Tammygirl lovely to know moving your mum was the right decision, you can never be sure until it's happened. My uncle, my late aunts husband and a really lovely man, chose to move from his large home in London a couple of years after loosing my aunt but due to refurbishment couldn't get into The Chelsea Pensioners after waiting so opted to move back to his native Lancashire and his nephews choose a VERY nice retirement home at Lytham St Anne's (which he checked out on the internet hes kept up with technology) and after a shaky start, he was 87 and worried there wasn't enough to fill the hours, reckons it's a great move and he's very happy! Like you I'm happy when we say goodbye these days be that in person or on the phone.
At least you now have an idea of dates for yourOH's shoulder op so can plan around. Good on you for booking Nerja. Have a great time with the family in Malta. I'm sure garden in April and May will be lovely answer you'll get some pleasant spring surprises.

Well it's been a funny busy sort of week with nothing much achieved and I've no idea why 😲😲.
Today's been very grey and rather warm I hope that the forecast heatwave is going to be sunny! Walked into town for an appointment wearing a just a cotton shirt and was too hot walking! Finally managed to book a few nights away for next week on a new to us local CL.
A site we have used before about 10 years ago has gone from being a CS site to a small site hasn't replied despite a promise on their answerphone that they would within 24 hours. Our telephone was engaged with a long call, a couple of hours 😲😲 and I felt 9.30pm was too late to phone them in case heyday tried to get us so left it until 8.15 this morning, also emailed by still heard nothing! One has to wonder about customer service or wanting business.

Not too bad a day near Taunton after a dull start. We even had sunshine this afternoon as we walked along the Bridgewater Canal. Spent the morning walking round the Landscape Gardens at Hestercombe and then after lunch round the formal gardens and through the house. Well worth a visit, especially for those who are members of HHA.

Well made it to Cornwall this morning, good journey down to CL near Highbridge yesterday and the rest of the way this morning. Site WiFi seems to be working ☺ Just deciding whether to risk putting the awning up, going to get a bit blowy apparently 😨

We arrived here on site at 1.20 we stopped at Dandy Dinmont site at Carlisle last night last night on the way down. The drive down to Carlisle yesterday was terrible heavy rain all the way then last night a motorhome turned up on site and got stuck on the grass so had to get towed off by a tractor. The drive here today was much better although it was very foggy around the Lakes. Lovely weather here now so we are going to sit outside and make dinner on the Cadac possibly the last time we use it this year.

Hope you have a good time, Helen. The wind is due to blow through your way quite soon tomorrow. Looks potentially damaging so you may find your awning beats you home if you put it up.

Not sure if this should be in pointless (as I've never going to do it again) but I tried today something I won't probably ever use.
My new car has a park assist function, it actually steers the car into a parking place. Up to now (a few weeks) I've been too scared to try it out for real but today parked up in a garden centre they had some parallel parking bays with fencing at each end and one side, each bay had a different type they sold. I though well it's only wood I'll give it a go.
WOW, it works, all you have to do is press the accelerator (in my case very very very) gently. Like I said I don't think I'll use it for real but I'm so impressed. I did it a few times
Found this youtube clip that's quite entertaining when I was doing my homework https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_172x6U0mFQ It's on a Santa Fe but that's the sister of the Kia
As anyone else used one? also do motor homes have them?

My new Volvo V90r has that parking facility too, BUT ,like you I've been afraid to let it DO It .Must try one day !!.

The technology is amazing. Something I would never have thought I would a car do that and even could ever happen. But like you I keep thinking of a possible software error.

Well did you put the awning up? If you did I hope you've got it well anchored. Watched the weather forecast tonight and I thought the wind arrows almost looked like a snowflake 😲😲. Mind you it was forecast to be hot, we had warm, sunny possible high cloud, we had thick grey all day apart from a couple of hours so you maybe ok.

There's a yellow weather warning of wind for Cornwall on Monday.
It probably depends where you are, H&T, but I wouldn't risk the awning at St Agnes Beacon.

