Why so many dogs and Inconsiderate owners??

So who's word are the club taking about a someone's dog fouling anywhere on site...someone who dislikes dogs in general or do the wardens have to witness it themselves? I can see a lot of problems arising if it's one persons word against another. Would be good for the club to make this clear.

I have asked the club to clarify the policy for dealing with the owners of fouling dogs seeing we have been enlightened regarding its existence.

We have 2 dogs we dont go away expecting everyone to love our dogs or parade them around the site as some kind of trophy we take them because they are a part of our family . When on the way to the dog walk for them to do their toilet duties if they cant make it we clean it up asap I dont like them doing it in front of someones caravan but when they have to go its difficult to stop. There are lots of things members do that annoy me but i except we are all different and get on with it, if i had my way i would rather spend time around a thousand dogs than a lot of people we see on site dogs are not opinionated they dont judge you by your outfit they dont drink in awnings until the early hours keeping others awake because they are 3 sheets to the wind, they dont kick balls around you caravan etc. we dont impose our dogs on others they dont bark all the time so find something else to complain about and leave dog owners alone . I think if you did a survey you would find that there are more members with dogs than without

On and on and on and on.
The two biggest controversial topics on CT, Dogs and Speeding cause more ill feeling among people that should be friends. Both crop up too frequently for HQ not to notice and yet what do they do. NOTHING. Maybe it's time to vent our anger at them for not taking any action and letting us get back to our leisure time hobby.
So HQ what do you say? If you care for your membership then do something about these issues. If there is no reply then we know where we stand.

This thread is proof if proof were needed that the actions of a very small minority of inconsiderate dog owners can give a bad name for all other owners. As I have stated in the past, none of the dog owning members on CT have ever tried to defend inconsiderate owners.
The OP suggests having a separate area allocated for none dog loving members to pitch, this could be a good idea but then they would have to find something new to moan about.

I tried to fill in a review last week and the last action would have been to tap the submit button.
Only problem--- no button.

This is about as acurate as someone complaining that they had never seen a dog on a lead.
Seems your observation skills are not very good, whatever topic gets posted on this forum, you claim to never having seen it.
Assuming that is correct, you cannot claim that it is either not happening or it is a minority.
From your posts, you seem to abide by the guidance suggested by the club with the exception of accidents, which is almost inevitable. So why deny that there is a problem.
If you pitch up anywhere near the dog walk and waste bin, it is a daily sight to see at least one owner heading towards the designated area already carrying the black bag of waste.

What do you want the Club to do about this? It’s one thing saying the Club should react, but how?
Other than asking wardens to constantly police a site and the dog walk, to catch owners not picking up and patrolling the site with a decimal meter, which is frankly a mad suggestion, what else can be done?
Do sites not have a quiet lights out time? A dog barking during the day, whilst annoying to some, isn’t against any Club rule, just as children can’t be expected to be quite during the day on site. I for one don’t like to hear my dogs barking and they are corrected if making to much noise for no real or apparent reason. I think most owners do the same don’t they?
As I said above, dog owners at a guess, make up the majority of the Club membership and as such, the Club will seek to enforce the existing rules for the general good of everyone but will stop short of applying regimented restrictions to the dog owning membership, because they make up too much of the overall fee paying business.
I can gaurantee one thing, dog owning Club members will never be subjected to restrictions over and above non dog owning members, their business is just too valuable.

Perhaps I have better things to do than to look out for people swinging a sh1tty bag. But I stand by my comments re the mythical dog sh1tting everywhere. Molly certainly manages to get off site or to the dog walk without accident, whether she will continue to do so as she gets older remains to be seen.

I expect the reality is that there is very little difference on this matter between responsible dog owners and non dog owners but as with all things there will be exceptions that cause annoyance. I doubt anyone would defend the person mentioned by WTG which most would think was totally unacceptable and rather weird behaviour. And for that person to complain to the warden is beyond belief? We had a similar situation on an AS site a couple of weeks ago when Margaret gave somebody one of her withering looks as he was about to allow "exercise" his dogs over our pitch. He was going to report us to reception even going to the trouble of taking our pitch number. We heard no more so I assume it was just an empty threat. I think one of the issues on sites of any variety is the use of extending leads and if the rules were changed so that only short leads could be used whilst circumnavigating sites roads with a further instruction not to allow your dog to stray onto other pitches might be a reasonable solution that most could be happy with?

