Thanks for the link, brue. Might be something to do should we return. Thanks too to you taffyY. Another spot to look out for. The Shipman's house appears to be at Dinas Powys, and Porthkerry Leisure Park was where Dave lived.

Sunny here earlier, did some gardening and broke the garden vac.  It is so old, parts are not available, so seems we will need a new one.  Will wait till next spring I think.

Rain started around 1pm, so now off to pick up tiles for DD and mend her broken bed frame.

We had a disastrous day yesterday! We were driving along the A27 on our way to the site at Cirencester when the lights started flashing on and off on the dashboard and the engine started losing power until the lights went out altogether and the speedometer and fuel guage weren't working. We pulled into a layby and rang Mayday Green Flag.

They arrived an hour later and found the problem to be the alternator. They said we would not be able to complete our journey and decided to use their recovery service to get the car to Mitsubishi service in Brighton. They dropped us off at the Worthing site to collect our Smart car whilst taking the car and caravan. They then dropped off the car at Mitsubishi and brought the caravan to the site in Brighton after I had made the necessary phone calls to cancel Cirencester and re book Brighton club site.

We also had to cancel the booking for the fridge repairs because of no tow car to get the caravan to Chipping Sodbury.

This morning the Mitsubishi service rang me to say that they have mislaid the keys, so they came to collect a spare key from us. Later they phoned to say it was the belt for the alternator that needed replacing. It will be done today and ready tomorrow morning.

Unless they can  come up with the missing keys, I would be asking them to fit new locks and provide the correct number of sets of keys.

Garages usually put your name or reg number on the keys when they  get them, anyone finding them would have little problem locating and stealing the car.

They said they would provide new keys if they couldn't eventually locate them.

Yes, I did worry about that. They've not said anything about changing the locks. I asked if the rescue service had given them the keys and they said they definitely received them with the car.

If a new key and the existing one can be recoded and the car too, so that the missing key would no longer work,  then that is a possible solution.

But if there is only basic security re the keys and locks, I would be asking for new locks.

Hi everyone.  It seems ages since I've been on this particular thread, and I know some of you good folk are very at home Here, so just popped in to say hello.  The thread moves very quickly for me and I have real difficulty in keeping up.

Just having a few days away at Blackpool South.  Not been to Blackpool for years.  Spent yesterday at St Anne's and driving up towards Lancaster.  Today we've visited some of the countryside close to Preston.  Only been into Blackpool once, to get Fish and Chips just after arriving on Sunday evening.  Off home tomorrow.

    Hope all are well.

    Nice one ABM.

Have a safe journey home  David.

On day 3 of my lightening trip to Germany.  Took my brother to see a house in Munster (Lager) we lived in back in 1956, the exterior hadnt changed at all.  A couple of scoops with campsite owner this evening, most convivial.

Our last night in Wales on this trip. Tomorrow we head down to a CL near Taunton. A rather wet drizzly morning but we had good day out today at Caerphilly Castle, what a place!! Called in at the M&S superstore at Ely where OH picked up a couple of bargains.

Knowing your love for cheese and your sense of humour I thought good one ABM.  Checked out the BBC news and find this really happened at the village where our son lives hahahahahaha.  Obviously weight checks on all types of vehicles.

Repair to DD's bed successfully completed......the metal bracket that held one end of the central beam supporting the slats had cracked......easier to the new bracket than  she had expected.

Tiles for her utility room picked up, seems we did order the correct  colour!

Tomorrow we will see if we can find the trim she wants from B&Q.

We have just watched the morning entertainment on the one way system towards the barriers,of a motor caravan attaching its trailer then load the car on the trailer which so far has taken over 40mins,it has ended up with any departures having go the the wrong way and to get the wardens to open entrance barrier, surprised
