Cold  but  not  too  cold  here  in  Cheshire,  possibly due  to ME!!surprisedinnocent.

Had  a  spare  half  hour  yesterday  and  put  it  to  good  use,  setting  up  all  my  Cold Weather Systems  --  a  guaranteed  method  of  pushing  the  temperatures  back  up  a  notch  or  three  laughing !!

May/June is a great time to walk Sheringham Park when all the rhododendrons are in bloom

Done that ,the colours are good also this time of year, including the late flowering rhododenrons out now, they are now trying to clear out a lot of the more invasive varieties, and as the squirrels are very prolific it also gives Rosa a good workout

No frost in N. Ireland this morning. After a brilliant sunny 5 days (typical as I forgot to take my sunglasses 😕) it was slightly drizzly. However when we got back to East Midlands airport we were told it had been a very frosty morning. Brilliant sunshine this afternoon. Had such a lovely time with son, DIL and grandchildren. Son and DIL went off to Belfast overnight on Sat so we were left on our own with the grandchildren. We had great fun 😊Hopefully back to see them all sometime over Christmas/New Year.

The logistics of all this seem inordinately tedious.

After a lovely bright sunny day yesterday the sky stayed clear and by 10:00 last night the windscreen on the car was frozen up. The fields weren't as white this morning as they'd been when we had the first frost of the year last week, and it soon disappeared in the sunshine. We had another walk up on Cleeve Hill and it wasn't as cold in the wind up there as yesterday. Still plenty of golfers and dog walkers about today. This is our last night at Pardon Hill before heading further north to Penley.

I don't think we had frost here this morning, but we weren't up early this morning.  Weather has taken a turn for the colder but still quite bright.  It's all downhill now until 21st December - then the dark nights gradually become less.  Hate long nights.

The  sad  bit  tho',  David  , is  that  it  normally  gets  colder  as  it  gets  lighter  --  I  think  it's  so  we  can  see  the  icicles,  snow  banks  etc  more  clearly  frown !

Does that mean that the Shogun Battery will be left to go flat?

Yes, that's right.  But I think I prefer longer days irrespective of the temperature.  Just my personal view - don't like the long dark nights.

Me too. Cold and bright so much better than grey dismal and damp. The long nights are horrible but I love the light evenings which is our consolation in the summer 😉

I hope not because we need to visit my cousin in a couple of days time to collect our mail. Then we can give the Shogun a run to visit WWT Arundel for an afternoon out.

We had excellent weather all day for our move. We arrived at Lancing Fruit Farm at 11:30 a.m. Luckily, the site owner was there doing some work on the field, so he helped to steer us away from the boggier parts of the field into a patch of land that was relatively drier.

We unhitched and tried at first to reverse on to our pitch using the motor mover but the wheels wouldn't grip and just spun in the mud, so he suggested we hitch up again and use the lowest setting of the four wheel drive. That worked fine and we were able to reverse on to our pitch.

After that, we got the awning erected, taking advantage of the warm sunshine, to get the Shogun unloaded and all the outside jobs done before sunset. Then we drive the Shogun to my cousin's place to park on the street outside and swap over to the Smart car. Next we drove to Tesco Extra filled up fuel and did some shopping before returning to Lancing Fruit Farm.

Luckily, Monday was a day off from work which gave us plenty of time to get settled into our new location. I'll be working Tuesday evening and then two days off for Wednesday and Thursday. Then back on for Friday and Saturday evening with a day off for Sunday. I now only have to travel less than a mile to get to work!

    Thanks, R2B!

£12 a night including EHU, so £1 a night cheaper than last years Charmill Cottage site.

It's good that the site owner helped us because he was able to tell us to avoid the bit in the middle of the field which he said even a four wheel drive would get stuck! We're pitched on slightly higher ground where the water has drained a bit. It's still a bit muddy but not overly so. We've both got Wellies so I guess we'll cope somehow!

That's great service you're getting, wish ours was as good. Scotland used to have a great service but lately its not meeting its targets.

OH has been under a consultant for the last year for his shoulder, he has had 2 cortisone injections but they are not fixing the problem so its now surgery.

He received a letter saying his Guarantee op date will be early January, he has to go tomorrow for pre op checks but they have told him that he won't get his Guarantee date as they are behind with surgery yell why bother to send out a date if they know they are not going to meet it. They are saying realistically it will be more like March/April, so why is he having pre op checks 5 - 6 months before, crazy as they will almost certainly have to do them again, just a waste of everyone's time and the NHS resources. Rant over, I do think the NHS does well by the way just some of these stupid departments get my goat.

Well I'm glad someone is enjoying some dry weather. Woke up to rain but fortunately it has now reduced to a mere deluge.Looking up "Boatbuilding for Dummies".smile

Anyway gave me time to sort out insurance for both household and caravan. Once again had to ring household insurers to get them to reduce their price to that quoted to new customers via a comparison website. Did it last year when the difference was nearly £100, this years only £20 but better than nothing. There were cheaper alternatives but didn't like some of the terms and as I'm quite happy with the conditions of existing insurer decided to leave it with them.

Have decided to hang the wall units first, so now everything is prepared I have requested some help with the lifting from my son-in-law, hopefully he can come this evening.

The units are not particularly heavy, but the size makes it a little tricky to easily locate them on the support rail without a second pair of arms.

Not a bad day here, reasonably sunny off and on.  Drawer kits for OH's next kitchen project have arrived, so that will keep me busy for a while longer!

Wet, cold and miserable here today. I was on duty welcoming at the Cathedral this morning - visitor numbers dropping off a bit now.  We had a party from Plymouth this morning.  They had come up for the Thursford Christmas show and went to Coventry yesterday then Peterborough this morning and Thursford this evening.  Quite a trek for a party of fairly elderly people. Did an Aldi shop this afternoon as the fridge was bare as we had been in N.Ireland since last week.

Additional kitchen wall units now in place, DD came to help as they were not heavy.  It turned out to be quite easy in the end , but not a one person job with the 80cm wide  units.  Smaller ones would be easy for one person.

The units look huge as we are not used to having anything on that wall, once the base units are in place they will look better!

Hopefully it will be mainly completed by the weekend.
