Yes milliehull it is rambling rector. It took a long time to establish but has got going well now. It certainly brightens our 'uninteresting' tree 😆.

When we planned ours some years ago my cousin warned me that they grow to a great height and she wasn't wrong! Beautiful though.

Busy morning so far.  Walked down the town, prescription put in at doctors, brothers mail posted to Germany, picked up some shopping.  Paid Mayday (green flag), then came Virgin Mediayell  Had a mail from them to say they were going to increase the charges on my mobile package to £16.50/month.  Decided to look at Uswitch sim only deals,  found one £10/month for 10 gig of data etc.  Called Virgin and after nearly half an hour going through security and various options/packages the lady I was talking to said they do a package including 12 gig of data etc., for £12/month.  When I said I hadn't seen/heard of the deal, its because its a special deal.  So after nearly three quarters of an hour I've got a package at a price I'm happy with.  laughing

Totally exhausted now so going to sit in the garden and have a breakdownwink

OP. Luckily we have a Virgin Media shop in town and I occasionally pop in there to ask if there are any better deals we could take advantage of.  It is surprising how often there are. It's very bad of them not to make them generally known.yell

We also have a Rambling Rector, it's on one side of the arch over the garden path. It's a little in the shade so all still in bud at present. First year of flowering as only put in last autumn, so now I know what it will look like when it does bloom. It's taken the rose on the other side of the arch 4 years to cover one side and its taken the RR 9 months to do the same! I think a lot of cutting back will be required.

Gosh I think you'll be continually pruning 😲. It's supposed to grow about 15 feet a year as it's a rambler rather than a climber.

Ours has been in about 10 years, but took about 3 to get going, now it covers almost the whole canopy of our 'uninteresteting' tree. We have the clematis Montana in there too, sadly the clematis flowers are hard to spot - so that will give you some idea about its vigorous nature.

All that said I think it's beautiful, has a very slight perfume and loads more buds to open.

As an aside lots of our plants are wilting in today's hot sun 😲. We've had no rain for several weeks looks like watering tonight before we have a hosepipe ban.

Yet another lovely day, this one spent looking at and listening to Turtle Doves, sadly declining in the Uk. Seeking shade this afternoon but we did manage a shaded walk to the small pretty town near the campsite for an ice cream at a smashing ice cream cafe.

Moved onto Ile de Re this morning, awful rain on the drive but just about stopped as we arrived at the campsite. Then the sun came out for a couple of hours, now back to fine drizzle frown

This year it certainly not been as good as last, not had a complete day of rain yet but have had more of the wet stuff than would like.

AD, I would take your time coming up its not looking good for at least another week.

Bakers2, the rose looks lovely, I have a climber up the front of the house that does well as its South facing, would love a rambler at the back of the house where we have more room but I don't think it would do well. The Montana I have got a severe cut back last year so interested to see how its doing when we get back.

I haven't seen a Turtle Dove in years, W. On Springwatch it said the population in the UK was down 98% over the past,  I think, 10 years. Very sad. frown

M, we moved to the current site on Sunday and been very lucky up to today in either hearing them or seeing them. Today was very memorable as you never know when you're going to see one again.

Would you believe that about 12 years ago we were woken one morning whilst staying on a CL to the sound of a Turtle Dove sitting in a tree almost next to the van. It was the CL that's attached to the AS site at Fishers End? (at March). No campsite then just the CL. We stayed there about 3 years ago and asked them about the Doves. Sadly gone.frown

Edit - Haven't got CMC book with us so may have got name wrong.

Yet another hot and dry day here, I hope this is not our summer!

Plenty to do around he house, so no going out in the sun.  OH was trying to complete the accounts for the Guide  Hall, just a few receipts to chase up and she is nearly there.

Tomorrow is DD's birthday, so we are taking her out for lunch, the wee lad will be there too, hope he is in a good mood!  He gets very upset when he is hungry if food is not immediately provided, and has yet to realise that when he is tired, the best idea is to go to sleep.

OH decided to go to the audiology dept. of the hospital today to get some spare batteries for his hearing aids as he has done for many years.  When he got there he was asked by the guy on the desk if he had an appointment. This is how the conversation went ....No he didn't. You need an appointment. Well I have never needed one before. Well you do now but I can make you an appt. When for? Now. You will receive a letter in the post but ignore it. You couldn't make it up yell

Have had a busy couple of days and still plenty to do, as after a over a month away during the "growing season" the lawns had turned into 18inch high meadows and the hedges are more like a really bad hair day surprised so the brown bin is full and there are two black bags of grass cuttings in the bottom of the refuse binembarassed

    Millie

Margaret gets hers from our local surgery, she just takes her book in. When I wore hearing aids I used to get fed up with the small amount they allowed on any one visit so I ended up buying them in bulk online.

OH has never had the problem before. For many years he has just turned up and he has been given the batteries. It has now been contracted out to a private company undecided

Sounds a doddle. When we had been away on a trip it was two brown bins and up to 20 well packed black bags. The neighbour had a two man outfit cutting and edging his lawn and so at first I started having them cut the grass whilst I was away as they were working next door, Neighbour unlocks the gate and pays them and I square up when back. As my arthritic spine got worse and my hip as well a few years back I decided to have them come once a fortnight in the growing season.

It was another very warm and sunny day yesterday, 5th day in a row, catching up on here this morning didnt get chance yesterday. I've been sitting watch the Blue and Great Tits empty our feeder this morning, while enjoying a cup to tea.

Enjoyed a nice meal in the village pub last night, a treat, even better we washed it down with a couple of pints of Timothy Taylor's Landlord, just for Wherenext. winklaughing

Mrs WN has even suggested that as we dock in Hull we could make a diversion, say via Skipton and call in at the Woolly Sheep. Thinking about it.

Nice bike ride this morning to a Benedict Abbey about 10 miles away. The air was heavy and we hadn't long got back to the van when we had our first rain for quite a while. A few rumbles of thunder but this is rain. Spending the afternoon checking out where to move on to on Sunday, sort of towards the Netherlands.

Glad you are enjoying Devon H & T.smile

Arrived for 7 nights at Noyadd Farm CL just outside Builth Wells. Just us, one MH and, by the sound of it, several hundred hungry sheep! Nice site with fabulous views across to the Epynt Hill range. Seem to only have intermittent 4G and no WiFi so it's over and out for a little while. smile
