I wonder whether it is still necessary to use chemical toilet disposal points if using bio pods? Perhaps the contents can be poured down a normal toilet? Sometimes on the continent it can be difficult to find the correct disposal point.

I sometimes empty it at home that way if I am feeling too tired to lift the manhole cover - so far no problems at all - but I wouldn't do it with a very full one.

Just as a matter of interest, can you use bio pods on sites that require you to use "green" toilet fluid? Can they harm the cesspit etc?

Stayed at a few CLs that ask you to do this and a few commercial sites in Netherlands and Germany.

I would guess you need to ask each one if they are happy with laundry liquid.  Or if they don't insist on "green"  being used in the laundry - which I have never seen - then .....?  I know I should use "green" stuff at home but I don't - I have changed to bio pods in the washing machine too :).  Touch wood my tank has only had two emptyings in 22 years!

cool I have asked this question from the suppliers ,,they say that the 'bio pods' are just as safe into sceptic tanks as household drains/sewerage systems.wink.

Quite  agree  there,  Pippah,  But  I  have  taken  to carrying  a  pot  of  Dometic's  Green  pods  as well  so  that  should  anybody { e.g.  CL  or  A.S.  owner }  insist  then  I  can  comply  without  anybody  being  upset  innocent.

Just spent 3 weeks in Dorset near the Chesil. Lidl bio pods went with me and with 4 adults and a child using the loo it was emptied every day just about. We had no incident of pong! Had there been an unacceptable one comments would have been made but the pods performed perfectly. I used highly scented fabric conditioner (from Lidl) in the flush water = sweet smelling loo. Zoflora for cleaning if required. Goodness knows how much it would have cost me buying blue for all those empties!!!

We used the ASDA ones last few weeks in France in high temperatures and no issues.  We have had smell issues with ALDI ones in the past if it was not emptied each day.  Even did some washing with them with equally good results...

Same here thought I would try the lidl bio ones, useless. Emptied the loo out came the full pod the lumps still in the loo nothing dissolved. Back to the blue for me.

Dave, you're not supposed to take the cassette to the CCEP immediatelywink

im guessing most empty the loo every two to three days....

if you're emptying daily, perhaps they haven't had time to work as they do.....smile

A rather old post ............ but I agree David. I use Lidl pods and I am sure they would dissolve in a wet had and do the job well

If you accidentally get a Lidl's bio wet even after seconds the clean up is horrendous, I've had it happen a couple of times and the bio covering melts/dissolves very quickly.

I have heard this from other caravanners on this forum - Waitrose pods are rubbish for loos. I only use Aldi pods and they have always done the job. Lidl may be OK too but I couldn’t swear it. Using Aldi or Lidl’s highly scented fabric conditioner in the flush tank certainly keeps everything smelling sweet. And no black bits!! I will bear Asda in mind.

Addendum- On site in Norfolk - just emptied the loo with Lidl biopod in it and not even a whiff- emptied all the contents first time as it was liquid- always had a ‘clingon’ with blue!! The Lidl pod breaks it down much more effectively- does Lidl know what they have here?? 🤣🤣🤣

We use Lidl bio ones as we have found them to be far more effective than any other make!

The cassette has to go before it overflows. I have tried 4 of these pods now and find them useless. The wife can have them for her washing and I will go back to blue

Most things start to dissolve to a sludge if left for a few days, bio pods or not.

we definitely don't traipse to the loo block when we have a toilet in board, so it gets regular use.

i reckon every 2 to 3 days, sees the cassette about 70% full.

even if the red light comes on, there's a 'safety margin' of around 15%.

if the cassette is being emptied daily, I wouldn't expect anything to work that quickly.

one thing I can say, with the pods, the cassette is sparklingly clean, including the ridding of limescale, which is miles better than the state of the cassette with Blue.

yes, Blue has a strong colour and a strong smell, but it could be that these two things are there to mask things and it doesn't actually 'work' any better than anything else...

for a clean cassette alone, bio pods are far better than blue...IMHO.

With other propriety liquids I used to have to use white vinegar to remove limescale once or twice a year. With the pods no limescale in the cassette
