the Safefill saga continues, I called into my local morrisons which has autogas on its forecourt, and was promptly refused first told health and safety, the excuse for everything, when shown that no risk was involved ,their own "red book" instructions, they said there pump had no auto off, pointed out that bottle has own overfill protection. they just looked blank and said its morrisons own rule, I have contacted morrisons but don't hold out much hope of a reply

If I were managing a Morrisons Station I would not choose to permit it either. Given the relatively low level sale I would not put on the till operatives the responsibility of ensuring that the bottle being refilled was actually a safefill as opposed to some DIY job. Why would I?

Sadly, I think that is it, great pity nevertheless.

I wouldn't worry about it, sadly I think we are going to see the demise of the LPG pump in the not too distant future. Electric cars and hybrids will take the place of the LPG engine as being the cleanest and most economical to run.

TG, i can see South Inch and JOneCall both in Perth and they both "seem" to have been verified by recent visits, this week...

is there a different one you found that is now closed?

I thin you may  be right Pd, on other forums some people are having issues filling in Portugal as its only allowed for propulsion.

BP pulled out of the market and as I have said repeatedly on here why would a garage go to all the trouble of installing, maintaining and calibrating an LPG pump for someone to fill with £8 of LPG a few times a year?  Hope they don't as we have gaslow but places are few and far between and getting fewer.

That's strange because the one we use is the South Inch one.

Last time we drove past the Lpg pump had vanished. Just phoned them and yes we've moved the pumpsurprised he said he thinks they must be the last one on earth, its that busywink

Onecall, Shore Road  is a calor supplier but their garage next door used to have a pump but that's long gone, phoned to check if they have reinstated it answer no.

Thanks for checking, we are away with the MH for a week so at least we know we can fill up again on our return. What site do you use to check?

ps, you can download their POI files for your satnav for all or just some european countries, a very useful thing if you dont have wifi or 3/4g when on the roadsmile

Well we've done the deed and invested in a safe fill cylinder.  We've ordered a medium and the best deal we cold find was from Jacksons of Old Arley who were charging £149.99 with free delivery.

Will be despatched to us on Monday.  Just need to find a filling location that will accept it near the Cirencester Club site.  We've now found 3 not too far from home, but probably won't get a chance to fill before Cristmas.

Hmm, methinks a review of priorities is needed.wink

I agree Spriddler.  Dear Employer, it's Christmas and I need my gas cylinder filling, so I'm not going to come to work until I've succeeded, after all there are really no customers as they are to busy shopping for turkey's to go car shopping laughing

Had an email today from Holbrook Garage at Stroud to confirm I can fill our cylinder with them, so we should be able to fill at the weekend asuming the cylinder arrives.

Well the cylinder arrived and I'm pleased to say I think it's one of the best things we've invested in.

We managed to get it filled locally in Cirencester but it was someone who didn't really understand the Safefill Cylinder.  We put 10 litres of gas in it on the 23rd and we took it off today today to go and give it a top up as we'd used the oven a lot.

Catherine, where in Cirencester did you fill?

we'll be up to Bibury tomorrow and i was looking to fill (a gaslow), i see there are two stations, BP and the Co-Op both on the Burford road.

    thanks.

Hi BB.  The place who filled the cylinder reluctantly last weekend was John Stayte Services at 82 Chesterton Lane.  We found their details on the caravan club leaflet when we arrived.  I say reluctantly because he was one of the "Can only fill a fixed tank" crowd.  Today we went up to the greenshop (NW of Ciren/NE of Stroud), which I'd suggest you avoid with a motorhome.  With reference to the BP station on Burford Road,  as far as I'm aware the one closest to town doesn't fill LPG any more.  Not sure about the Service Station that's on the roundabout.  There is also supposedly a texaco station at GL7 7JR alongside the A417.

Let me know where you go and how you get on for future reference.

I cannot copy and paste the link but look at lpgmap.co.uk

you will need to create an (free) account but this is quite comprehensive.

    Catherine, thanks for the info.

i use MYLPG.EU as my data source as it covers the whole of Europe, but also has a useful 'confirmed' fill marker which shows the date of last  fill.

the two on this map are the BP one on Burford road, last confirmed a couple of days ago, and the Coop on the roundabout up the road, last confirmed several weeks back.

its not urgent, but ill report back which, if any, i use.

remember, im filling a fixed tank not a Safefil bottle.

    thanks again for the response.

just filled at the Coop (signposted services, along with Travelodge) at junction of A417 and Bibury road.

LPG pump on right as you enter, has a pump on each side.

    give it a go.

Excellent.  We've just been for diesel at the BP, couldn't see an LPG pump, but then that could be just me.

I forgot to mention that I ran out of gas (Gaslow) in France but fortunately I had bought the French adapter in advance, pulled up to the services in Bai du Somme, couldn’t have been easier. Even for me!  about €13 filled me up 🤗

    could not recommend enough!

And I forgot again, the gumph says that Gas is available on most services in France. I did notice, driving along the motorway that when it gives the price of fuel it says + LPG (or the French equivalent) on most, not all, signs.
