Cheers Kj, yes tomorrow is supposed to be the worst day, just hope the snow gets cleared and no more over night Wed/Thur. If we can get out of the village and onto the A9 we stand a good chance of getting to Glasgow. Around Auchterarder can be bad if its drifting snow as its so open, we will just have to wait and see.

Been reading through posts since I last posted but haven't posted.
This is just a note to say stay warm and safe during the visit of the 'beast from the east'. I did give you all fair warning that we often avoided the extreme cold and weather when we visit NZ 😉😂.
Nowhere near the same but not had usual weather here, often like a British summer lots of grey days, more than sufficient rain thank you - only consolation is that it isn't cold like British summer rain.Temperatures mid teens to low 20's with occasional hot days. Now have wind, quite strong again, from the south and although still on 3/4 trousers I do have 3 layers on my top half, yesterday socks and trainers too! I have had to retrive my airplane cardigan 😲. My feet didnt like being enclosed but needs must. That said we are sitting outside and the sun occasionally pops out to warm us nicely.
Now looking at our last 15 days here, hope we do get a good deal more of the more usual weather here before we leave and that the 'beast from the east' has left the UK allowing spring to arrive.
Safe journey to all those who have to travel. Stay warm and cosy those away in your 'vans and stay put rather than take risks. TG hope you get away without issues. Sorry about your lack of snow whilst away TTDA. I have read so many posts I really shouldn't pick out certain folk but Oneputt I hope the re-op is scheduled quickly as well as successful. Sorry if I've missed anyone out for something important 😐
The variety of posts and posters on this thread seems to be declining sadly, I reckon I'm one of them. Even this post doesn't make interesting reading as I check the content before posting 😉

The General Chat page back in the heady days of the good old CC used to be a vibrant and entertaining part of CT.
Today it is a faint shadow of what it once was. - It might as well be re titled what are you doing today? Or some other pointless discussion.
Come on CC, re energise this failing Forum or give it the last rights!
Most of you will react to this post with outrage, but as one of the earlier members of this Forum I do remember the refreshing and inspiring way it was launched. Sadly the CC neglected to invest any money in its development, and opted for a series of failed internal re vamps. As a result it fell far behind the group leaders. Shame I suppose. At 73 and with nearly 40 years of caravanning behind me, its time to take it easier. I had hoped that CT would keep me going but it has lost its spark!

Bright and very, very cold here in Robin Hood Country. Certainly would not fancy living in the greenwood this sort of weather. Minus 8.3 last night in our garden, (-5.4 now) so probably a couple of degrees colder out there. Still not much snow, just over an inch, but estate roads are very slippery. It should be bin day today, I wonder if we will get it emptied? Other years, when we have had such weather, they have just missed a week.

I couldn't, ttda, because I was due into work last night and the Shogun is not insured for business use.

My credit report has showed everything paid on time yet when I applied for a Tesco Credit card it was instantly granted!

Thank you, EasyT. That's nice to know! Let's hope that DK and WN can understand that!

I think you're right about that, Kj. Pizza Hut always play by the rules so that if it was due, they would have paid it.

Taken about about an hour ago.
Water troughs frozen. Parlour pipework frozen. Farmers frozen.

Mostly blue sky here yesterday with just the odd snow flurry. This morning it is bright blue again but the temperature is well down. Sea temperatures have plummeted the last few days with the Solent now below 5C. Don't think I'll go for a paddle today.

Just a temporary increase JVB66 because of paying full site fees throughout the winter. Unfortunately, there wasn't a seasonal pitch available in Gatwick for this winter but I've secured a seasonal pitch for next winter. So my future of saving cost for the whole year from 16th March 2018 to March 2019 is secured because the site fees for the whole year are all paid up and whilst that may mean having used more credit and thereby having more debt on my credit card, it's a lovely debt to have because of future savings. I can't understand why you can't see that, JVB66! It means I'll have no sit fees to pay for a whole year other than a couple of nights away every 21 days! What a lovely deal that is and what a worthwhile debt to have! I hope by November this year I'll be paying the CMC another £2000 to secure seasonal pitches for the following year!

You could always turn that failure into success, Oneputt by adopting my lifestyle!

Not in my experience, JVB66. Before my wife and I left for work in China in 2009, we had what was known as affordable housing through a housing association, equivalent of council housing in the old days. The rent plus council tax alone was £100 per week. That in itself was £5200 per year. On top of that I had to pay the water bill, electricity bill, cable tv bill, tv licence bill plus other bills. That was in 2009 to live in a rundown area, nearly 10 years ago. I dread to think what the cost would be today when you add 10 years worth of inflation to that! A month before we moved to Wuhan, China I gave them the required one months notice and that was the end of all those bills. What a relief that was!

Exactly. If it's hard to work out a title for a new thread, maybe best to stick with this one!

So you have always tried to live in areas you could not afford in the past,it just goes to show that we have done as is a known idea "look after the pennies and the pounds will look after them selves" you should have tried it in the past then you would have been setup for your older life as we are

I had to check that I had got to the right page, I thought I had wandered into finance and life style
Snowed all night and about 8cm this morning, still snowing and very windy making almost blizzard conditions. I started to drive my daughter to the main bus station for her work but came back a few hundred meters from the house as you could not literally see where the road was, you had to put yourself in the middle of the houses either side and could not see one streetlamp to the other, so came back.
Widespread disruption up here Stagecoach buses all stopped in Sunderland and South Tyneside, metro running a limited service, and scores of gridlock traffic incidents.