I am not a dog owner but see the situation from both sides. I'm too wise to get involved in the arguement. My post is just my thoughts on trying to stop the bickering over something I feel can only be mediated over by HQ. It is they and they alone that can make changes to the problems taking place on their sites.

Sometimes we have experienced animosity from non dog owners if we have pitched up next to them and they have seen we have dogs, on occasions my first words to them have been "don't worry they won't be a nuisance" which they never are, we shouldn't be made to feel like second class citizens just because we have dogs. If a dog barks and you don't like it speak to the owner we don't bite

Good post and a nice subtle suggestion
Hate those leads, detest them. The owner has no control and they are NOT good for the overall well-being and progressive training of the animal.

Because 'the problem' is voiced on here some like to think it is a nationwide problem, whereas this forum and those who come across the poor behaviour are very few when taking in the whole membership, and HQ knows that.
Then added to this are the vociferous few who like to stoke the fire at every chance they can get.
Short lead only on club sites should be enforced, keeping away from grass areas will probably get you run over by speeding drivers or kids on bikes, but that's another moan.
Don't get me wrong, it does happen and to the person involved it becomes extremely important, but tarring everyone who has a pet with restrictions or charges is not the answer.

Extract from the dogs on sites leaflet -
"Please keep your dog on a lead less than 3m
long at all times when on site (other than in
a designated free roaming area). If tethered
on your pitch, please ensure that your dog
cannot reach the road or your neighbours
pitch.
As not everyone feels comfortable around
dogs, and can sometimes find their
exuberance a little frightening, please try to
discourage excessive barking and anti-social
behaviour so everyone can enjoy the site."

DK has probably come up with the best suggestion all thread! Short leads, metre, metre and a half depending upon breed/size of dog should be used all over the site, other than on Site dog walk, or tethered outside vans. That way owners have proper close control. Might not prevent every dog from pooing, but it should keep Fido away from grass pitches when walking round.
Once saw a horse and rider brought down at a top class 3 day event by an idiot owner allowing dog to extend its lead. It wasn't a pretty sight.

Any respectable dog trainer will never allow extending leads to be used in a class, they detest them too. They don’t allow them even for puppy recall training, preferring a 30ft training line instead
They are the work of the devil! With continued use, a dog will never learn to walk properly at heel and owners then wonder why their dog continually pulls.
I’m all for a short lead rule when walking a dog around a site. It would be progress in a good direction and should limit pitch invasion. Great suggestion David

I hope everyone’s had their dinner...
A couple of years ago, was staying on C&CC Keswick. My eldest, a 7 yr old Springer had eaten something that had seriously upset his tummy. He told me he needed the toilet so I quickly put him on the lead and headed for the site entrance. Unfortunately, Harris didn’t make it. Family enjoying a BBQ outside their van and H dropped his back end and delivered a huge pool of diarrhoea on the site road, right outside the family’s van.
Wanted the earth to swallow me up there and then. Fortunately, the family were really good about it and helped me flush the offending squit to the nearest grid using copious buckets of water.
Every time I’ve visited that site since, and walked past that very spot, I remember that awful afternoon

Having just logged in to catch up on the Forum, I find that this thread is the most prolific for posts. It convinces me that my suspicions that CAMC membership is obsessed with dogs is well founded. The protests of 'non dog' owners is drowned out by many who think it entirely normal to travel with a veritable menagerie. The days of a family pet seem to be over, being replaced by multiple mutts. We do seem to be approaching the situation on sites where humans are outnumbered by dogs. Whether this is a "surrogate children" syndrome I couldn't say. I cannot follow the psychology of dog owners. For my money, they are more bother than they are worth.
Whilst caravanning/motorhoming lends itself to pet ownership perhaps we all need to remember that it is the CAMC, not the Kennel Club.

Each to their own, there will always be those that don’t like dogs, don’t understand why others do and don’t like being near dogs.
Thats life.
