Eurotunnel
Hallo,
We have travelled to France through the Eurotunnel, but not for the past four years. Can anyone who has taken their caravan through the tunnel recently, let us know how safe the conditions are now,as we get so much negative headlines in the news,so my wife is really concerned about security, especially on the return journey. We wouldn't want to use the ferry because of our small dog,so any advice would be much appreciate
Regards,
.

We are using the tunnel on Sunday. Have booked daytime crossings both ways so we have no worries. Not sure I would travel at night though.

We used the tunnel in July this year both ways in our 7.5 metre MH. No problems whatsoever. We had our Dog with us & it was all so easy. I was a bit worried prior to boarding about driving on to the train with our MH being so long but it was fine & we will deffo use it next time we go to France.

Went out in April of this year and back in July with our dog, it was as straightforward both driving on/off along with security procedures as it has been for us over the past 4 years.
Have never experienced a problem either with migrants or even seen any, but then I always arrive and depart in daylight.
Absolutely nothing to worry about, and our dog is the reason we choose the tunnel, enjoy your trip.

I used the tunnel two years ago and had a total nightmare with 8 hour delays due to the migrant issue. Since then security seems to have Improved. We used it in August this year and didn't have any problems although as we approached Calais on the return there were warning signs flashing to slow you you down saying "pedestrians in the road" which I assume were migrants. Didn't see any though.
What I did see was as we came up from the south west of France, was young African males prowling the service station areas where lorries and caravans were and were clearly illegal migrants. Seems to fit with the news that the latest migrant route is from the Spanish coast. Just need to be vigilant really and wouldn't let it put you off

We returned this June from a month abroad and for the first time at all we were stopped in France by security (soldiers armed with machine guns!) and asked to open the front locker box! Odd to say it was quite exciting! NB they didn't look in the rear washroom which could have housed half a dozen or under the fixed bed - so was rather cursory look.
Apart from that we have never had a problem and never seen any migrants. The French had closed some of the final Aires on the approach to the coast presumably to stop any potential issues. Don't worry.

- Used the tunnel Folkestone to Calais this morning and everything was fine. No probs at all and train was on time. Safety check carried out before departure to check that gas was switched off which took approx 3-4 mins.

Went out August, came back yesterday, slight delay otherwise no problems. Out May, back June, no problems.
We have used the tunnel many times but have never seen an immigrant (even in jungle days) despite travelling late evening once. However, we do not stop near Calais or leave the van just in case someone is looking for an unauthorised ride.

Used the tunnel a week ago today to France, no problems at all. Driving away we saw a police van parked up with a gendarme patrolling with a dog. That's all we saw in the immediate area. Stayed at les Epinettes at Peuplingues about 7 miles away and no problem on the way there either, nor the next morning to the A16 and south.
