This used to be available from the Club shop, but I cannot find it at the moment, can anyone post a link to it?

What I need to know is the standard cover periods so I can keep our trip within one of them, expensive if you go a day or two over!

Here is the brochure KjellNN - I've copied the link to Personal and Motoring, but there is also Motoring only, or Personal only.

But the periods of cover might be more clear here

I still can't find the various number of days listed.

Do they intentionally make it difficult to understand?

Hi Val, thanks but I have already read those and like Grant, I cannot see the various lengths of cover........it goes something like 0-12 days, 13-25 days, 26-44 days, 45-65 days.

Not the correct figures I know, just an illustration.  I do know there is a period that is something to 65 days as that was the one we had last year, but thinking of a shorter trip this year.

    Interesting checking this out.

We haven't used Red Pennant for a couple of years but in the past we used to take out Long stay 122 days cover, we could make as many journeys as we liked but in total they couldn't exceed more than 122 days in the year.

Just checked this years RP and that doesn't appear to be available anymore. Multi trip cover is available, however you are held to 66 days at a time we like to go for longer than that, so under the new RP it would mean that we would have to take out 2 or 3 policies a year.

I haven't been able to find the page that I think Kj was referring to where you could see all the options and prices at a glance. Now you get the options but only the price once you ask for a quote, not sure if I'm doing it wrong but don't like what I'm seeing.

Kj the periods of cover used to be,

Long stay 122 or 185 days

    Multi trip 31, 45, 66,

    Single trip 31, 45, 66, 94, 122

Seems a few things have change because although I read that you can still get a multi trip for 66 days when you do a quote it only gives you 60 days.

Yes, , you can get a quote, but have to give dates first.  We want to arrange our dates to fit with the insurance periods.

Yes, not the way we do things either. Thankfully we don't use RP anymore, we have full European breakdown with our Nationwide account for free annual policy.

Thanks TG, 45 days would likely be enough, I will try a quote with that.

Will also look at the offering from the other club as we are members there too.

We had that too, but once you are over 70 they are not keen to cover you!  And having a big caravan does not help with the breakdown bit!

£7.23 per day, plus site fees, bit more than we are used to on our longer trips.

Cannot stay away too long this year due to impending arrival of grandson!   Do not want to miss too much of his development, they grow and change so fast when they are little!

I use the medical part of the Nationwide cover but you must pay for over 30 days. The Recovery/breakdown part only has £800 car hire and very basic recovery in local area. If you tow a caravan, hire car will not have tow bar.

No problem if you're already with them when you pass 70!

Are the prices anywhere online? They used to be included in the RP brochure.

AD, I did notice that, (phil commented on it up thread) as like you this is what we used to do when we took out RP.

We now use Nationwide but have used Green Flag European + and we are now C&CC members so possible to look there if we needed to.

Very disappointing that the club have changed things without any notification prior to doing so. RP is expensive enough without doing this.

I recently requested an online quote and the email reply included a list of all the prices for all the duration categories....  I can't seem to attach it here, but I'll forward to your email if you let me have it?  Maybe someone else knows how to attach it for all to see?cool

I searched for the brochure, but only the 2017 one came up.  Looks like there is no 2018 one as yet.

Meantime I am working on the assumption that the number of days for the single trip RP has not changed.

Can you type in a list  of the number of days in each band?  Just to make sure those have not changed from last year.

We like to arrange our ferries to make maximum use of what we are paying for!

    Thanks!

Many thanks for posting that AD, been busy this afternoon out of the house so not had chance yet to do a comparison with C&CC.

As you say worth it for those kind of savings.

You would think there might be some joined up thinking at EG.

    Ferry deals? check

Camping Cheques? um, quote with them but we may have problems later.

    Red Pennant? Oh hell

Quite a few people going to be seriously disappointed if RP being cut back on. C&CC going to see a rise in membership.

The date bands for Single trip are:

    Number of Days 1-6 7-12 13-24 25-31 32-45 46-66 67-94 95-122.

Annual Multi Number of Days 31 45 66

Long stay  Number of Days 122 185.

    Hope this helps.

Can I suggest you request an online quote - the club send you a thank you email with the full brochure as a PDF attached...

Question for AD... are the policy requirements directly comparable (assuming no 'special medical circumstances' or 12+ yr old vehicle?
