It's nothing to do with idleness  ...... it would be completely impractical to block a site entrance with vehicles while people saunter round a caravan site looking for their perfect pitch.

....but this would only happen when everyone 'thinks' they have to arrive at the same time....

i agree, tell everyone the site 'opens' at 12 and thats when most of them will come.....a few will be later and a few trying to steal a march.....

allow folk to come on site when they 'naturally arrive' (in dribs and drabs) will give penty of time to have folk saunter around the site....even if there are two or three vans parked while the sauntering takes place....

IMHO far better than have 20+ vans arrive at the same time which is (to me, obviously...) why there is congestion at 12 o clock....

ill wager loads of pitches will have been free since, say, 11 o clock...

plenty more before 10 o clock, and certainly one or two before 9.

yet these have been standing their doing nothing while some visitors could easily have sheduled their arrival earlier to take up the slack more quietly and efficiently...

however, the rules dictate a long hold up outside the site....

even with two full sites this tour, we havent seen this, and our spanish destination site will be full also, but the 'queue' will never have more than one or two vans there.....as 'pitch slack' is taken up immediately by the next arrival...

ok.....disaster.....each arrival only gets the choice of those pitches available when they arrive, rather than the clubs system of waiting till everyone is cleared out and then release the flood to try for the 'best of these'.....

strict opening time and 'choice of all pitches' together cause the symptoms being discussed in this thread....

until the system changes (never) members will have to put up with (artificially created) queues.....and folk trying to jump themwink

    IMHO, of course....

the queue could even be inside the barrier.....as it is often in other places....

its the 'you must wait outside in the road' bit that obviously causes problems for external traffic flow....

two, three or even four vans, inside the barrier (or two ourptside and two inside, or whatever.....) would see no external issues and a plenty of time to get these folk sited before the next four arrive....

it really does work on even the fullest (and largest) of sites......BUT one has to be able to view the issue from a different perspective....

more of the same will lead to more of the same.....wink
