Of course we don't even know whether the OP wanted a weekend or or a longer stay that straddled a weekend.

Does anyone know if members of the Club can use the bistro even if they have not managed to obtain a pitch?
I know I could 'phone the warders, but they will be so busy answering calls looking for weekend bookings that I don't want to bother them.

When we stayed there last November/ December midweek was quiet but come Friday it was a constant stream of vans/MH.The site was full until Sunday then started to empty again, nothing wrong with that so if it say's full on the web-page then a phone call as other members have said may be required, Nav you don't have to show your Membership card if you want to use the Bistro so i don't think you have to be on site but at weekends i would imagine it can get busy (we used midweek).

Not in the great scheme of things, no. It might clarify whether it was a "he booked the weekend before I did" or whether he considered long-stayers should have some sort of priority.

"Non-members welcome" people will not have a card to show. I was thinking more a of licence or planning restriction to limit it to residents only. Might have to produce a barrier card if challenged.

The Wanderer will be open to guests staying on site.
Just seen this on the site description, so i have to apologize but we didn't get asked for any barrier card or membership card, cannot see it being profitable out of high season as you say peedee when there is a Pub just up the road. So who is going to make up the shortfall or is it Franshised.

Kj, yes we were on the bigger of the 2 Keswick sites, the other one isn't open just now. If you've not been before its worth noting it can be quite a hike to the facilities block from some of the pitches, worth asking for a pitch near them if possible.

I was not having a moan, was just wondering if the site/area had something 'not to be missed' at weekends. Aparently not, just weekenders in the area. I was looking for an extended stay which included a weekend. As I work most weekends I am unable to choose to go when one happens to be free. I did ring the site, no chance, fully booked. Thank you Tinwheeler, comments not helpful, practically abusive.

Booked in at Keswick again instead. Superb site brilliant staff. Just have to watch the weather as Derwentwater tends to encroach onto the site occasionally.

Hi Eeyoresdad
This is an open forum, users should comply with the community guidelines. If you think that someone has been abusive, there is a report button on the top right corner of each post. The community manager then looks at the reported post and takes the appropriate action.
I hope this gives you some reassurance and you will continue to use the forum. Remember the written word can be taken many ways, most posters on here are helpful when they can, even when it's a warden posting!!!

I think if you'd been clearer in your opening post that you needed a specific weekend other suggestions might have emerged. Saying that all the weekends were full wasn't the real picture and others may have thought this was so. Hope you enjoy Keswick, Knaresborough will still be there for another time.

That’s certainly not the way you worded your first post, Eeyore. To say "every weekend is booked solid throughout the year" is very misleading when it appears neither to be true nor what you were talking about.
Had you explained yourself properly in the first instance, I would not have used humour and assumed we were going off on the same old course.
Practically abusive? Come on, get real. Abusive posts don’t contain smileys and they don't collect 'likes'.

We were there over the new year and were told that the new pitches were having to close from 02 Jan because the local council hadn’t granted planning permission for them to be open all year. Maybe the Bookings for these pitches have been blocked until the issue has been resolved. Having said that the site has always been popular and the bistro is an attractive feature hence its popularity.

That’s a ridiculous thing to suggest, Via. Nobody is hounding anyone. If you feel that is the case, then you have the report button at your disposal.
However, bear in mind that the ‘innocent question’ was worded in a very misleading way.

That's putting it mildly "every weekend is booked solid throughout the year" There are actually 6 weekends available in August and September, so not even out of season.
A totally misleading post by the OP in my opinion.
