If your ferry arrival at Santander is at 1730  or 1815 - and bearing in mind it may be delayed by a few hours - you may want to book the first overnight at the nearest site which is Cabo Mayor, but if you have shrewdly opted for a ferry arriving earlier then you will have more choices.

The Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park made a big impression long ago, and is not far off a route from Santander to Roses. I was not looking for campsites then but Camping Oto at Broto looks to be well situated for a visit.

There's a site within 6 miles of where you dock at Santander - 10 miles if you go via the motorway rather than drive across the town.    It's a welcome stop if I arrive in Santander on a Saturday night in the dark with it probably raining.   The site is Virgen del Mar and you can read a revue of the site in my blog

Can't help on sites Santander to Roses.  However, in Sep our ferry was 3 hours late so we arrived in Santander at about 21.45; luckily we were one of the first to disembark and arrived at Cabo Mayor at 22.20.  The reception was due to close at 22.30 but they were aware of the late arrival and were going to stay open later.  Lot to be said for staying that first night at a site near the ferry port - just in case.  Cabo Mayor is ok for a night or so; understand it does not take dogs nor is it the cheapest.
