Off to Germany and The Netherlands for an 8 week trip in Spring/early Summer.

Nowhere else booked but will probably stay in the UK for any other trips which will be as frequent as we can get away.

We decide on one trip at a time with the motorhome unless special occasions. demand otherwise. A trip to Spain is already booked in the diary and we will firm up on the next trip/s when we get back.

Reading these posts is fairly obvious 90% plus of posters are retired, lucky buggers!!

We aren't retired but hope for  5 days in Gloucestershire in May, main holiday Dorset & New forest end of June & 5 days in Anglesey in August.

Hopefully a couple of weekenders as well.

We did Boston, New York, New England and Washington DC in October.  It was the most amazing holiday, you will love it.  Sooo expensive now thanks to Brexit.

Far too early for us..  We're thinking about Austria sometime in spring (flight & hotel), but nothing else planned.

We rarely know where we're going until we return.

Why disconnect, LewisJack? I can see no point and have never known anyone do this.

The fridge will only run from the car battery when the engine is running.

Turning the gas off is a must and ferry staff will probably remind you.

Right...here goes with my original post of 10 minutes ago.

Wife and I are booked with our 'van on overnight ferry Portsmouth to Bilbao 9th May for a 25 x night tour of south west France (Aquitaine & Midi Pyrenees). We've pre-booked our 4 x preferred sites.  Return by same route on 5th June.  All stops en route to & from our Helensburgh home are also booked and I believe I have gathered together all necessary safety/legal accessories for travelling on French & Spanish AutoRoute's.

As relative newcomers to this exciting way of life, I do however have one query. Should I disconnect towing electrics once embarked and reconnect before disembarking?  No perishables will be carried in fridge during the crossing.

Tinwheeler - many thanks for your earlier answer. Appreciate your explanation.  Regards, Lew & Irene JACK
