Well I'am glad I'am not the only one to collect conkers for no reason except I like them Collected s few more this morning.
Busy day, walked to Sainsbury's this morning, bit of shopping, and then off to work.Have been trying to sort through the old files, so they can be moved, can't be destroyed yet.
Good to hear holiday going well Millie. Have been sorting our trip next month, looks like if will be Cornwall again.

Decisions decisions triky we've decided on Cornwall.
Glad things ok at your boatyard.

We stayed there in 2015. There are some nice walks along the coastal path there and I remember the warden selling cream teas. You can get the King Harry ferry to visit Trellissick House and Gardens NT. Enjoy your stay there, KjellNN.

Hope that you did well at the show Goldie. After all the rain we've had I bet the ground was a bit of a mud bath. Did the weather hold up for today?

Arrived today on Rosedale, a small commercial site between Ruabon & Whitchurch. Easy drive down from Lancashire. Dry when we hitched up this morning and the wind had dropped too, however it started to rain just as I was setting up, but stopped when the job was done!! Fine afternoon but an odd shower again this evening. Site looks good, mixture of H/S & grass pitches, toilets, showers, dishwashing and info rooms. A real bargain at £12 pn....thanks wherenext for the recommendation.

Did you see Prince Charles there, Goldie?

All those facilities for just £12 per night is avery good deal, NTH. Most sites just give you very basic facilities for that price.

A long day at Westmorland Show yesterday. (I held the fort at home with a dodgy knee and enjoyed peace and quiet and a good book),
There was a strong class of Dairy Shorthorns - report HERE for the really interested. We came away with a couple of firsts in class, four seconds and some lower placings. Plus one cup. The Championship went to a well deserved other cow.
Despite the recent torrential rain the ground stood up well - it's a permament Showfield and the Society have invested in hard roads.
Here's a photo of my husband Henry, son James and grandson Robert. Plus an interested bystander.

Who is the chap on the left, a gentleman farmer perhaps
Congrats to you and your family on their success. All the hard work paid off.
Bright start here in East Norfolk but cool, with a temperature of 8C. No idea whats on the agenda today

Thanks Goldie, you've just answered my question!

We've just had breakfast in the caravan. A lovely sunny morning here but a little chilly. However, our heating is keeping it nice and warm inside the caravan.
One more night here before we're off to Burlington Hotel for our two night break. So no need to order the papers for tomorrow. We'll be too busy to have time to read them.

Well done to the full crew Goldie. Sorry to hear about your dodgy knee. Glad you enjoyed the peace. I do hope you had a relief milker 😉 for the afternoon. Another great photo for the archive.
Jolly chilly start here in Essex 8c and radiators off cold indoors so must have dropped indoors too😲. Someone remind it it's only September! Heavy showers again this afternoon? Seems to have been the pattern everyday this week. No plans so far apart from routine but intend to harass OH to get haircut, been hinting all week but obviously not strong enough 😉, needs to be tidy for our trip out.
Enjoy your day however you spend it.

I do hope you had a relief milker 😉 for the afternoon.
No, my husband came back alone about 4.30 and got on with milking. We have a portable milking machine, and my son milked the in-milk cows down at the showfield. (We know from experience that it's pointless trying to load up and get out into the road when everyone else is, so we bided our time. ) then brought the cows back in two runs. Everyone home by about 7.30.
And enough sandwiches left for a light supper. I have a tendency to over cater. I would be mortified if someone went hungry!

I spent the morning so far reading the papers and I'm now taking a break for a cup of tea. Lunch is being prepared at the moment, my wife's chopping the vegetables as I type! Another hour left to continue reading the papers before lunch will be ready.

My wife's like that too. She spends a lot of time preparing vegetables and cooking because she likes to make sure that there's always plenty to eat! She'll be getting a break from it though this weekend when we stay at the Burlington Hotel and get looked after by the staff there!

