Easter rip off

Just going back to the OP, I happened to check Haven Perran Sands for Easter weekend 3 nights on grass (2 adults & 2 children) £155.75 or HS £213.60! (Apparently that's a good deal as it includes 25% off!)
Still think Godrevy is a rip off?

Personally, I tend to think club serviced pitches are a bit of a rip off anyway, though I know some like them which is fair enough if they're happy to pay the extra.
A standard pitch at Chatsworth over Easter is £34.60 - just down the road in Bakewell at an inferior (IMHO) commercial site, it's £31, and I know which of the two I'd choose having stayed at both in the past!

Don't have a problem with Easter week end high prices as I would not use them. What I cant understand is the length of Easter Peak Period, when this W/E and the W/E after Easter has huge amounts of vacancies. Would they be full if the prices were reasonable? Could the club not try say " last minute discounts" on these vacant pitches even if only on a trial basis. I know I would be interested.

Not the sites we looked out, e.g. Hendra had only 5 grass non electric left for the Easter weekend, and others were full. Even the rallies in Cornwall (C&CC) over the Easter weekend are expensive compared to other regions. We have to be in Cornwall for a family event on 9th April and thought we would take the van down and have an extended break. We are now having a week at Porth Beach starting 3rd April, at a rally for £14 per night. Prices dropped as soon as Easter itself ended.

School holidays and the Easter holiday period is generally a time when Leisure companies can maximise their income. Having this period when demand is high everybody pays a proper price for pitches. This helps subsidise sites during times of low occupation. Otherwise sites would close.
It's market forces I'm afraid. It's up to everybody to shop around and find the best value for money. There are always bargains to be had.

Hi guys well at the risk of being heckled off the forum,my opinion is that the club sites are still good value for what you get.I have long ago accepted the fact that our hobby is not a cheap one .Last year we used about 6 CL,s all of which were great .But we will always use club sites when we can ,as long as we are members.Because in my opinion if we are not supporting the Club then what’s the point in being a member.
Just my views of course 😉😊

No heckling BJ but CLs are my main reason for joining.
It's interesting that Club sites are expanding in size and CLs are on the decline, despite many thinking Club sites are overpriced.

Good point, Nevers. I think the difficulties some people report in trying to book pitches speaks volumes as well.

Yep you have a point there.Last year we visited 7 Club sites and each one ,for the period that we stayed, was full.So In my eyes that speaks volumes.

Well that’s as maybe kjellNN,but I was just stating what we saw.but it does go to prove that the Club sites are still very popular.👍

If you think about it, all it proves is that the 7 sites you stayed on were popular at the time you were there, as were 5 of the sites we stayed on, at the time we were there.
Our other 7 sites were far from full, when we were there. But I would not claim that these 7 sites are therefor unpopular!
So much depends on the time of year and where the site is.
One of our fullish sites is one we have visited many times, it is very popular at weekends, but midweek is a different story, especially in winter.

Well im not going to split hairs or get into an argument over something so trivial .all i was trying to say was that the club sites are still very popular and hopefully are here to stay.

Not the two week Easter holiday in Cornwall though, I see Godrevy has 100 pitches available out of 120, think that proves my original point.
Gwithian farm is very nice and popular btw very good value, tidy site with lots of hedges dividing areas, free WiFi, hard standing £21.00 per night.
