We were rather puzzled for a while why our good friends still went away during peak holiday periods, and to some busy sites, despite being retired and not having children along. But they had a poor experience a few years ago, and have now joined us away from the busy sites and out of peak holiday times. The law of averages means that there will be more scope for incidents and accidents where there are more people away, and especially more youngsters.

Parenting comes in all shapes, forms and degrees of freedom, and sometimes, thankfully rarely, bad accidents can occur. I gave up stressing about other folks parenting skills after a working lifetime with children, and now much prefer not to have to be part of assessing parental skills up close.

I recognise that this isn't an option for all, but if you feel stressed having others around not parenting as you think it should be done, or are anxious about your (insured) outfit, it is a lot easier going outside school holidays, and on quiet sites.laughing

Of course, but would someone really make up something like this?

That is very cynical to think that sort of thing, plus there must have been other people on the site who saw this incident.

Wardens were involved too if I remember correctly.

Why would the parents accept responsibility and then change their minds?

Wasn't there some dispute about the cost. As sorting a repair to maintain the bodyshell warranty, is a lot more expensive than just getting it repaired, due to where you have to get the work done.

Oh, come on Kj, I know you're not quite that naive.

Whilst I'm not saying any of this applies to the poster we're discussing, this is a forum, remember, and people come on here posting all sorts of things about themselves in the hope we will believe it and have a good old rant while they fall about laughing.

People even invent personas and embroider their lives. You must surely know that a poster is not always what he/she would have us believe. surprised

I think back to when I was a child and could go out on our bikes and not have to worry about traffic. children today can not do this there is to much traffic . when we see children being able to play  around the site it brings back some happy memories of my childhood . august is the month when if you don't like children playing wait until September when they are back at school. or like some people go to adult only sites. I am not saying play ball game etc around the caravan there are playing fields for that .let children be children . as long as they know  the rules I explain them to my grandchildren they had a great time making new friends

TW, I am a simple straightforward type of person, generally accept people at face value unless they give me cause to do otherwise, if that is naive, then I am guilty as charged.

I found nothing in the case of the car/bike incident to make me think the whole thing was invented.

This is the only forum I frequent, so I presume my experience must be more limited than yours.

I do find, in my little world, that most people are genuine, you presumably have had a different experience.

Oh, yes, my life experience makes me view things and people in a much more realistic way than some. I see through a lot of subterfuge and have had fun spotting people on here who aren't what they seem.wink

The trick is to keep an open mind and not to immediately take things, or people, at face value.

Simple and straightforward? I don't really think so, Kj. laughing

Sorry to disappoint you if you are referring to me!

Now I am retired I prefer the quiet life, pottering around, doing my woodturning, photography,  looking after the house, and helping our children with their houses, bit of voluntary work,  going on holiday etc etc.

When I was working, in shipping and offshore stuff, it was a different matter.  It was a job  with big responsibilities for safety and other peoples' lives,  Nothing was taken to be correct without close scrutiny.

I am much more relaxed these days.

    Couple points of view

5mph rule - fine - not always feasible or possible with modern cars when towing

Kids fine as long as well behaved

Kids on bikes - fine but should also adhere to 5mph rule and should not be going in between pitches

Kids on bikes after 10pm - nope and recently experienced at York

Adults on bikes racing their kids way above 5mph - nope

Dogs barking - same as kids crying - as long as attended to its nature get over it

Returning to the original discussion, we have to report a 'first' in uncontrolled behaviour! This evening at C3 Kingsbury Waterpark site two young teenage girls have been zooming around the toilet block on a mobility scooter. They nearly came a cropper as they shot out of the hedged exit in front of a passing car. The Holiday Site Managers were ticking off children earlier for cycling around and through the block in the afternoon. There doesn't appear to be a duty warden, so I ticked them off myself. Hope we don't waken to slashed tyres or graffitti!

I understand your point TtDA, and we, like many, do try to avoid sites when they are busy, but the downside is that we therefor have to avoid holidaying in the (generally) best weather.

Now, we are fine with that as we like to be home to tend the house and garden over summer, plus we prefer to avoid the most expensive holiday periods, but why should it be necessary ?

We are all members, all equal in the eyes of the Club, nobody should be needing to worry about their outfit possibly being damaged by anyone else while on site.

Far too often, IMO, on CT, people who raise something like this are told......go elsewhere.........go at a different time........what has happened to the idea that we should all be considerate of each other?

However, the OP's original point was not about damage to outfits, so, as others have already pointed out, we have drifted a long way off topic now.

If that was meant for me, Kj, I'm rather puzzled.

You started by calling me a cynic all because of a thread long gone, and a simple factual comment, to which I pointed out my outlook is realistic.

Now you seem very defensive and want to change the subject. Maybe you shouldn't have called me cynical, eh? embarassed

    Time to let it go.

Sounded like you were doubting that I was a simple and straighforward person....hence my reply relating what I do these days.

Not defensive or changing the subject, just stating the facts.

If that was not your meaning then I was obviously mistaken.  Not always easy to understand what is meant when replies are brief.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting your thoughts and comments, we do appreciate feedback from members. If you are ever on a site and you see any behaviour which you feel is unacceptable please do speak to the site staff as they will be able to investigate this and monitor the situation.

As we have had numerous reports regarding posts throughout this discussion and it's got heated at times, I'm going to close this now. Thank you to those who have contributed.
