No problem, its in Anger, Lac du Maine. Doesn't have a steam train but there is a wonderful Chateau, miles of cycling straight from site, lovely parkland to walk and ride in, not forgetting the lovely swimming pool on site. Free wifi, great pitches (no pegs) wonderful town of Angers to explore, cycle friendly, lovely park to walk in with fountains and floral displays.
Just one of many sites that can be found in France, no need to book, stay as long as you want, pay when you leave.

well, David, I certainly understood your point.....if it were a choice of busy motorways or quiet ones, or just busy roads or quiet ones I'd take the quiet ones every time...it's nice to travel them in sunshine too, and have some nice places to leave them for lunch or a break or to pop into the next town...again, such an easy thing to do without all those draconian parking issues...
however, we all realise it's not the defining moment of a trip, nor the main reason for being 'over there' but just another thing that's a bit less hassle....
i remember when we last came back into Portsmouth and the M275/M27 was the most manic traffic we encountered the whole 3 month trip.
it really was a stark reminder of how busy our roads are and how un-accommodating most of our drivers are...
needless to say, we use a Poole crossing these days, far quieter...

Wide open spaces, try the UK.

Perhaps it's this constant barrage implying that those touring "over there" are somehow superior/braver/cleverer than those who choose to tour "over here" that grates on some David.
Isn't it about time that you accepted that many of us actually choose to do our van touring "over here" and just stopped trying to "convert" us to a way of life which obviously suits you and you enjoy, but some of us have no desire to replicate.
You'd be better plugging overseas sites in the overseas section of the forum really.

Here is another reason to go abroad but only if you like wide open spaces
and then elsewhere ..........
My experience in recent years on German motorways has been that we have been very lucky if we could achieve 80kph with the current state of roadworks .
... and here's me thinking Germany was abroad also, oh well back to school, geography was never my strong point

I wonder if there is an official name for a collector of motorway pictures?🤔
