UK TV in Europe

Does anyone have any experience of using

    I have used similar whilst in Europe. It basically works by disguising the IP address so that it appears that you are connecting in the UK rather than on a beach in the South of France! There used to be a free version of something similar called FilmOn but you had extra adverts. It does rely on having a reasonable wifi signal or phone signal if using tethering or a mifi device. If you are using 4G via either of those methods with a Windows laptop I would suggest trying to download something on iPlayer before you go check how much data you use as I have found using my phone as a wifi point uses a lot of data on even mundane tasks. Others seem to use much less data when using a tablet.

    We used to use 'filmon' when the SD version was free to use;however, more often than not the digital stream would break up annoyingly. Didn't matter as we wern't paying!

    As David has advised, tv streaming takes a good signal and a high data rate. Most campsite wifi has limited bandwidth which ha to be shared with other users. Some hotels and campsite wifi systems bar streaming.

    Take some box sets of tv series or CDs to see you through cold dark winter evenings ( even in Spain) or listen to BBC radio on iplayer.

    We used to occasionally look at FilmOn but as others have said, site WiFi in France and elsewhere is never good enough to get continuity of reception and it is also unfair on other users as it grabs too much bandwidth.

    In 30 years of caravan and Motorhome we only ever took the TV with us once. Our solution is to take about 15 books away with us and/or the Kindle but each to his own.

    We used to use Filmon on sites in Spain which had good wifi.

    However now we have a good roof mounted dish we can get UK channels over pretty much most of France, Spain and Portugal.

    I will own up to liking my tv (well some programmes) usually watched for an hour before bed especially in the autumn/winter months.

    Thank you all for your comments.  I too am fed up with trying to get a Satellite signal through trees - though last year we did find out by chance that a number of the Spanish "Dubbed" TV programmes can often we viewed in English (the original language) by using the "Tools" button on the remote and returning it to English.

    I am not surprised with your comments and will return to the drawing board
