I admit to a little sadness that when I was younger I never tried skiing, unfortunately the supple joints needed for proper skiing are a thing of the past but perhaps could manage a nursery slope, it would be the constant falling/bruising that would get me now as a complete beginner.

Reason I never tried it is I don't like the Winter coldness when somewhere warmer is an alternative, and I believe chains have to be used in those areas. I would have been happy to drive but not to tow, a warm cabin would have been my choice at the time.

Make the most of it while it's still open! Actually, it prompted me to take a look on google earth at some of the places I have been abroad. Very interesting.

OH has been to one of places I want to go, with his chums at beginning of a mountaineering holiday. The Alhambra, in Spain. They stayed in a monastery somewhere that time. It was June, the weather in Spain was worst in decades, so bad they woke up buried in snow, had to dig their tents out! Safety kicked in, and they had to come back down. They were like some kind of travelling hoodoo that mountaineering group, when they went to Ireland it never stopped raining again!
