What are you all up to

Oneputt, I still can't get my head around seeing some of these birds that we normally only used to see as rarities. We saw a Glossy Ibis one December a few hears ago on the marshes at Southport. Driving into our local town, about 5 miles inland from the River Dee, I saw a Little Egret in a field on the edge of town. We now have over-wintering Great White Egret on the Wirral and still have at least 1 Cattle Egret.
A few years from now you'll be remembering when Glossy Ibises were rare in winter.
Don't do anything silly tomorrow but remember to take a photo when you do.

Enjoy, Helen. Hope you like black pudding.
Mrs WN from that neck of the woods and we used to live nearby. Fond memories of visiting CAMRA pubs from there, northwards into Lancashire and even venturing into the forbidden land of, whisper it, Yorkshire.

Hope you have a lovely time with your son next week Helen.

Not keen on Black Pudding myself,
but Trevor loves it

Rather a boring week here. Mostly medical and dental appointments.
Hope all those who have been poorly recover soon.

Thanks Millie. When is your first trip with the van?

We were supposed to be going awayin the van today for our first weekend away of 2018 but the wearher has put a stop to that. We were going to Loch Lomond but the snow is everywhere between here and there (40 miles) so we decided not to go as didnt want to risk an accident no snow here on the coast but about 2 miles out of town is covered. We ended up at our local Frankie and Bennys tonight for dinner which was lovely but so disappointed not to be away in van. It will be 2 weeks now before we can go so fingers crossed.

Have a good trip up to Burrs, H&T. Hope that the weather's cleared up by then.
Take care with the stitches, OP. Have you decided where you'll head to when you can get away?
Glad to hear that both you and OH are feeling much better, brue.
Must get down to planning our next trip, although not sure where to head for yet. Jobs to be done as soon as it warms up a little, cleaning van and car take priority. Today was fine but bitterly cold after a short hail/rain shower this morning so OH got all the washing completed and out for a while with some drying success.

Nothing booked so far other than our 2 weeks in June Helen. OH hasnt been too well because of his pernicious anaemia recently but he has seen the GP today who has increased his B12 injections so hopefully we will be back on track soon and can start planning.

After rather heavy rain, again, for 2 days which changed to showers yesterday (Friday) it's turned out sunny and 28c phew 😅. I'm sitting in the shade with the accompanied by cicadas, Tui and NZ fantails typing this before heading in for another shower 😲 before heading off to a bbq.
Went to a Tamahere market this morning. Held monthly in the church grounds, good selection of local produce from the grown in the ground variety through small kitchens producing sauces and accompaniments, home smoked fish and meat, wild - from the Kaimai Ranges version and salami, to plants and small producers of natural soaps, make up, soothing creams etc. A good outlet for all of the more self sufficient lifestyle folks. Sadly the folks who make beautiful toughened glass table mats etc and the wood turner were missing this month, hopefully better luck next month.
Sorry to read both you and your OH are only slowly recovering brue. Spoke to my mum this morning who says it's freezing - can't imagine that as I'm looking for shade 😲. I don't suppose the weather helps speed of recovery! But I do hope you continue towards recovery.
Oneputt I loved the article on the penguins at Felixstowe and I do hope you get to see them. If we were in the UK we' have popped there for a look see. Speedy recovery for your 'wounds', hope you're not confined to barracks for too long.
We have noted many more European motorhomes and caravans here this time, previously we rarely saw one but see several a day on the roads and on the campsite we stay on. Sadly they also have little idea of 'absolute maximum speed - walking pace' so it must be an inbuilt problem 😉. If the likes of Swift and Bailey can export this far the waiting times for new motorhomes and caravans may increase considerably.
Edit just checked thermometer on my phone which says 34c humidity 49.9%. Now it can be a little out but that might explain why I still feel warm!

Dull, grey and damp day what a contrast to the last few days. Today is a day to plan this years holidays. We have 2 weeks away in spring, 3 or 4 weeks in Summer, depending on how far we travel, and 2 weeks in autumn, plus spontaneous days in between. This years summer break will be South East , and would like to return to Lake District or Yorkshire in the Autumn.
I feel so blessed that we have the health and time to just hitch up and go. So nice to go away, nice to be home, then yearning to be away somewhere different.

Lovely to hear from you Bakerrs2 and to hear all your news. The local market sounds lovely as does the weather. Pouring with rain here today but not warm rain like yours
We were hoping to do a bit of clearing up in the garden after the storm (I think every leaf in the neighbourhood blew our way
) but that will have to wait for drier weather so indoor jobs again
. Have a good day everyone.
I didn't know there was a park run in FM today JVB. I might have been tempted to go and watch but not in this weather.

Sorry to hear Mr H hasn't been well Millie, hope the new dose injections improve things for him. I'am sure you will be booking a trip to Houghton Mill before too long.

Weather wet and very cold this morning, plans for today have been postponed. Looks like I may have to tackle the big pile of ironing instead!
Nice to hear your news from NZ Bakers2.
I love local markets.

I'm sure we will Helen.
Just wish NI family would decided when and if they are coming over here sometime. We might just go ahead and book anyway.
Edit: I think it will be ironing for me as well today.

That would be much too hot for me, Bakers2! I prefer cold, crisp, winter mornings when the sun is shining!

The caravan is home to me, cariadon. I don't need any other home than that. After all, you can't live in two places at once, can you? So it means one lies empty whilst the other is being used.
