I avoid any site that cranks up prices just because it's a bank holiday.

In Germany the site fees don't go up at Easter as a lot of vanners don't start until after then.  However at Himmelfahrt the prices tend to rocketsurprised

This weekend we are paying £23.10 per night on a Honey Pot site. Booked last Saturday online as it's nigh on impossible to get in there of a weekend if you miss out on Frenzy Day, apparently, must be all those block bookers cool

We are at the same site over the Easter weekend, booked on Frenzy Day whilst in the middle of the Bay of Biscay on board a cruise ship. Fee is £38.40 per night for the same unit and number of people. A premium of £15.30 per night for the Bank Holiday in school holidays.

Both visits are non awning pitches.

As we are visiting late father in law grave on his anniversary we are happy to make a weekend of it to see family over Easter. Not paid that high a fee at Easter before, even on beach side full facility sites.

Going forward the BH premiums mean we will do less nights and at other sites where fees are less. Thats how family adventurers new to caravanning look at things, moreso as secondary school pupils have other demands on the family budget. It's different to when we were the children in the family cool

Along with others who post on this forum ---  Do you have a problem with X- CMC customers posting on the forum? . If so, you are free to raise the matter at the next AGM to have us all expelled. laughing

Not a problem as long as they are not of a provocative nature, just to try to skew the threads undecided

Well yes but firstly how many members actually think that? So far 1 or 2 on here on this thread? Looking at July and August it appears quite popular enough with quite a lot of the dates fully booked and many others showing less than 5 pitches.

Secondly what will this 'view' expressed on here actually achieve? What proportion of club sites users (and payers) use CT?

What will the club take more notice of? One or two 'grumbles' on here or people not booking? The only way to achieve any reduction is not to go?

Threads on this subject come up every year, often more than once! The point is, that in any particular part of the country where there is a club site there will be many alternatives, some more expensive, some less. It's simply a matter of doing ones research and shopping around for the best deal at the best price. As far as I can see, club sites come out pretty much on the median as far as prices are concerned. So sometimes we use them and sometimes we use alternatives. Location is the main priority every time. smile

I do draw the line at paying approaching £30 for a CAMC site with only the minimum of facilities.

For me minimum facilities mean no toilet block. For you David it means something more I think

I can't see that as I was asking a different (unanswered by you) question:

What will the club take more notice of? One or two 'grumbles' on here or people not booking? The only way to achieve any reduction is not to go?

but feel free to re-post your comments again as you are certainly entitled to dosmile

Sorry, M, but being sensible about these things just doesn't sit well with everyone else wanting to win the argument. It just won't do. Try to be more provocative in future.smile

£112 when i was at school

Sorry, JVB, but Cody has stated that the CMC would lose a couple of hundred pounds and he is more or less correct. Assuming he would be staying for at least 10 nights then the club is losing the total revenue not just the difference between the 2 sites quoted, which I assume is how you are arriving at £112 (14x£8).

It would be interesting if anyone could get their hands on the occupancy rate for those sites where there is good competition for places. If occupancy rates were to be less than 60% full then maybe the club do need to look at their rates as presumably for Easter they would have no problem filling the site if they were competitive. Don't know how you would get your hands on such facts though.

You would also need to consider occupancy rates on other sites as well.

The OP mentioned a full two weeks which is 14 x 29 = £406, a very substantial loss in anyone's vocabulary   surprised

Even 10 nights would be £290.

Of course you have the right to post on the club pricing structure, did I say otherwise?  But equally you should respect other posts that perhaps don't share your views rather than try and insult them?

Anyway, thank you for making it simple, as I did have difficulty understanding your post and it's pointsmile

In fact I still don't, what do you expect from posting on here? That the club will answer - ok yes maybe,

Are you asking for discussion on your post? You know alternate views?

Was the point of your post to answer :

why are the club charging top whack when a lot of similar commercial sites are charging low season

(which btw wasn't in your OP)

If that was the point, it is no use asking us on here why the club are charging such prices, I, and I would think most on here, do not know the answer. I suggest you write to the club?

OH and I have no beef with what they want to charge where demand is high (market forces)  just where the sites will be over half empty for the two weeks in the Easter holidays.

Unscientific I know and out of date but: looking at Google Maps the CC site seems twice as popular s Gwithian farm when the Google mapping was updated. The CC site is not competing for quite the same customer base as the CC site is members only

I've never seen club sites in Cornwall full at Easter, they get busy over the holiday weekend and that's it. Most won't travel the distance at this time of the year. If Easter's late there's a chance of better weather and a few last minute bookings.

I would not have thought that area to be very busy at start of April. I suspect those with school age families will settle for a 5 day break at that time and that area is very much 'out on a limb'

Cody - you could go to Ayr Holiday park, St Ives @ £32.50 a night over the Easter period I believe-  van, 2 adults and EHU! surprised (I wouldn't. wink)

As I said earlier, you can find sites near club sites both more expensive and less.

(Haven't bothered to check any other sites in the area! wink

Just checked Ayr again - extra £6 on top for an awning and those rates start from 25 March! surprised
