Am I missing something good here? Just tried to book time on this site, every weekend is booked solid throughout the year. Only mid-week dates left. Reasons anybody?

Perhaps that's the time anyone who is working can get away??  What do you think?

My goodness! Weekends booked up at a popular site - who'd have thought it? surprised

Stand by, here we go again. It's not fair, it's not right, people who work shouldn't be allowed to do it, we retired folk need full weeks, bookings should be restricted, deposits should be taken, serial bookers who cancel should be banned.........  Have I missed anything?undecided

Afraid you have to get in early for Sites close to towns and cities! You could take a look at Port Arthur Farm CL, which is very close to Club Site. Has way above usual CL basics, but is popular.

I think your suggestion is helpful JVB, we managed to get a late cancellation booking at Knaresborough when we visited, we enjoyed our stay there.

I suppose the fact that the site was closed for much of last years season and the fact it has had a major upgrade would have increased its popularity.

The fact that York Beechwood is closed till after summer will not be helping the situation either.

Out of interest I've checked the site and there are some weekends available. August and September in particular so I didn't search any further, serviced pitches are very busy.

would it be the block bookers even though some say it doesn't happen we tried to book sites around us Yorkshire but weekends taken up but of course block booking doesn't happen and yes we phoned sites up only to be told wait until closer to the date you want because some will cancel ?

It is a site we like and have used, in spring and autumn,  a couple of times, but I doubt we will use it very much in future as the prices are pretty steep now.

And a serviced pitch there is now well beyond our budget.

I see also that the prices at Beechwood seem to have risen too for when it reopens.  All these improvements obviously have to be paid for!

Looks like we will be using more CCC sites in shoulder season and only CLs or £14 sites in  high season.

We are on our second C&CC site Kj having just joined. At the moment prices are great value with the oldies discount. Nice sites but the pitches are not as roomy. I think this site would feel cramped in the busy summer months.

Weekends are not something we book unless its part of a longer tour.

The CCC sites are quite pricy in summer too.  Which site are you on now TG?

but if you check there is a minimum of three nights stay on popular CCC sites, One of the Keswick ones I think, so booking a weekend becomes more even more expensive.

Will not be a problem if you do not do just weekends.

Currently on Keswick site Kj for 2 nights, they didn't have Sunday available  but happy to give us Mon & Tues. For info you can get a 1 night booking but it has to be on the day, not in advance.

TG, I presume you are on the big Keswick site, not the smaller, newer one they call Derwentwater?

Thinking we may stop on one of them for 4 or 5 nights in June.

Thanks, TG. I've done that before and I've also spoken directly to wardens who will sometimes override the system in advance. It's on line and via the call centre where the rules are upheld and it can be a pain.

Oh no not another hot spot site inviting speculative booking. The soon the Club deals with this problem the better the Club will be for it.

This has interested me so I have just checked availability, it is not true that weekends are fully booked all year. From mid August on there is availability every weekend, indeed all week, except the new year weekend. As mentioned earlier Beechwood Grange being shut has not helped. Due to Yorkshire being to far from home for a weekend break for us, we may well consider this site as part of a two week tour of the north east in the autumn.

It has been posted on many threads that "full" weekends are mostly caused by overlap of longer stays
