DD,
Please enlighten me and any others who don't quite understand your sentiments.
How will the CAMC "Trash", (my interpretation of your views) this newly acquired site?.....

Always good to see a new site in the network, just as well the Club have healthy reserves in order to allow them to make such a purchase. From my point of view it does seem a bit remote, does anyone know if its on a bus route?

the site has a herringbone road layout (with some dead ends), this will not compute with the traditional round and around circuits (á la Lewis) to seek out the best pitch....
many sites we have used with a road system like this have encouraged walking to select your pitch and then making one direct trip there...
keeps traffic down..but this isn't the CC way...
so, i assume the JCBs will be in shortly, could probably dig up the grass pitches (and those blasted hedges) while they're at it.
BG is currently a nice (AO) place to stay, we like the area, the site always gets good reviews, it will be interesting to see how much the club can leave alone...

A tad disparaging of other members BB. Not to worry. Probably unintentional.

BB not being a frequent flyer on club sites won't that there are a few sites with dead ends, one example is Moreton in the Marsh, oh hang didn't BB just go there?

It's not remote at all David, just a short drive from Bridport. In the other direction is Beaminster, there is a bus service between the two. I think it's hourly, coming through from Yeovil. The Jurassic Coast bus goes via Bridport. To be honest, it is a better site for anyone with a car or who likes walking (from the rear of the site.)
There is a Lidl and Co-op a short drive away on the same road into Bridport, Morrisons has a big car park a little further on. Bridport is a market town, plenty of shops and places to eat. West Bay and harbour is the nearest coastal point just a few minutes from Bridport.

Thanks for all the helpful information from our local CT members.
Sorry to hear that people are having issues booking the site and that it's taking you to Abbey Wood. I've reported this and will let you know once it has been fixed.

I am disappointed you have used part of my quote Nellie and taken it out of context. My comments were regarding where the site is and the lovely countryside around it. In no way am I forcing anyone to do anything. I did also mention in another post that there are CLs etc in the area.

Individual maybe, but in what way unique, DD? We stayed there, albeit many years ago now (I think it was still called Bingham Farm then?). A very nice site in a lovely area and good walking direct from the site, if my memory serves me correctly, but not one we've thought "must go back there again".

Hi everyone,
Bookings for this site seem to be working now. Thank you for your patience and please let me know if you have further issues.

Thanks for your time and explanation DD.Not having been there myself, I can't comment, but accept your views...

...Alan, tis the way of things, though....the CC blueprint invariably has a circular main thoroughfare (though as mentioned, there are some exceptions) but for folk who are unfamiliar with the herringbone sites, it can be a bit of an issue once having driven a car/caravan to the end of one of the roads only to find no suitable pitches.
im sure the members will manage, but, as I said, sometimes other processes work better with other designs....
so, perhaps the club will change the design to fit their process, rather than the other way round

"im sure the members will manage...."
Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence, BB.

Brue, I sorry that you are disappointed with my post, but it wasn't taken out of context in my opinion, it was your opening statement. It just so happens that comments such as that, and commentator/presenters saying things like "everyone will love/ be watching etc this programme or whatever" gets my hackles up.
Anyway it's nothing to get worked up about. I would of course look to use a CL in the area should I choose to go around there.

TW, remember members ('officially') get confused when booking a pitch type
perhaps BG currently allocates pitches, so that visitors know exactly where to go....? I can't remember from my single visit there..
however, sites with multiple 'dead ends' might prove fun if folk browse pitches by car.....
in which case, I'm (still) sure the members will manage
