Deliveries to site from supermarkets

As you have already posted , problems on your site with non compliance delivery drivers, that is no difference with what happens where we live with up to seven company vans doing grocery drops, ,and because they are time specific drops they just stop anywhere "near" the address with no regard for other residents ,so IMHO if there are no barriers on sites then it would be a no no ,and any delivery on other sites must be collected by the member outside any security barriers, but if it is "agreed" for it to happen then where will it stop with site deliveries

If like some posters suggest the CMC should move with the times to mirror the lifestyles of the younger generation, what is next?
A fast food outlet on site and a selection of coffee houses?
Having said that, I do not require the delivery services but would not be opposed to the service if done safely.

"So let's cut to the chase - is anyone seriously suggesting there are young, busy families out there who might be thinking "we'd love to take the kids to a CAMC site for our holidays - oh, hang on, we can't get Tesco to bring us our shopping. Best look elsewhere"? Really?"
"Bit patronising M - there’s a difference between having to have it and preferring it. And the difference is maybe choosing another holiday option."onepjg - I'm not really sure how posing a question can be thought of as "patronising"? I'm just asking if anyone is suggesting there is evidence for this scenario - I may be wrong of course, I don't think there's any evidence one way or the other is there? The OP asked what we thought on the subject - seems some want to shout down anyone with thoughts different from their own!
And I'm not sure there's really a comparison between expecting delivery vans on site and suggesting changes such as being able to book HS et, so nothing to "laugh" about (how's that for patronising, b the way?)
Incidentally, if there is a demand, how many of those same folk are equally happy to drive down to the local supermarket to fill their towcars/MHs with cheap fuel?

Surely the club is missing out on a business opportunity here.....
Within the existing charging structure is a fee for an additional vehicle on site....
Shopping delivery trucks could be allowed on site for the additional vehicle fee........
Tesco won't want to pay that and most members are too tight () so that's the problem solved......it won't happen.....

To be honest it wouldn’t really bother me either way. I wouldn’t have supermarket deliveries personally and most of my time is spent off site exploring and enjoying the local area, so other peoples deliveries wouldn’t affect me.
It goes without saying that if they were allowed ALL site rules must be obeyed.

I'm not saying anything will be allowed to be fair did I? I have a site with no barriers, there are enough vehicles that come visiting of all shapes and sizes at all hours, I don't really need to add formula 1 supermarket delivery drivers to the mix. All I've said is that we'll look into it. Honestly I'll have far more important things to do when we get back, getting the site ready will be a challenge after this weather. What I see as pandering to the few may be attended to when I have the time. (my opinion)
Also, metheven, I have the utmost respect for our members intelligence but on the odd occasion some folk tend to leave that along with the odd dog lead at home

I'm a relatively newcomer and have used Club sites only a couple of times as 95% of my trips are abroad, but I'm flabbergasted that a site could have a staggering 42000 customers in one year!
Is that a misprint?
CAMC site?
Is that the sort of numbers at other similar sites?
Oh, and to be on topic I'd have to order my food from Waitrose as I couldn't stand the neighbours' guffaws and the shame of having a Lidl or Aldi van turn up

fair enough and +1 - you're the boss, as you know I'm against the idea for safety reasons, and I was just asking.

It might be a mis print. If a site had, say 120 pitches (like Godrevy, say) and every pitch was occupied by a different person every night, and it was open all year, it would only have 43800 customers.
So 42000 sounds unlikely......
Suppose it depends which site.....

fair enough but maybe if you actually spent a stay on a club site in school holidays you'll see that pensioners are few and those that are there have (grand)children with them.
Out of school holiday and Monday to Friday I'm usually the youngest on site, weekends and holidays I become the oldest.

I think this whole discussion could have been avoided if the club had informed us that we could provide our shopping lists when booking and leave it to the warden to bring the stuff round when we've settled in.

a) what evidence ? As far as I’m aware the only facts I know are that people occasionally post on here asking if they can, and according to JK he has had a few vans actually arrive on site to deliver. They are actual facts. In my business I generally think that if one person asks, ten have wanted it but not asked, and as people use it others will follow.
b) demand exceeds supply, for now, but what about the future, say 10 or 15 years from now, after all none of us live forever.
c) drop boxes near reception would probably work fine, I agree that vans on sites could become an issue, but I guess it’s site dependent.

Hi,
No misprint, I have the occupancy figures on a monthly basis. The figure is as I said, everybody that stayed on site. There are normally more than one person per pitch.
When you see those graphs in the magazine about bed nights etc and the clubs target, that is per person not per pitch.
My site runs full from Whitsun until the end of September and I turn a lot of people away everyday in that time. At times that could mean 480 +people per day.

Now there's an idea, clean toilets, cut hedges and grass all day or deliver shopping and have a chat? MMmmm I know which one I'm on for, imagine the extra cash I can make with that delivery charge?!

a) you mean three out of 42000? even if ten wanted it as you say, that's 30, that's 0.07%, you base your future business on what 7 in ten thousand people want? No comment either on that - it's your business.
b) People have been saying that for at least 19 years
c) As I have said that could work

We have holidayed all over, from AI in the Caribbean to Butlins. It’s the instead bit that you are not understanding. I do both and I’m sure many others do too, based on chatting to people on sites. They may not change their mind just because of a Tesco delivery but it all adds together, especially to the modern family who want what they want.
EHU - you’re missing my point. Previous generations were happy enough without it, but that has changed and a good thing to !!! Why can’t others.
Hardstanding - again you miss my point. Some people ask for the changes they want, but changes they don’t want are generally dismissed.
I’m not certain they do want deliveries - but certainly some ask or attempt it, so why not try it and see.

Ah sorry JK, I had (wrongly) assumed you meant 42000 different people traipsing into the wardens office to book in etc, not including all the actual people in each unit.....
Apologies......
But it emphasises just how busy you must be running a site with 42000 visitors.....
I personally wouldn't want to have to deal with supermarket vans on top of that......

Thanks JK. I had no idea of numbers.

Not being one of the gang (clique?) I don't know this, but is your site a CC or private site? Presumably it's in Cornwall.......

Yes I'm a site warden employed by the club, currently about to start my third year on my current site and my ninth year with the club.

Leave to decision about deliveries to site to the CMC head office. Once they have made the decision they will tell their site workers to allow deliveries to site or not. There will be no confusion as the rule will apply on every site on the network.