Sun in the conservatory is beautiful 27.5c just having a cuppa and catch up. Must get floors vac'd in here in a mo. Will have to open the door first, not enough transference through the open indoor doors 😲.
Got friends round for catch up and natter, their Golden Wedding Anniversary tomorrow so posh biscuits need to be bought as I haven't done any suitable baking hand don't have ingredients in the cupboard. Most embarrassing 😶. Outside only 13.2c.
OH has had haircut 😆 so we are progressing well.
Edit this wasn't posting, re login gets wrong way signs. This is a frustrating site to put it mildly 😤😭

Congratulations Goldie and family on a successful show.
Just been to do the banking, so stopped off for a cuppa, hubby has just arrived home with a new timing belt kit for the Freelander, he's decided it needs changing, better safe than sorry if it breaks. Job will keep him busy,if nothing else.
We are off to a wedding " evening do" later at Dumbleton Hall, so hoping to finish work early to get the glad rags on.
KjellNN, hope you like Merrose Farm site, we were thinking of using the site in October, so would like to know your thoughts.

Forty seven years of feeding farmers.
Sometimes required to perform miracles of the loaves and fishes kind when there's unexpected visitors.
Coping with someone sticking their head round the door, and asking can dinner be ready in five minutes. Or keeping it warm for an hour.
At least for the past seven years I've been at home to manage "portion control" and no one says "I'll just finish this off".
And no daytime naps (that's what we go on holiday once a year for). But it has to be a good television programme to keep Henry awake after supper.

I fell asleep in the relaxer for the last part of the morning and then woke up in time for lunch. I've just finished lunch so now time for another sleep in the relaxer!

No, Davefl2, my hands are in splints which I'm not supposed to get water on them. My wife did the dishes.
Anyhow, my wife woke me up a little while ago to tell me it's time for our afternoon tea of hot chocolate fudge cake to accompany a cup of tea which we had in the awning whilst the warden cut the grass outside, so that there's a neatly trimmed lawn outside our awning to sit out on if it gets warm enough!
Now time to get back into my relaxer and fall asleep once again!

No, I'm not supposed to do too much for at least another two weeks according to the hospital. The doctor said it would take 3 months before my hands were fully back to normal. My wife does everything. She never stops!
Before the accident, I used to help her with the awning but other chores she has always managed herself except driving the car but now that could change once she gets a licence!

My wife would never put up with that!
When in the caravan we share chores, she does most of the serious cooking, but I prepare breakfast most mornings as we rarely have anything cooked, and I can do boiled eggs and scrambled eggs. Lunch, only a sandwich or biscuits and cheese, is a joint effort, I prepare the salad on the days that we have some. Tea or hot chocolate before bedtime is usually my responsibility.
Dish washing is my task when OH has cooked, and her task when I have prepared a meal.
Clothes washing is always down to OH, water, waste and chemical toilet are my tasks.
Awning, when used, is a joint effort as is cleaning inside the van.
At home it is fairly similar, though not as much dishwashing as we have the dishwasher, and OH generally does most of the dishwashing. I am banned from loading the dishwasher as I never do it right, but I am allowed to empty it!
Dusting and hoovering are shared, but OH does the bathrooms.

Now at Merrose and the sun is finally shining.
I got absolutely soaked while packing up to leave Trewethett, had to change my clothes, and they are still not dry!
Trip to here took 2 hours and it is only about 55 miles, arrived about 12.45.......awful weather, huge puddles on the roads, car and van now filthy, a lot of narrow and twisty roads!
On arrival we both got wet again checking in and setting up.
Luckily we have a hardstanding fairly close to the facilities, but there are quite a few outfits on grass, and the grass was very wet earlier.
Had we ended up on grass we would have been cutting short our stay here and booking somewhere else instead.

What a good day today has been. Went to Viking Ltd in Halesworth to get my bino's repaired, the guys there were great and said they would repair today so we went to Minsmere and would pick up on return. We got back to the car and the heavens opened and its bucketed down since. Picked up repaired binos and they were like new, fantastic service and real value for money.

Still in North Norfolk bit of a wild day yesterday very high winds and at high tide the waves wre breaking over the sea defences at Cromer ,we thought the End of Pier show would be cancelled but it was not,but you could feel the theatre "shudder"at times ,it was a good show as usual, Much better day this morning so did Sherringham Park before the really heavy showers came, and learnt something new, that a strain of Rhodedendrans were winter flowering
