Today started dull, but still warm, by 2pm the sun was out and it was then hot!

Down at DD' s today to help her with some cleaning and tidying.  Still no further house viewings, so she is starting to worry.

We have their (very messy) budgies here till the house sells, which was only supposed to take 2-3 weeks, but we are now 2 weeks in and only one viewer.

We are due to go away in 14 days time, I doubt they will have a sale by then, the budgies cannot go home, they cannot stay here alone, all the in laws have dogs, plus are also going on holiday......what is to happen??

It sounds like the only option is for us to cancel our already shortened holiday and lose our CCC deposit.

Someone will be pleased CJ, probably a waiting list at this time of the year.

Kj, hope you find someone for the birds, a pity to lose your break.

Millie, what a contrast in the weather, it's warm and humid here, have been outside most of the day. Grandson has kept us busy after school too, in fact you could say, shattered! wink

Similar situation with us KjellNN.  We are supposed to be in Cornwall and Devon now for 5 weeks.  Cancelled, due to a surprise visit in a few days from our 16 year old granddaughter from Hong Kong, doing the trip alone for the first time.  Our son informed us she was coming only about a month ago. Oh well, it will be really lovely to see her but a 'fait accompli'  was a surprise!!  Hopfully we can get a couple of weeks away at the end of June.

Its been another really hot and sunny day, we spent most of it at Arlington Court, which I can thoroughly recommend if staying near Barnstaple, lovely walks which were mostly in woods so a bit cooler. Enjoyed tea and, Courgette, lemon and thyme cake before visiting the carriage museum in the old stables, really interesting. The journey home was interesting as the road we needed had been closed,so the detour took us along some very typical Devon lanes.surprised

Weather sounds very different in the east.

Sorry to hear about the cancelled breaks. Hope you find a temporary home for the Budgies KjellNN.

Can now hear the Tawny Owls, so will be lulled to sleep again tonight.smile

Hmmm,  6 budgies in 2 huge cages?!  The biggest cage cannot even stand vertical in the car!

Plus, OH is allergic to the dust they create, which is why they have to be in a room on their own here, with an air filter and all the furniture covered over.

DD used to use a pet  sitter occasionally a long time back, not sure if he is still doing it, but he used to charge ยฃ1 per budgie per day about 10 years ago.

We have been juggling dates, her husband's last day at work is 27/06, so after that he/they can visit daily to look after them up here (15 minute drive) or they can come and stay here till we return.

OH has cancelled our first site, Garlieston, and we can go directly to Keswick on 24/06 , then North Wales, Peak District and Whitby.  We were going to Haltwhistle CCC but got a refund on that as we thought we had to be home the week before the moving date of the 18th, but it is clear now that they will not be moving anywhere on 18/07.

So we could rebook that, or go elsewhere instead and maybe be home on say 16/07, as we have to organise some funds for the additional stamp duty they will have to pay temporarily.

If they cannot organise budgie care for 3 days then we will have to re-think the plan.

5 am, and allโ€™s well, just arrived in Harwich and it looks cold outside, perhaps shorts werenโ€™t the right option.  Looks as though a few vans, MH spent the night in the car park.  Just off for my complimentary breakfast.

Sorry I got you all up so early๐ŸŒž

No holidays planned - too busy - but no complaints.

The weather is still glorious. Perfect for photos of blue skies, green grass and red and white cows. Out to grass at 6:30 after morning milking.

So you brought the weather over with you ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Was like it yesterday too, must have had a small amount of drizzle overnight. Went out with bare feet to feed the birds  - got cold damp feet ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. Only 13c. Forecast didn't look great for the ara for the week on tv last night - what do they know???

Hope you enjoyed breakfast, safe nward journey.

Just been for a cycle ride to Mont St Michel today. Boy, what a lot of steps up to the abbey! Very muggy and just got back and started folding up the bikes to pack away when the skies opened. It might have waited a few more minutes until I'd finished. Onwards to St Malo tomorrow.

Spent a pleasant few hours catching up with old colleagues and their partners today. We met at Lacock for a stroll round the village and then had lunch at the new refectory in the abbey grounds. It'll be 8 years in July since I retired and only one member remaining in the maths faculty from those days. She's retiring in July so that'll be one more link broken. Very few remain at the school now - I see quite a lot of former students and one proudly announced last week that her eldest son will be going up in September. Another reason to be feeling my age! smile

Van is on the drive ready for getaway on Thursday, a week on what looks like a scenic CL up in mid Wales - just waiting for Mrs M to decide what clothes I should take! wink

Your holiday sounds wonderful Helen.  I hope the weather is still good for you.  It is not good in the east. Cloudy and chilly.  Although the sun came out this afternoon it is still chilly.  We holidayed in Devon for many years when our children were young and love Arlington Court.  Wonderful walks and the Carriage Museum is really interesting. We went many times. It is a lovely part of the country.

