Good idea or not ?

If a bridge was built, would you use it to tow to France, and how much would you pay to use it ?

Ferry, Chunnel or Bridge ?

30 miles towing across The Channel? I think not. Probably a tad drafty

At the height it would have to be to let ulcc and container ships pass under I reckon cross wind could be an issue🛳🚢⛴

To make it usable a sufficient number of days, it would probably have to be a covered tubular affair, so might as well stick with a tunnel. I suppose as more and more vehicles become EV's it could be a road tunnel. Not sure how practical it would be to ventilate 25 miles underwater for current engine types.

I recall that it was seriously considered but with the idea of having an island part way through so it could be bridge plus tunnel. Anyway, there are much longer road bridges around the world so it isn’t so daft.

yes, I was just looking at the 100 mile plus Florida keys highway....

very nice but different weather (we don't get hurricaneswink) but far too low with the current channel shipping traffic...

perhaps if we could then do away with the ferries.....?undecided

    nice idea though...

If there was a Bridge or Bridge/Tunnel in addition to what we have already it would be interesting to know if that would be more popular than current crossings. We could do with some proper competition!!!