Today we have been at DD's house all day. Helped her pack up stuff in her study, took the furniture that is going to the BHF shop downstairs, she has arranged they will collect in Tuesday.
Moved all her stuff and desk out ready for extra sockets and painting, so I have my list of things to do while she is away. Well, OH has the list, I just do as requested!
Dismantled and took her sofa bed back here, now need to make a space for it in the "library" !

Looking forward to meeting up again too. ☺

Glad that you got down safe and well, H&T. I think you' best wait a couple of days before putting up the awing, as the storm's due to have passed through by then.

I had a puncture in the Smart car whilst at work doing deliveries so waiting for Green Flag rescue. There's no spare tyre so it will be a recovery back to the Club site.

Have a safe journey home Oneputt. Not very nice weather here, dull is the word.
Hope Helen and Moulesy enjoy their meet up, lots of beach space for the dogs to have a run around in that part of Cornwall.
Will be busy with visitors here.

Bit dull here too at the moment Brue, no wind to blow the cloud away, but its the lull before the storm. 😉 Poor dog is a bit lame at the moment wasn't impressed at being kept on a lead on the beach yesterday.
Safe trip home Oneputt. Have a nice day Brue.

Just finished breakfast and catch up on here. A bit more gathering to do for our local trip out today, North of the county new to us CL. Arrivals from 11am. No chance of that ever 😂😂.
Beautiful start to the day here but shows how autumnal it is 😢. We had that heavy grey cloud yesterday.
Enjoy your stays folks, safe journeys to those travelling and I hope everyone stays safe in the winds when they arrive.
Sad to hear about the dog helenandtrevor but I'm trying to work out how it caused by being on the lead on the beach? Might just be me 😉

Ours also has a Breakdown Service but when I tried using the phone number given on the drivers side car door, it said number unavailable. The manual was in the caravan so I couldn't check for another number.
Green Flag used their recovery service to get me and the car back to the club site. It was after 11 p.m. by the time I got back.
This morning I looked it up and found another number. They were here within one hour. They took me to National Tyres in Bognor Regis where a new tyre was fitted.
Green Flag Recovery cost me £108 and the new tyre fitted this morning was £74.

Lovely weather here again today this feels more like a summer break rather than an October trip away. I went out a lovely 14 mile cycle this morning along a canal tow parh very scenic route. If the weather stays like this it will be pizzas on the Cadac tonight.

Corners, Triky embrace technology .It wouldn't have been that many years ago that you would have been burned at the stake for witchcraft for having a vehicle capable of doing that 😀😀. Probably still would be in some parts of the country.😂 .

I am trying to catch up on here after our trip to Houghton Mill. It has been a really busy couple of days since we got back. Emptying the van and getting it ready for it's winter lay up, looking after grandchildren, and a visit to our local theatre. We had a lovely time away. The site was quite quiet as they close in 10 days for the winter. The lovely wardens have left and the job is up for grabs if anyone is interested. We shall see what next year brings. The weather was fine, dry (most of the time), warm but mostly cloudy. We had some lovely walks by the river and across the fields but didn't see the alpacas this time. We took the guided bus into Cambridge one day - very quick and efficient (and free for us). We went to the Fitzwilliam Museum and as a bonus we fund that there was a Degas exhibition (free!) I love Degas. We also had a potter around St. Ives and also Ely. I am pleased that your Mum has settled well into her new home Tammygirl. It must be relief for you. I hope you have a lovely time in Malta with your son and his family. Sorry to hear about your friend Brue. I hope you have a good time away Bakers2 and that the windy weather doesn't affect you. I also hope you have a good time in Cornwall HelenandTrevor and that the awning stays up. Please say hello to the Moulesys from us. Glad your trip is going well Nellie. The weather here is very strange - warm but cloudy and windy. Not exactly the heat wave that was promised. Stay safe everyone who is travelling and away.
