankinbush, if you feel you can help this appeal I would ask you to email the two Garage groups in the OP andd ask to fill Safefill cylinders. These  have already be passed for filling on forecourts. In anticipation, thanks for you help.

Sorry I’ve been such a long time coming back on but I’ve been so busy ringing and sending emails to all those people including Morrisons, Safefill and a host of others who have obviously got it wrong. Thank goodness DD is on the ball. Phew! , dodged a bullet there! He’s not seen it so it can’t be true!! And all he has to do is pick up the phone a press 11 keys. Has anyone got any results?

Thanks Oneputt. Good work. Many people should benefit from this if we can get these Garage groups to change their policies toward self fill cylinders now that the technology is out there.

Perhaps we can put pressure on Shell, I take my caravan to Hayle in Cornwall, their is a Shell just on the bypass who wont fill it, I contacted their head office, but they didn't even have the decency to reply, so I have to Drive 30 mins each way to get it filled up

I fill up at Shell in Oulton Broad so I guess it’s up to each filling station individually

Hi Dakota. It will get better!  Shell is a weird one. As Oneputt quite rightly says, he fills up at one and I know of others that will fill,  but my local one won’t. I took the cylinder and explained to the manager that they were made to be refilled. His reply, ‘Sorry but until Autogas give me permission, I can’t fill it’ - who owns Autogas? - Calor! Pigs might fly! So I think Shell  might be a tough nut to crack but good for you. At least you tried and the more emails and letters they get, the better case will be made for refilling. They can’t hold out for ever when faced with the facts. Emails to PP and Euro would help the cause though.

Another good bloke lost to the Forum. A good decision TF. In the end, there’ll be no one left of any decent ability to try to help their fellow vanners. Very sad indeed.

Thank you Easy- probably the most definitive answer given so far- but they still won’t believe you or me. - it doesn’t fit their narrative. This is exactly what I’ve said and in so many words been called a liar. Perhaps you should keep your head down mate? This forum is not what it was.  I am sure they were referring to the link they (and I) have supplied which is in this thread somewhere.
