I'm glad they still have access here. It's only just left, heading for Exeter by the look of the flight direction, it's been in the field an hour.

Yes it does Millie, unfortunately. I can't ask my immediate neighbours till tomorrow, but we have one or local two people who might be in need. On previous "visits" ambulances have appeared as back up but an air lift south is probably quite serious.

We have had the most wonderful day on The Great Central Railway (it's a heritage steam railway).  The lunch surpassed all expectations. The attention to detail was marvellous from the beautiful carriage, the table setting, the service and the food.  They really did make us feel very special.  The young men who served the meal and the drinks were excellent.  I asked one of them if they were on a catering course but no, it is a part time job for them all (which they obviously love) with some occasional specialist training.  Our waiter is actually training to be a fire fighter.  Along with our lunch we were given day rover tickets for the railway so when we arrived back at Loughborough station having finished our lunch we got off, had a wander round the lovely old station and then got on another train and did the round trip again.  It was a cloudy day but luckily no rain.  It was lovely to see all the spring flowers on the embankments, especially lots of primroses. It was my birthday present for OH's 80th birthday which was actually last summer (we don't like to rush things laughing). I did actually give him the voucher on the day of his birthday

Glad you have got your car back Bakers2 and that you are having a good weekend with your son.

Good news that you got a bit more sleep last night Tammygirl.  Hope you get a good night tonight as well.

Your day sounds good Helen. Isn't it nice to get out and about after last weekend's dreadful weather.

Yes Helen they do.  They saved the life of the husband of my best friend 20 years ago after he had been involved in an accident when out on his racing bike. A wonderful service which relies on funding from the public.

Glad you and OH had a fabulous day Millie.  I mooch around the farm and visited the llama and the pigs.  Checked out the barn owl 🦉 nest box.  Drove over to Heybridge Basin and wander along the river, I’ll include that visit in a story I write, but a really nice place to visit.  Spent the afternoon with Mrs Ones cousins before getting back to the van.

Your day sounds fantastic Millie, pleased you both enjoyed it.

It's a railway I keep meaning to visit, but even though we visited Loughborough lots of times as Jamie was at uni there, we never got to the railway .it's still on the list though.wink

We see one on a regular basis as it's about 3/4ml to it's landing area adjacent to our local hospital.

Sounds like a wonderful day millie, glad that you enjoyed it.

Good to hear that you had a better night TG. Hope that you get a full night's sleep tonight.

Pleased to hear that you've got your car back and that the repair wasn't too expensive, B2.

I finished work on time last night and so was back at the caravan by 9.30 p.m.

It's going to be a busy day today.

First of all, we need to swap over the Smart car for the Shogun which will mean a trip to the Northbrook Farm site. Then return with the Shogun to hitch up the caravan ready for the tow back to Northbrook Farm again.

We'll have to hope that our pitch there is ok. We had rain last night and rain again now. So we might postpone erecting the awning until the weather is better.

It's well worth a visit Helen.  We have been meeting up with some motorhome friends there for a few years now as it is halfway between us all.  We usually just buy a day rover ticket and tootle up and down the line eating our packed lunch on the train and getting off at the various stations to have a cup of tea and a wander round.  The stations are lovely preserved old stations. It's like stepping back in time. Rather like 'Brief Encounter' (but without the hats laughing)

We've just got back from swapping over the cars. Now to complete the packing ready for travel and hitch up for the tow back to our seasonal pitch. Miserable weather though!

The difficulty with moving between the Littlehampton and Worthing sites is getting the timing right. We need to be off this site before 12 noon especially as it's Sunday, so a Sunday departure! However, we need to arrive at the Worthing club site after 12 noon because of the Sunday departures there.

The two sites are so close to each other that the journey between them only takes about 15 minutes maybe even less if there's no traffic. Today being Sunday will most probably mean very little traffic.

I just checked on the google map and it's showing a journey time of 10 minutes. So we would have to leave here at 11:50 at the earliest in order to arrive there after 12 noon. Not easy to get the timing that accurate as time has to be allowed for hitching up etc.

Reading the latest review from Northbrook I am surprised you were allowed to use a grass pitch let alone put an awning up with a ground sheet.

I wonder how long it will take for these early grass pitches to recover.

Our garden is very wet and is now a bit of a mess, even just walking down to the feeders and pegging washing out. The grass  pitches after having constant use for 21 days and an awning ground sheet must be in a terrible state. undecided

I've just read it, brue and what is said there seems very true. It seems he got told off for arriving early so if we want to avoid encountering that ourselves, we need to arrive after 12 noon today. So we've got a bit of waiting to do before we hitch up.

I remember when we first arrived we were repeatedly told off for not phoning two days beforehand and also taken to task about parking two cars.

It was suggested to us to park one car in the car park otherwise we would have to pay an extra £2 per night. So we did that. However, that seems to have caused a problem because of our two days away. The warden insists that when we are away for two days we must take both cars with us, which is impossible because how can one driver drive two cars?

Last years warden said she had checked with head office and was told it was ok for us to leave one of our cars in the car park for the two days we are away to comly with the 21 night rule.

We saw the warden this morning when we visited the site to swap over cars. That was when I was told off for leaving one car in the car park for the two days we were away. The warden said that over the weekend, all the car parking spaces were gone and visitors had to park on the road outside because we had taken up one of the spaces in the car park over the weekend.

So I explained that last year, when we had a seasonal pitch, the warden had checked with head office and they agreed we could leave one car, in the car park, for the two days we were away. She didn't know this because there were different wardens last year and they don't seem to have talked to each other, when handing over.

This means that visitors, who are not paying any money, but just visiting other caravanners on site, are given priority in using the car park, over caravanners who are paying full fees! Is that fair?

I was talking about the review mentioning the mud and damage on the grass Malcolm, not the other parts of the review.

Well, we've just heard the news that the Air ambulance mission had a sad outcome and a neighbour has died.

The warden is very particular about driving on the grass but it can't be avoided bacause seasonal pitches are grass pitches, brue. Also, we were refused our seasonal grass pitch when we first arrived and had to pay extra to use hardstanding. So the grass pitches were closed for about a week. That's long enough, surely?

Visitors often have to pay £2 to park their cars, how do you know they hadn't paid? Are you paying to park your second car?
