Congratulations Cyberyacht. Enjoy your motorhome. That's great news.

We're waiting for the wind and rain to arrive here. All is calm at the moment. I've even lit some candles in case we have a power cut........

Cloudy start to the day but all cleared by late morning, sun came out then it was blue skies all afternoon and early evening. Washing all done  and dry by lunchtime. First day this trip that I've  had shorts on, not been hot due to the strong breeze just right. Cycle ride into town this afternoon, quite a few folk around but lots of shops and restaurants closing up for the season. Seems daft weather good enough for sun bathing and swimming yet the place is closing up.

Bakers, don't  think it's because early autumn, the guides are published a year before so must be changing times. Still plenty open and what are open are at least 50% full.

BB, glad you had some decent weather today enjoy.

Wind is getting stronger and has changed direction a little.  It was almost head on when we pitched up, but now seems to be coming directly  from the side so the van is moving a lot.  Opening the door is difficult.

There has been some heavy rain, but the wind is the main problem.

A lot of noise too, things on the van roof are rattling and the wind is whistling .  Another sleepless night ahead I think!

Great news, CY. Hope that you manage to get everything sorted with the M/H.

Kjell, hope that the weather dies down enough for you to get a peaceful night. It's supposed to be slowly brightening up over the next few days.

We took the car in for it's first service today. All was satisfactory, and they even e-mailed us a Youtube video of part of the inspection that they undertook. We had use of a courtesy car so drove over to Towneley Country Park and had a few walks before picking our car up this evening. The heavy rain that was forecast arrived about 7:00 this evening and we're expecting strong winds later in the night.

It was necessary this morning as it was quite chilly. It was only on for a short while and then switched off when it got warmer. It gets too cramped to sit inside the caravan all the time. I like the feeling of space in the awning and being able to sit in a chair that can recline!

It seems quite windy here too. The wind coupled with the pattering rain on the roof has woken me up now.

My cousin visited us this afternoon and brought the post. There was one from the DVLA for my wife's driving licence application. It contained a form for completion which she has now done and will post back in the morning. Also in the post was my new Tesco debit card so I went shopping with my wife at Tesco this evening to try it out and get double points! So the £40 spend today earned me 80 points. That's 30 points more than what I would have earned using the Tesco Credit card!

We got back in time to watch the two programmes on tv as planned. The first was all about the Isle of Skye with its spectacular scenery. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to visit next year. The next was the BBC2 Travellers Guide to Mars. We watched half of it before feeling too tired to watch the rest. In between we had our evening meal.

No rain and not much wind at Clumber although the NT put up 'park closed due to high winds' signs on access roads.

Glad that you are finally sorted CY and glad I did not report myself to Swansea when I had the suspected TIA that seemingly wasn't

Bright but windy day here on the East Norfolk coast, winds have subsided and gusting occasionally to 51mph.  Stay safe out there folk.

That's one good thing about Clumber ET. All those trees that do such a good job of blocking mobile signals, also do a good job of wind blocking. However, I think we got of lightly in North Notts. The local weather lady was predicting 70 mph in the early hours, but fortunately it did not get anywhere near that. Although a few bins were blown over and rubbish strewn about, as they are out for collection today.

The NT tend to be very proactive in closing the park in anticipated high winds. Probably for the best, a lot of the trees are distinctly geriatric and it is not unusual to see branches down after high winds.

Malcolm have you considered getting a freeview hard disk recorder. Humax is a good make. It comes with twin tuners so you can record and watch another program, or even record two, whilst watching a recording or another program on the TV's own tuner. They start at about £135 with about 300mb disk space, nearer £200 if you want 500mb. You can even use your Tesco points to buy it 😀as they are available from Tesco direct.

It also of couse let's you pause live TV, very useful if you are watching something and cooking at the same time.

I now what you mean, SteveL. Most of the best programmes seem to be between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. and several channels have worthwhile viewing that clash with each other or perhaps compete against each other at peak viewing times. That can be frustrating if there are two programmes you are interested to watch that are on different channels at the same time. What you suggest, would overcome that problem!

Woke to a beautiful day today, sunshine and just a light breeze. Only reason I'm on line is to book our return ferry.

Had some great news yesterday, our son and family in Malta are coming home at the end of October just after we return from visiting them. His firm that he left in the UK we not happy to lose him to Malta and have been trying to win him back ever since. They have been very good about giving him breathing space and supported his reasons for going. They have now made him an offer he can't refuse so he is returning to South Yorks area again. Children back in the school they attended before and his wife has her old job back as well. They are happy that they went to Malta in the first place and have enjoyed it for a year.

Second good news is that our eldest grand child who started boarding school a month ago is loving it. Her parents and brother went up for a flying visit at the weekend to see her,  parents are happy to find all is well. They have been chatting on the phone most days but I think they needed visual proof all is well. The school has 3 Scottish disciplines that all children take part in, playing the bagpipes, Drums or Scottish dancing. Both her dad and uncle were dancers but she has passed the test to learn to play the bagpipes surprised everyone excited about it as its a great honour to be picked, the school band have a very good reputation and travel all over the world.

Well must get off and enjoy this great weather today.

Kj hope last night wasn't to horrendous and you managed to get some kip.

Tammygirl what great news on all fronts. Bet you're feeling on top of the world. At least you get to visit them in Malta so will know where they lived etc. Have you visited them there before? I expect you had tour or trip there over the years. Even the weather cooperating for you.

Breezy here been clear blue 15c but fluffy clouds appearing. 30c in the conservatory with the door open 😲. Lovely for cuppa and sit but will have to do roof blinds in a mo. Shame rest of the house not benefiting even with doors to kitchen and the dining room open. House feels like winter in comparison but 20c so it isn't.

Lots of trimmings from the trees blown from the conifers so a bit of tidying required after the strong winds overnight.

Days been turned upside down. OH had dentist appointment at 6.10pm to remove broken root. Phone call about 9.05 could he go 10am. Yes so dropped and collected him. Changed my hair appointment from 11am to 2pm, but could have kept original. So will just muddle through. Quite happy to enjoy the warmth of the sun through the glass 😆😇.

Hope all those away weren't rocked too badly overnight and they've sustained no damage. Weather warning still has long time to run - I think I heard 6am tomorrow. Stay safe.

Is free view catch up available without subscription? We've never found it but ain't tech savvy. Not heard of this recording device. Not sure we'd bother on our trips but good to know about them.
