but BT doesnt rank its service to customers as Gold/Silver/Bronze...

it couldnt possibly compete if it told a third of its customers its broadband was 'absolute crap', another third 'moderate' and only a third 'good'....

the club chose to rank its sites based on a realistic (presumably) level of delivery......good/average/poor yet charges the same despite its 'admission' that customers on poor (bronze) sites might get a poor service for their daily/monthly payment....which is the same as a Gold (decent?) site.

having spent the last 10 yrs of my IT 'career' managing 3rd party suppliers of this (and other types) of outsourced service, at least understand that i do know a little about how these are provided, costed and managed.....

perhaps, because of the above, its just that im not prepared to accept 2nd rated service (in most walks of life) especially when its being paid for, that makes me different from you with regard to this sort of thing.

if things arent being delivered to the acceptable standard (the agreed service level) then the customer (CC) and the provider (air angel) need to get their heads together and work out a costed plan to get back on track.

just suggesting the service will always be bad because.......isnt a very positive way of looking at it.

however, as neither OH nor myself will be using it again, it makes no difference to me if they want to sell poor service to their members.

Well the BT I know does tell you the range of speed you can expect before you sign up. Clearly this will be different for the premium infinity service than the standard broadband, as will the cost.

However, within the separate services there is no price difference between someone getting service at the top end of the range and somebody towards the bottom.

So to give some actual examples. On standard broadband we get a download speed of 15 Mbs, on a maximum service quoted at 17Mbs. One of my sons only gets 5Mbs at best, on a maximum service of 7Mbs, but the cost is the same. The only way for him to get a  speed similar to me, would be to pay extra for infinity, currently £5 a month more.

So actually BT does rank it services and will even charge you more, for the same speed someone down the road is getting for less. Simply because they are closer to the exchange.

I thought that many were happy with  wifi on sites with an odd site exception ar weekend.

    I certaiinly am.

Maybe if buying on an individual site basis it would be wise to check by using it free for CC site before buying. If I used Clumber Park regularly I would be happy that wifi was usable except perhaps Friday evening and Saturday evening in preference to no wifi. I Would not be so happy if I paid just for a weekend.

I read of folk occasionally complaining of poor wifi on sites were I have found it to be fine and wonder why. There have been complaints about Southport site. I have used the site regularly in different parts and found wifi good even when site has been busy.

As for value for money: Typically on a non CC site I have been charged £5 for two nights or £15 a week. Whichever I choose as we stay for 5 nights and move it costs £15 for our 5 nights. This has often permitted two devices.  Cost usually 2 or 3 pound a night.

Of the 120 nights that we are away probably at least 80 are on CC sites with wifi. £50 for two of us is about £1.50 a night.

The value depends on how folks holiday. For some a mobille router and pre paid som is a good bet ....... if there is phone reception.

Why should people think Wi-Fi on sites be free? Is your Wi-Fi at home truly free? What is important is, is it good value? For me £25 per year is good for how I use it. Not experienced major problems, but then I am not interested in live streaming or downloading films etc.

I pay £25 for 12 months, this maybe works out around £1 per day which is about the price of a 1/3 of a pint of beer, therefore its not expensive and therefore  is no way that I would expect WiFi to be free.

If it was including the price of a pitch the demand would be so great, we would never get any acceptable speed unless it was mid afternoon.

I, don't download films or live stream, so I'm quite happy, no doubt others will disagree.

We stayed at Red Kite Site in Powys earlier in the year, where WiFi was included in the pitch fee but it wasn't cheap, you only get what you pay for in life, IMHO

so say there is a different charge for Bronze silver and Gold service.

That would be fine for a daily service as I might be at three bronze sites one after the other and pay the bronze fee.

But it wouldn't work for a weekly monthly or yearly price as club members generally use more than one site during a year?

OK so what if I buy a Gold fee for a year? then stop during that year on a bronze site? do I get a refund? or I buy a bronze yearly wi fi, what happens if I stay on a Gold site? Do I have to pay more? or can't access the wifi?

I think the way the club does it now is fair and transparent. It says which sites are bronze silver and gold so you know that the service is not always the best and this is the price. You as a customer decides if you want to pay?

For me £25 per year as said above is worth the risk
