They're always playing catch-up with any new strain as they have to take into account the current ones months in advance. There are so many variants out there of flu that I'm amazed that they can get them right most of the time.

It would seem that the Australian flu strain was a new one after vaccines had been ordered for this years jabs, so a lot of people have been attacked by it. An elderly neighbour is in hospital with it.

Getting the flu jab will only protect you against a small number of flus, probably why people who come down with flu just after having the jab think that it's the jabs' fault.

I'm obsessive about washing hands in winter more so than summer.

Another busy day trying to avoid anyone with flu!

Took Mrs WN into Chester for Root Canal Treatment, poor woman.  They gave her maximum anaesthetic but it wasn't enough. Outcome looks like tooth might have to come out but there may be complications.

Cooked her some Belly Pork with crackling as a treatsurprised No I didn't!

Booked some time away for 5 nights as we have to be back for next Wednesday as new radiator being fitted.

Hocus Pocus I'm a Diplodocus. wink

We had a good time seeing Dippy at Dorchester today and a nice wander round the rest of the museum, everything from fossils to Thomas Hardy and the Romans. In fact Dippy is standing on some Roman mosaic floors and this is quite rare for the public to be allowed to walk on them. The photos from my phone might work or not...

Feeling a bit better than I did earlier managed to eat tea tonight. Headache seems to have gone as well so bonus there, off to bed shortly so hope to get a good nights sleep.

OH had his flu jab end of October but as yet I've not had mine, doesn't seem to be many folk still getting it up here but will look to see if they are still giving jab (i have to pay for mine) I'm hoping my problems today are short lived and it was just because I had done too much and not slept well for a few nights.

It went quiet at work by 8 p.m. so they let me go home early. So I left work at 8.30 p.m. and was back at the site by 9.10 p.m. It was an easy journey home as there was much less traffic at that time.

The journey to work from Gatwick was a different story. It took one hour and ten minutes in rush hour traffic!

Great photos, brue. Just out of interest, is it open admission or do you need to book in advance to see Dippy? I can't imagine the Dorchester museum can cope with the same numbers as his/her previous home! wink

    Lovely photo's Brue.

Looks like it going to be another cold but sunny day.

Need to do some gardening work, but I think I'll leave it until it warms up.

The birds are busy nesting, nice to watch them collecting twigs, and to help them I put the fluff collected in the tumble drier out for them.

Thanks for the photo comments, since the changeover with photos on here my phone photos only seem to work well in portrait mode (android phone with Sony camera.)

Moulesy, (I think Helen mentioned a possible visit too.) You can book a free time slot on line. We arrived early intending to pay for for a museum visit first but they let us in to see Dippy. The only hold ups were near his head where there is a glass screen and everyone wanted photos with him! It worked well, nice atmosphere, lots of volunteers helping and much better than being in the big London museum crowds. Also we booked at 3pm, after school visits. We parked by the shops via Church St and had a snack lunch in "Dorch" but there is a good café at the museum.

    Great photos Brue, smile

Managed to get the outside of the caravan cleaned yesterday in the end, it's now back to being white laughing probably not for long though.

Bright day today but chilly, heard from youngest son, him and his girlfriend are coming at the weekend, something to look forward to.smile

Thanks for the info on Dippy Brue , have checked online, just got to work out if we will have time to fit in a visit  only in the area for a couple of days. Would love to see Dippy again it's been years since we took the boys to the NH museum.  Glad you had a good day.

Lovely sunny day here in Gatwick. Plenty of planes to watch landing and taking off every couple of minutes. Working again tonight but day off tomorrow.

We'll be moving back to Brighton on Monday, so we're hoping the weather will stay fine for our move or is that wishful thinking at this time of year?

I have another day off on Sunday, the day before our move, so plenty of time then to get ready for the next day! I won't know next weeks rota until the weekend but I could be lucky enough to have a day off on Monday! If not, at least it will be a shorter distance to commute!

Just spent some time setting up the wifi security camera I bought. It can be free standing or wall / ceiling mounted and can pan and tilt. I did have an old primitive  one  that we used to set up looking at the front door when we went away, so we could check on mail build up, but it packed up. If I set this up in the hall I can not only monitor the letter box but stairs, part of kitchen and burglar alarm display. Pictures are amazingly sharp, not sure how much mobile data it will gobble though, as can't see it working on CC WiFi.

Lovely day today sun shining and getting warmer, very cold first thing with a frost overnight.

