I had the great pleasure of cleaning the oven, 20 years of having to clean them to 'new' standard living in Army quarters has at least given me the skills in which to do it fairly easy and quickly, though nowadays its clean but not 'new'.

That is one job we are happy to leave to the professionals. Last year even got them to do the one in the motorhome!

We had to walk across to our local Co-Op for some more potatoes and noticed three youngsters across from the entrance singing Christmas songs. Not making a judgement on their professionalism but admired their entrepreneurial enterprise  to earn a bit of pocket money. I gave them £1. Margaret was feeling in a less generous mood when she had to pay £3 for my Observer newspaper!!!

oh Tammygirl why do you have to make me feel like a slut? Haven't done ours won't be doing ours until the spring - if then 😉. I'd love some tips on how to make 'easy'. That's one reason to feel sorry for service wives 😆

Just as we were recovering our early morning loss of sleep on opposite sofas with Oklahoma on the telly a neighbour came across to tell us what's happening over their side of the village. So that's our energy recoup gone and now for the mammoth veg peeling session....my thoughts go out to all veg peelers everywhere. wink

All peeled and the peelings fed to the cows. There seemed to be more peelings than actual veg. Are cauliflowers getting smaller?

Now to wash up and get the good pots out for tomorrow.

Back from the pub, BIl and 2 of his daughters enjoyed getting out.  A few scoops of Batemans triple x went down well, so guessing I will be in good voice for the Carol service at 10.30pm.  Don’t you just love this time of year smile

Doesn't really bother me to be honest David, I do it regular so doesn't take that long. Might look at a new one in the coming year though as this one has been in for 9 or 10 years so an upgrade is needed me thinks wink

Certainly am WN and it will be my pleasure.  Might even take them down to Oulton Marshes in the evening to see if there are any owls about.

Have a great time whatever you are up to.

Another dry day and a walk from Barton on Humber along the coastal path and then back through the wild life reserves. Spotted a murmuration of starlings over the estuary as we drove along the coast roar near South Ferraby, and then another Marsh Harrier over the clay pits as we were having our picnic.

By chance spotted a Lidl on the way there so called in for bread and more sprouts, of course, so saving us having to shopping before next Friday. Of course we also other stuff we thought we might just need, including more beer!!

laughing to make it really 'easy' to do .............. don't use oven laughinglaughinglaughing sorry couldn't resist.

It never bothered me back when I had to do all that cleaning ever time we moved, I think I married into it so young I just accepted it as normal.

The wives now have a different attitude to it, my DIL just gets someone in to do all the cleaning once they have had the packers in while they live in a hotel.

We used to do all our own packing, everything into wooden boxes screwed down and collected 3 weeks prior to a move. Which gave you 3 weeks to clean wink how they expected you to do that without the equipment never crossed their minds.

    Happy Christmas.

We watched the Carol service at Kings on BBC tv from 5.45p.m. to 7 p.m. and then I felt sleepy so went to bed. I woke up at 1 a.m. and had tea with cheese and biscuits. By 3.15 a.m. I felt sleepy again and so went back to bed and slept through until 7 a.m. So I think I've had enough sleep to bring in Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas Malcolm. Weather should be alright for a circuit of the harbour to work up an appetite for lunch. We are off for short walk in Sherwood Forest, when it's light enough.😀

Yes we've yet to do the walk, SteveL. At the moment the oven is pre-heating and the turkey about to go into it.

We watched BBC breakfast this morning followed by some of the Snow Queen. Now getting a short break from the tv before the carol service later. BBC seems to have been the best on offer so far with the advantage that the programmes are not constantly interrupted by commercial breaks!

The sage and onion stuffing is being prepared and the pigs in blankets will go in half an hour before the turkey is ready.

Anyhow, the shortest day is over so lighter and brighter days will surely come soon now!

Happy Christmas to everyone. We have been up since 6.00am😲😲. The grandchildren couldn't be kept in bed any longer. They opened their presents from Santa and then it was off to church. There is always a lovely interdenominational service in a beautiful little redundant church on the local estate.  They just have services there on special occasions. The fire is now lit and bacon butties on the go. The rest of the present opening is yet to come. Have a wonderful day everyone. 🎄🎁🍷🍸

Christmas Greetings to all. Just come back from our beach walk, went to see the traditional Christmas  Day Dip here in Bournemouth, 815 brave people in fancy Christmas dress running into the sea, all in aid of the McMillan Charity, was a great atmosphere, not too windy. Enjoy your Sprouts everyone.
