Back home after a few days exploring Christchurch and the new forest, just trying to sort out washing and catch up with things at home. smile

All the best, HD. Nice that you were able to explore the New Forest H&T. Also nice to see people posting on here again. Many of the posts that should have been on here were appearing on the pointless thread!

Scratting apples and pressing them for gallons of fresh apple juice. Much of it will be given away to neighbours, friends, family and acquaintances but some will be frozen in bottles or pasteurised to ensure a continuous supply through the year.

We went shopping in Worthing town centre this morning and this afternoon went to visit a herbal medicine shop in Rustington. After that, we went to Tesco Extra to look for some new shoes. I found a pair, my size, that was reduced from £25 to £14. So I bought them along with some accessories and some non-prescription medicine from the pharmacy which was needed by my wife. Total expenditure £21 paid by Tesco debit card for double points, so 42 more points added. Now my points balance is over £17 worth of vouchers.

Now that it's October, we're a little bit more limited in places open to visit with HHA. However, WWT is open all year, so with winter approaching we may be visiting WWT more often and less to visit with NT and English Heritage. The more famous properties like Dover Castle are still open but it's a long journey to get to them.

The weather was awful when we got up this morning but seems to be clearing. There's now some blue sky and sunshine, so the possibility of a picnic lunch at WWT. My wife's busy preparing it as I type this. This should give the Shogun enough of a run to keep the battery charged. We're not sure whether by the time we get there, the picnic benches will be dry enough to sit on but if not, then there are plenty of Hides with dry seats to sit on!

Had  My  blood  taken  for  6-monthly  Diabetic  check-up  and  have  a  memento  on  each  arm  as  a  result  --  I  think  the  Impaler  had  had  a  bad  night,  cos  I've  ended  up  with  three ( 3 )  holes  & bruises  in  my  arms --  just  hope  they  have sealed  ok by  Saturday  'cos  that's  when  they  give  me  my  'flu  jab  &  I  don't  want  it  to  leak  straight  out  again  do  I  ??!!??

Best day weather wise we've had for a while. Had a very pleasant walk at Rhosseli to Worms Head and along the coastal path. Then a successful evening booking more sites for the continuation of our present trip.laughing

Spent some  time  this  evening  adding the  start  of  2  years worth of  piccys  into  a  couple  of  data-bases  on  my  old  computer,  then  I  can  start  the  building  of  a  more  modern  set  of  D/bases  on  this  ere  new  machine,  so  I'll  be  kept  out  of  the  rain  and  cold  and  snow  that  you  lot  of  12 month  tourers  will  suffer.  So  can  you  put  out  a  loud  "OI  YOU"  some  time  near  Easter  please,  just  to  remind  me  of  the  pleasantries  to  come  !!

At  least  tonights  grafting  had  taken  my  mind  off  the  dental  check-up  to come  tomorrow,  dammit  October  is  all  Dental or  medical  appointments  --  probably  with  a  rollicking  at  each  one  as  well.

Oh  Joy,  Oh  Bliss,  Oh  B*********  *********** **********.

So  its  a  light  supper  and  bed,  Take  care  everybody  &  don't  do  anything  I  would(not)  do    winkinnocent

When we visited Tredegar House a couple of weeks ago it was still covered in scaffolding and poly sheeting although they were supposedly about to take it all down as the work is complete.

We had lunch in the caravan before venturing out to WWT. By that time the weather had cleared, the wind had dropped and it turned into a lovely sunny autumn afternoon.

The Shogun started all right, having not been used for 3 days, as we'd been using the Smart car. We went on the boat safari. There was a queue this time and as there were 7 others in the queue before we arrived, we were lucky to get on. Those that were behind us in the queue had to wait half an hour for the next boat.

After that, we spent some time in the Discovery Hide. We saw several flocks of geese and other waders flying over and landing on the water. Next we did the Reedbed Walk before returning to the Visitor Centre. We got back to our caravan just before sunset.

undecided,Recovering !! After yesterdays epic towing of a stricken boat job.Extremely high tides, strong winds blew our tow vessel onto the reed beds in Faversham Creek Ooops ,high and dry  due to an overheating engine cut out !!We had to be lifted off by a local work boat from Iron Wharf Boat Yard .One of our crew had to go back in a dingy last night to continue the tow on high water .Oh well ,,it's all sent to try us !! wink.

Today, we plan to visit High Beeches Woodland and Water Garden, Handcross which is about 40 minutes drive from here. There's a tea room and picnic area there. The tea room is open from 10 a.m. and the gardens from 1 p.m. We'll be taking a picnic lunch with us. We keep the food hot using a food flask.