Feeling better today so managed to get up to sons house to do a bit in the garden, OH was up in the attic sorting out a problem with the cold water tank over flow. Didn't have enough time to strip tank out as other commitments but he has drained both hot and cold tanks and turned off the mains stop cock, so no more drip. Tomorrow he's going to take out the tank to clean it and sort the problem with the ballcock. I will more than likely do a bit more in the garden if its dry.

Currently sat on couch with the sun coming through the lounge window and its very warm, not wanting to go back outside but need to crack on with my garden now for an hour or so while OH out at the lunch club.

Love it when its nice and sunny like this even if its chilly out.

Day of pottering both inside and outside.  Had to pick up medication, think I must have more in the house than the chemist, instead of renewing every 56 days it seems every 30 days which is fine if we are away but a bit of a liberty with NHS money

Oneputt, is it 30 days or 28? Reason being that our doctors won't give out 56 days now, as people have the insensitivity of dying whilst they still have over 1 months supply and therefore a waste of money, hence the "1 month" supply but actually 4 weeks.

As we are often away for over the 28 days I usually put down that I'll be away and they then condesend to allow me 56 day supplies.(Sometimes they don't notice on the repeat so I just carry on. I hope I don't go and die before at least starting the second months supply.smile)

The make is Swann. One of my sons has one of the muti camera HDR systems and is very pleased with it, hence my decision to go for the make. Not the cheapest at £99 but well made and picture quality is first class. Also easy to set up, it talks you through it. I bought it from Maplin, which we have locally. The link below is to the product on their website. It was slightly cheaper on Amazon but I would have to have paid delivery.

One thing to consider is the speed of your broadband. As the camera is HD and you don't seem to be able to reduce the quality significantly. I recently upgraded to BT infinity, so no problems. However, with my previous camera and standard broadband, I could only use it in low resolution as my uplink speed was so poor, and it just could not handle the HD feed.

    Swann WiFi camera.

My  prescription  is  renewable  on  line,  so  I'm  getting  28  days worth  of NHS  Goodies  but  I'm  working  on  the  basis  of  twenty  six   ( 26 )  days  in  my  'Medication Month '  so  to  speak.

This  way  I'll  not  run  short  should  I  take  an  unplanned  break  away  from home.  I'll  start  behaving  better  when  I  reckon  I've  got  enough  back-up  to  be  safe.  I  don't  consider  it  to  be  profligate  wih  NHS Resources  --  ABM  in  a  Diabetic  pickle  will  use  much,  much  more !

The  one  thing  that  does  annoy  me  is  the  fact  that  dropping  the  scrip  request  in  and  then  collecting  &  taking  to  pharmacy  by  hand  permits  me  to  get  medication  in  48 - 72  hours  but  using  this  'up to date  'electronic paperless  system'  Takes  7 ( SEVEN ) days  minimum.undecided  AND  They  put  a  paper  request  form  in  the  bag  with  the  pills.

P.S. / Edit  Don't  forget  OP  the  forecast  is  down  to  -5ish  at  night  next  week  so  no  tender  plants  in  the  cold  cold  earth  yet  surprised

We get three months at a time, in fact you can reorder after two months. I agree there can be a downside as there is sometimes waste. Margaret has just had to go onto a third insulin injection a day but they knocked on the head one of her long term diabetes medications. Because she had previously taken about four a day she has quite  a reserve which was justified by how much she took. However she now has quite a bit of this medication which is surplus to requirements. It can be taken to the chemist for disposal but it can't be used by anyone else. As its a generic medication I expect its as cheap as chips but still waste.

David,  the  chemist  gave  me  the  wrong  type  of  insulin  a  while  back  --  same  stuff  but  not  in  a  pen  such  as  I  use.  I  thought  it  was  wrong  due  to  package  size,  but  having  opened  the  parcel  to  check  whilst  still  in  the  shop,  they  said  sorry,  gave  me  the  correct  item  &  then  put  the  'wrong'  one  straight  into  the  shops  Controlled  Waste  Bin.

Good move AD, we did the same a month ago.smile

We don't use RP these days but was interested in the winter rallies and THS's so going to give it a year trial to see how we get on. So far not had any complaints, ferries can be booked at similar rates and their house insurance covers 180 days for members.

Their pricing band for sites is good too, none of this silly up for 2 days down for 3 days then back up again nonsense. We booked 2 nights on a C&CC site and 2 nights cl for the price of 2 nights on a C&MC site in the same area.

We get 2 months prescription at a time but can order again after 1 month if going away.

Provided we check our prescriptions in the chemist, if anything wrong they can go back into stock but once left the chemist they get binned. Managing to get a bit of a stock pile for our longer trips.

Lovely sunny day all day but its going to be a cold night tonight. Brrrr
