Dog owners again

Just back from Lady Margaret. The  number of dog owners exercising their dogs off leads and using the grass pitches as sh.....ing ground was disgusting. Not the odd one but generally used. Yes we told the warden and they are equally frustrated. Surely the club has to  take acton. Either Ban all dogs ,charge for them or take draconian action against perpetrators. There can be no other site with more dog exercising or adjacent parkland than Lay Margaret. All dog owners must accept responsibility for what is becoming a greater problem.

some of the answer is with the warden when booking in ,by asking you if have a dog and reminding you of your obligations. the only site I was asked if we had a dog was a C&CC site ,and then they gave out a poo bag and a dog treat

At Castleton at the moment and when booking in the warden asked if we had a dog. We have previously been dog owners and if we had a dog now we would abide by the rules on the Caravan Club sites. The trouble is a lot of members don’t abide by the rules which spoils it for members that do.

I disagree. And Castleton's dog walk is hardly indicative of many CC's dog walk areas.

Actually, I was just mentioning a point that there are rules on the Caravan club site.

Just for the record. We did enjoy ourselves. Went thee specifically for the Snowdrops at the Castle. They are fully out and worth a visit. Had nothing to do with   the irresponsible dog owners. Agree with Metheven who confirms what the draconian measures should be. Chuck them off site and ban them from the club. Thanks  for agreeing.

Aside from your current rant about dog poo, what other aspects of LMP don't you like Fish? You always seem to come back with a less than glowing report about the site, yet you keep on visiting?

It's got very good reviews on some independent campsite websites, haven't checked Club website reviews, but I doubt if vast majority are anything other than favourable.smile

It's a crime against dog ownership to actually call Castleton's 'dog walk' area a dog walk!cool

Many thanks to the OP for highlighting those breaches of the CMC on-site rules.

As a responsible dog owner I am saddened to hear that there are still some caravanners who disregard the CMC rules allowing their dogs to foul on CMC sites and run around off-lead.

I agree that draconian measures should be taken against those owners. guilty of this disgusting practice.. Whose responsibility is it to ensure that the CMC on- site rules are complied with ?---- THE Warden's.!!!

Wardens have the right to remove the offending owners from the site and send a report to head office where their Membership can be revoked.. It's not rocket science Wardens, use the powers invested in you by head office.  That's what you are being paid to do.

    cool

Mousley believe it or not but it was really busy, I would say 3/4 full on Saturday. This next week end even busier. No it was only a small minority acting foolishly. We do use it in winter as its the only CC site open in North Wales at this time of year.

I would not blame the owner for accidents . nor the dog. I have however seen dogs walked around site for the express purpose of the dog doing its full toilet. I have seen it on Southport site on a couple of occasions where dogs have not appeared to be walked off site as the owners went off each morning with dogs left either in caravan or awning ad then walked around site in the evening. There is dog walking immediately off site. I have seen dogs let out first thing whilst owners appear to be still dressed for bed and have seen dos walked on site to answer the call of nature on a number of occasions.

I felt particularly sorry for the staffies at Southport as they did not seem to get a fair crack of the whip.

Such owners are in the minority.

Not sure why you should be responsible other than for your own animals

Thank you for clarifying that, F. Maybe it would have been wiser to make clear either in your title or OP that it was "a minority" you were objecting to.

As has been said many, many times before, responsible dog owners are as appalled, maybe more so, at those few who abuse the welcome given to dogs on site, as non owners. To suggest they (the responsible owners) should shoulder responsibility for that minority is hardly well thought out (IMHO).

Just to vary the theme a little can we have a thread about non-dog owners.
