Arrived home at 1130 last night, journey uneventful apart from a car that had flipped on the A11 (no hold up), blew the horn as we went by Dianne T house just to let her and OH we were about lollaughing.  Now getting ready to babysit the grandtwins whilst mummy and daddy are at a wedding.

Tell me about it! I had to do deliveries in it yesterday evening! I had a job holding on to the pizzas! The wind nearly blew me over too!

Been to visit our son and family, found him languishing in bed as when he tried to get up this morning he immediately felt sick.  Rest of the family seemed OK.

Later on he felt a little better and was able to sit up in bed, so he decided to get dressed and come downstairs.  However he soon started feeling bad again, so had to return to bed.

If he is not better tomorrow his wife will be calling the doctor!

Seems to be a lot of bugs going around.

It was certainly a windy last night of our holiday, wind changed direction so could feel the van rock in the gusts. Journey home was good, no hold ups although a bit breezy in places. Weather sunshine and showers all the way,  lost count of the number of rainbows we saw.

Managed to get the van emptied, ready to return to storage in the morning, next trip isn't until December.

KjellNN,  hope your son feels better soon.

Good luck with the decorating trellis.

Lucky you to see the flying Scotsman for the cost of a platform ticket, so close to your home!

Was it in steam though? Always think that's the difference between a museum piece and a live machine!

The break we had was varied. the Monday saw that weird light with a red sun. parked on site in time to hear Steve Wright on Radio 2 announce that lighting up time was 6.45 pm. This at a time that due to the weird weather all the site lighting had come on at 2.00pm!

I love the sound of geese at Powburn, and the other wildlife on site, I think its a sound of autumn for me!

Was up at the boat club today gosh it was windy, so helped a friend dismantle his boat. Result I think I am on the way to buying a boat!

You have my sympathies, I am in painting mode too and my arms are not enjoying it!

I have 4 rooms to do for my daughter, plus our kitchen at home, fortunately none of the areas in question are huge.  I have done one coat in one room but have been informed it needs a second coat, I can sense this is all going to take longer than I thought!

We've got up to a rather grey, gloomy and wet morning here on Northbrook Farm. The ground outside is soggy too. Luckily the Smart car didn't get stuck in the mud yesterday when leaving for work.

No Robsail Flying Scotsman wasn't in steam as it had broken down and is being repaired.  It goes through Peterborough periodically in full steam as we are on the mainline.  I am glad you enjoyed your break. Let us know whether you do buy a boat next year.

Final day here in France, sorry that should be Malta winklaughing there are so many French folk here it feels like France. Last time we were here never heard a French voice at all, I wonder if now they no longer go to Morocco and Tunisia they all come here undecided

We've had good weather all week though we were warned of a thunderstorm it didn't happen, about 3 drops of rain and that was it. Temperature has been better than we thought, some days 23-24c while other's 26-27c the sea is still warm enough for swimming in.

It's been busy with lots of teenagers and younger children, both in the hotel and on the island in general. Seems to be half term across Europe.

Evening flight so a day of hanging around, going to see the family later but don't want to go too early as they are busy packing up their apartment, as they fly home on Thursday early morning. They have enjoyed their time in Malta but I'm sure they are looking forward to being back in the UK.

Glad you all survived the storm.

Another wet day here.  Day off painting, working on installing an extra socket in our kitchen and have started the installation of the new plinth radiator.

Picked up some good, free white faced chipboard at Ikea on Saturday from which to make the new plinth, going to buy the new units from Ikea tomorrow.  As we need a decent height of plinth for the new appliance, there will be some modifications to be done to the base units.

Glad you enjoyed your visit and hope the family settle in well when they return.

Not the best of days here but doing a bit of gardening and then going down to Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Gardens as twilight falls to see the "Enchanted Gardens Illuminations" looks like the only dry evening ahead so will make the most of it. Will have our tea there, nice café, so no cooking tonight.

Found something interesting whilst clearing out garden stuff, will try and post a pic in "What have you seen" later. smile

I love Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Gardens brue.  I have a cousin who lives near there.  We have also had a meal there with them.  Have a lovely time.  The illuminations sound wonderful.

Glad you have had a good time in Malta Tammygirl.  I didn't realise your son and his family were only there for a short while. I hope they all settle in well back in the UK.

    Have to carry alternative heating.

Triky, just take a bottle of brandy or whisky for internal heating, then if it doesn't keep the cold out you probably won't notice.smile

Bad day yesterday for Mrs.WN. Half of a tooth came out, then last night a bit more popped out leaving a nasty jagged piece. We are due to see Dentist tomorrow for 6 monthly check ups so the dentist will probably extract the rest then.

Have had to rearrange eating arrangements, so baked apple and custard for her tonight and a large Southern Comfort methinks.

We carry  a small 2kw fan heater as back up, came into its own last May, when the Alde sprung a leak, 3000 feet up in the Black Forest where it was below zero overnight.

As you may already know the cc have no need to do loss leaders to entice some to sites just to  try  to increase profits for share holders wink

We do the same. In our case used along with Alde on initial warm up in December sometimes if temperatures are very low. Not used last December as we arrived just after 12 O'Clock, pitched, heating on and went to nearby Morrisons for lunch and some shopping.

Used on our last trip when Alde pump bearing became noisy in header tank for last 2 weeks of our September break.

Had a repair to do on caravan. Parts £1.30 for 8 brackets from China although only needed one. However to get into a tight space bought a Bosh Screwdriver with both offset drive and right angled attachment. Impossible without for me. That was £66 but as my previous 15 year old electric screwdriver was shot I was not upset.

Not a good start to the day, Didn't wake up until 8.15 this morning surprised bit late. Hair dryer packed up cry so bad hair day laughing Very busy at work so much to catch up with. Caravan went back to storage,  it needs a wash but that will have to wait. Off out tonight catch up at the pub.

Eldest son calling round tomorrow after he's dropped his girlfriend at the airport looking forward to a catch up with him.
