Same as us David although I think we've got to the stick with the present van point, we can't find much that improves on it for our own needs. Might be fun if we could fit a tow bar to our EV but that isn't even on the drawing board yet.

Dull here today with light rain, but still warm. We were out to sort some stuff at the Guide Hall, go to the bank, and get some shopping.
After the visit to the Guide Hall we made a spur of the moment decision to stop at the local Beefeater and take advantage of their special lunch menu, have not been in there for over 20 years. We both had fish and chips, not bad for £5 each.

maybe but at the end of the day its how each person uses their vehicle.When we bought it we had every intention of being real 'motorhomers' we got half way there but just feel we are missing out on doing a lot of things when away.
We like to cycle but there is a limit as to how far you can go and in some countries its not always safe to do so. We will still cycle but for pleasure not necessity.

Moved down to Rowley Farm CL near Leominster today. Nice little site with fab views over to the distant hills. Only 2 vans here at the moment. Still no wifi so relying on 4G. Going to have a mooch round Berrington Hall tomorrow.

Have a good think before committing to an auto mover though. I know folk have had problems with them in the past. Less to go wrong with manual models maybe. But have fun whatever!0 -
Thanks Bakers, we had a few choices of tow car. Our last one prior to the MH was a Ford Smax, the Kuga I'm told has the same engine + AWD so OH is quite confidant that it will suit nicely.
The caravan in question is only 6.5m so not a big one like our last one (same size as the one before that) we still intend on touring Europe and want to keep it simple/easy to move regularly.
Exciting times for you and OH too
picking ours up on 2 August as salesman is not in on the 1st, caravan on the 21st as having mover fitted and at this time of year dealers are really busy, not in any rush as not going away until September 0 -
We did the same a few years ago, and have never regretted it. We used to share a coachbuilt motorhome with the in-laws, but it really didn’t suit our preferred way of holidaying. When father in law passed away we sold it and bought a 2 berth caravan instead. This suits us perfectly as we can go anywhere we want without the problem of parking. We’re now on our third tow car, and second caravan, a Kuga and a 2015 Challenger SE 480. The caravan was barely a year old when we bought it, and hardly used. The previous owner had, apparently, downsized and regretted it, but had added a few extras. We ended up with a virtually new caravan with several optional extras, nicer upholstery, and less than the cost of a 2016 model.

Thanks David, we've enjoyed our last 6 years but have got to the point of either changing to a newer MH, couldn't find anything up here that we liked as much and at the price difference we would be looking at not willing to do so. Had very little to shell out as we got a very good price for MH and OH has also traded his Passat in for the Kuga
It won't affect our trips abroad, if anything we think it will enhance them
like you we have caravaned for 30+ years before the MH and most of that in Europe. We looked at PVC's but neither of us is willing to give up the space. We don't have any health issues at present so intend to do what we can for as long as we can and then ........ well who knows.

Thanks for the warning M, its the Powatouch evolution we have gone with, 5 year warranty so hopefully will be ok, our last one was the same make and found them to be very good after sales service. OH feeling his age me thinks 0 -
Got the car back with a fairly hefty bill. Apart from the clutch and flywheel, had a full service, replacement fog light, flushed transfer box etc.
Whilst walking down the pedestrian street in Lowestoft a guy walked out of shop and was hit by a juvenile seagull which had fell of a roof. It was something like a sketch out Monty Python. Both chap and gull were ok.

it will be me on the naughty step next Thanks everyone for the good wishes we are both excited and looking forward to owning a caravan again. Strange but I remember feeling like this when we bought the MH
We've had 6 good years and enjoyed it, learnt a lot of how different the 2 are. Had some upset with damp issues twice and other niggles that we had never had with caravans but on the whole a good experience.
Now to the future of countries we think a caravan would be the better option and all those lovely CL's to enjoy that are so difficult to do with a MH
Apologies to all for the amount of posts I will now go and do some work. Oh we had rain overnight and this morning, the garden is busy slurrrrping it all up

Motorways were chaos but fortunately I was able to see how bad return journey would be so stuck to A roads on way back. Extra 30 minutes but not bad considering it was Friday night.
The A55 into Wales was at a standstill when we were heading other way so good luck to anyone heading our way tonight.

We arrived back at Aberbran today after a great time in New Quay, its a beautiful area and will have to return in the future.
Bodie (our dog) enjoyed the holiday, but not sure if he suits welsh dress!

Agrees TG I have found your posts very interesting. Its good to know we aren't the only ones who changed back. Like you we liked our MH but felt restricted and 80 0/0 of the time we were towing the car so why not just tow a Cvan also we wanted to upgrade and were unwilling (unable) to commit £30k to do so

No problems on the roads away from west coast of Wales today,luckily.However we did notice New Quay was much busier on Thursday with people arriving early for the hols. We've started our journey home

Same here Francis, seemed daft to fork out so much cash and still tow a car around in the UK and not be able to visit places we want to in Europe.

It is raining very half heartedly at the moment. I wish it would make more of an effort. Our garden needs it as you can see. Although I've been enjoying watching a pigeon on our neighbour's TV aerial stretching his wings and fluffing his feathers enjoying a shower.

Sounds as though you have had a lovely holiday, it's an area we're fond of but we haven't been for awhile. I will try to remember the CL you used for future ideas.
We were surprised to see some rain here about half an hour ago, it's dampened the paving and freshened up the leaves on the trees, but that's about it. Very humid again.

We have had another wonderful day here on IOW today it was very warm again so we took the opportunity to visit Osborne House. We had visited it the last time we were here but felt it was worth another visit. It is such a wonderful place and in a lovely location the house is very well preserved and the private beach is great we bought some ice cream and sat on the deck chairs over looking the Solent for a while. The site seems to have got a bit busier today it has been very quiet all week but I suspext it will stay busy now for the rest of our stay here.
