Lovely bright but chilly day in North Norfolk.  Went to RSPB Titchwell, had a long walk through the reserve to the beach and towards Blakeney.  Called in at Sunny Hunny (Hunstanton) for fuel and supplies. Cosy in the van for an evening of reading, scrabble and music.

Wow not showing that to my OH 😲😲😲.

Much more like Tammygirl. Hated him being away or late duties, but I'd go to bed as Tammygirl says knowing he was very capable and yes I awoke as the car pulled onto the drive or front door opened at the latest. Once I knew he was in happy to go back to sleep whilst he took however long necessary to unwind before coming to bed. He's big enough and capable enough to remove his shoes and long may that continue - I fear that one day that maybe necessary, and possible more, but I sincerely hope not.

Very dull and cold here. We spent  an hour tidying up the garden, mainly vacuuming up the leaves. Made it look a lot better. Then for a walk in the local forest. The Forestry Commision had started selling Christmas trees this weekend. Seems a bit early to me, even the durable Nordman Fir would be looking a bit sad by Christmas Day. Even stranger, they are only selling them until the 10th December this year, still two weeks before. We don't usually buy until the middle of December, so just as well we spotted the signs.

Hoping the repair on the toilet cistern will work. Needs 24 hours to ensure sealant has set 😉 before refilling. Who puts a metal that rusts in a wet environment? Obviously the makers of our toilet thought it was acceptable! It's the bolt that holds the cistern to the bowl apparently. But any fixing has resealant reapplied generously. If we have to choice another toilet,  we'll not chose the syphon system again!

Been a beautiful cold late autumn day here.

Just back from a very enjoyable few days away at Cirencester - the last trip out in the van for 2017. So now it's time to give it a good clean down, inside and out, and off to hibernation until maybe March 2018. Before then we've got to pack in a few trips down to Cornwall and then one to warmer climes at the end of January to celebrate that nice Mr Philip Hammond allowing me into the club which he donates money to each month - such a nice man! sealed

Glad you had a nice time away M.

Not sure if you've already said but is your January trip by any chance Costa Rica ? I know you said Mrs M was looking at brochures.

Well remembered, TG! Yes we're off to Costa Rica at the end of January, Mrs M found a really interesting looking tour, taking in both coasts, plus a few nights in lodges in the centre of the country. Really looking forward to it! smile

We feared we may have another one. Saw what we thought was a new a calling card, but not seen any other evidence so hopefully it was a poo we'd missed 😉

Reasonable day today, cold but sunny.

DD's last cupboard door finally arrived from Ikea this morning at 9 am, undamaged, so we were down at her house with it  by 10 and got it prepared with handle and hinges and installed without delay.

Then I did the first coat on the walls in the nursery....it's very blue!  After lunch she had a few small jobs for me, electrical stuff and touching up paint in other areas while she and OH did more unpacking and putting away of stuff, all boxes now empty.

Empties were put in the loft along with a few other bits and pieces, and she has a pile of stuff for the charity shop, we will deal with that next weekend.  She can now see the floor in the spare room again.

Now her husband has to unpack all his stuff so she can see if they need any more new cupboards.

She has a pile of baby stuff from her brother and some friends to sort through, decide what to keep, arrange it in sizes, plus next Sunday we are all going to his place so she can pick up the pram etc they had kept for her.

The nursery will need a second coat of paint, so I will do that on Tuesday so she has somewhere to put all the stuff, then we need to clear out our loft to see what we can contribute.

At this rate, the only things they will need to buy are nappies!

KjellNN is the wall colour a clue to what's expected 😉. Great news that she isn't too proud to use pre-loved items our daughter wasn't, the babies are in things for such a short time! If nappies are the only required expenditure that'll be a huge saving, that can be swallowed up at a later date 😲😂

Still have the cot and early toys - ever hopeful 😉 but wasn't economical to ship over!

Yes, indeed!  They had some special blood tests at 10/12 weeks to check all was OK and one of the benefits is that they can tell whether it is a girl or a boy.

They are more than happy to have pre-loved items, and no doubt they will get plenty of presents too, the in-laws have a very large circle of friends!

The only thing they plan to buy at first is a rocking crib so he can sleep beside their bed, and a chest of drawers unless they get given one.

They will get our other grandchildren's cot bed, folding pram thing, no doubt other stuff, plus we have our son's cot and our daughter's pram, high chair and push chair in the loft, plus pretty much all the toys our two had, looking forward to emptying the loft!

We will keep the cot, pram and high chair here most likely, so he can use them here as we will be doing a fair bit of childcare by the sound of things.  DD will be returning to work and a nursery place seems to be about £50 per day, if you can get one!  Some places have a 2 year waiting list apparently.

We've got up to a rather wet, grey and windy morning here. It was windy in the night too but I slept through most of it and the awning survived it!

Working again tonight 18:00 to 22:00. Hopefully the wind and rain will have subsided by then!

Baby clothes and equipment have been passed around our family (8 grandchildren) and children's clothes are still being passed around, some of them have come from our daughter's best friend's 2 children who are slightly older.  I think it is such a good idea as it would be such a waste to just throw away perfectly good clothes and equipment and saves a lot of money.  We finally got round to getting rid of all the baby equipment and toys that were in our house a couple of years ago as we have been told that there will be no more grandchildren.  I advertised most of it on freecycle and it all went very quickly - most to very grateful grandparents.

Good news on Arbuthnot Bakers2. He sounds as though he is going to be a healthy little hoglet.

We finally got to see Paddington2 with 2 of the grandchildren yesterday.  Such a wonderful film. We all loved it.  I would recommend it to anyone with or without children.  As we were all coming out we bumped into one of our older grand-daughters in the foyer who was there with a friend so that was a nice surprise.

That goes before a fall 😉.

Just hoping it'll last. I'm sure it will but.......

Don't want to be choosing things before Christmas and weeks before an extended absence! Hopefully not at all 😐 cos it's in the bathroom and everything must match implications for tiling and flooring......

Sunny today, having a bit of a day off.

Sanded the new drawer fronts and the worktop, able to do them outside as it was dry, so have now handed them over to OH for treating with Danish Oil, a slow process as several coats will be needed, no doubt I will need to do more sanding too.

Off now for a couple of hours at my woodturning club.

Distant daughter of neighbour just turned up to reclaim keys from us. Taken her 2 days to drive down from the Northern Isles, not a pleasant trip.

Busy week this week, off to visit distant relatives.

I'm told that today is the warmest of this week. Ha! Give me cold with sun any day.

Have Coq au Vin in the oven for tea. Ages since I made one but smell now invading house and making me hungry.

Bakers - Arbuthnot? Eh? Where did that come from? Glad to hear it's going well with the little fella.