Bakers2 what is a custom driver?

Moulesy, I have just reorganised OH's packing for when we go away later in the week.  He is going to have a nice surprise when we get there.laughing

Today was a bit cooler so after a late start we decided to cycle some of the Tarka  Trail, gentle cycle along traffic free route. Best bit it was slightly downhill on the way back wink

Arrived back on site and the sun came out for a perfect evening, watched the cow's ambling back to their field after milking.

Then peace was shattered as Tuesday is bell ringing practice !!! And the  church is next door, laughing Our neighbours who arrived this afternoon on a visit from Holland were a bit surprised! surprised

Safe journey Moulesy , have a great time in  Wales, hope your CL is as lovely as the one we are staying on here in Devon.

Milliehull a custom driver, should read custom made - this site often takes away parts of what I type ๐Ÿ˜ค, Driver it'  just put that capital in and droppd the s from it's ๐Ÿ˜ค. It's a made to measure golf club apparently several hundred pounds ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. He was a good footballer and took up golf and does it very well, I hear he plays off 9 whatever that means ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. He'll be 30 so thinks it should be special ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰ I think he still thinks his wish is our command ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Seriously he'd be grateful for a contribution towards but if you don't ask .......

It has been jolly chilly in the east again. We have the fire on again this evening. The sun made a very brief appearance earlier, my towels haven't completely dried outside. Did a big restock of store cupboards and then after lunch visited elderly aunt OH cut her grass and I tried to lighten her day don't think I succeeded ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Oh  Dear,  B2  that  last  line surprised  !!

Went  to  Aged  Sisters  this  morning  &  described  a  load  I  took  to  the  tip for  a  friend :-

It  was  quite  bulky  so  I  put  in  in  the  van  thro'  the  sliding  door..........

            What  sliding  door  ??

The  big  one  on  the  passenger  side.

            The  what  ??

    { Brian  mimes  banging  head  against  the  wall --  it's lovely  when  I  stop }

Don't  start  doing  that  or  I'll  throw  this  cup  at  you,  we  all  get  old  you  know..........

Well  you  know  the  door  I  mean.

             No  I  don't

Of  course  you  do,  It's  the  one  you  get  in  thro'  when  we've  been  shopping  so  you  can  sort  your  shopping  bags  out  and  put  them  separate  from  mine.

Oh,  THAT  one,  why  didn't  you  say  so.

cry,  Truly  there  are  times  ,,,,,,,,,, !!

Enjoying reading about your holiday HandT. We live in a village 4 miles from Barnstaple and the places you have been to are on our doorstep. We also enjoy Arlington and regularly visit with our grandchildren, who love the woodland wild playgrounds. We wrap up in winter and walk the tarka trail. I've spoken before about our small Devon roads and their hedge banks! If you are in Bideford you might consider a trip to Bucks Mills, park in the woods and a short walk down to the small beach. Or a longer trip to Lynmouth, which we love. Or a drive out to Heddons Mouth, park in the National Trust car park and then a good walk through woodland paths to the beach and a circular route back to the car, with a stop for coffee or a pint at Hunters Inn. I will look forward to reading about your other outings. Where do we go for holidays?Your area, staying at Stratford upon Avon!

Bell ringing practise, what a great sound, better than some 'noise' and it gives one a rural feel.surprised

Lovely weather here in East Norfolk, not quite as hot as the previous 2 weeks but it allowed us to tackle the jungle that is our garden.  Three loads of washing done and dried etc.. Looking forward to my full English this morning, have missed proper bacon & sausages.  laughing

Not easy is it? That's frustrating but sometimes I know where she's coming from ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚!

My 'elderly' aunt, only 78, but hasn't wanted to be here for years - very sad. ๐Ÿ˜” over the years all sorts of help and assistance have been offered to no avail.

We always did the walk to Heddons Mouth from Hunters Inn and back on the first morning of our holidays in Devon DEBSC.  It was a family ritual. Wonderful place. I still have a few of the wonderful stones from the beach at Heddons Mouth on our bathroom window sill as a lovely reminder.

Much brighter start to the day, although chillier than of late for sunny starts. A day to choose how we spend it. Washing on but otherwise no routine tasks required ๐Ÿ˜†. Snapped this whilst feeding the birds. Enough to make your heart sing and put a smile on your face. Sadly no calling cards from Arbuthnott or other hedgehogs for several days ๐Ÿ˜”.
